However, the country has faced wars and is considered one of the poorest in Africa. In 1980, over 2.5 million Ethiopian refugees moved to Sudan and then to America. Ethiopian migration to the United States is driven by seeking better work opportunities and escaping poverty. Ethiopia has established diplomatic relations with the United States since 1903, but the relationship cooled during the Ethiopian Revolution. However, relations have improved in recent years, with the United States supporting Ethiopia in regional instability and the war on terrorism. Ethiop Hello, my name is Azariah. Hello, my name is Talia. Today, we're making a podcast about Ethiopian refugees and their history. Ethiopia is a small country located in the Horn of Africa, home to the coffee mines in Oromia, SNNPR, and Gambalia. Ethiopia has recently been through wars, but Ethiopia has been around for years, ranging back to 980 BC. Ethiopia may look like your typical nice country, but Ethiopians say there's many crimes and destructions of wars going on every day. Even resources are slowly running out to the point where it's one of the poorest countries in Africa. In 1980, more than 2.5 million Ethiopian refugees moved to Sudan and then slowly made their way to America. Fighting has been escalating since November 2020, establishing the populous country in the Horn of Africa, leaving thousands of people dead, with 300,000 others living in famine conditions. Eritrean soldiers are also fighting in Tigray for the Ethiopian government, a power struggle. The conflict started on November 4th when Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed ordered a military offensive against regional forces in Tigray. He said he did so in response to an attack on a military-based house and government troops. Mascalation came after months of feuding between Mr. Abiy and the leaders of the Tigray environmental and political crisis in Ethiopia. Over the last 50 years have led to a major migration of people, both internally and across borders. The country has suffered extreme political turmoil, recurrent drought, famine, and devastating civil war. Ever since then, America and Ethiopia have come together and drive Ethiopian migration to the United States, seeking better work opportunities, escaping poverty, and aiming for a higher living standard are examples of economic motivation. Ethiopia diplomatic relations were established on December 27th, 1903, when King of Ethiopia and USA representative Robert P. Skinner signed a treaty of commerce in which two countries agreed to receive representatives in order to protrude and strengthen the friendly relations which exist between Ethiopia and the United States of America. After World War II, these ties strengthened, and Ethiopia played an active role in the world, and the African affairs following the Ethiopian Revolution, USA-Ethiopia relations began to cool due to the Ethiopia diplomatic relations were established on December 27th, 1903, when King of Ethiopia and USA representative Robert P. After World War II, these ties strengthened, and Ethiopia played an active role in the world, and the African affairs following the Ethiopian Revolution, USA-Ethiopia relations began to cool due to the linking with international communist and U.S. revolutions as the drugs, human rights abuses, with the downfall of the 1991 U.S.-Ethiopian relations improved dramatically today. Ethiopia has very good relations with the United States, especially responding to regional instability, supporting war on terrorism, and increasingly through an economic environment. When Ethiopians arrived in America, they were treated as badly as every other refugee, constantly mistreated, tortured, and even enslaved. But it never stopped there. When most Ethiopians came, they were sold, traded, trafficked to other countries that despised American-Ethiopian partnerships.
