"The Doomed Generation" is an intense and violent post-punk thriller from Iraq. It is similar to "The Living End" in that it features gay characters and a road trip theme. However, it focuses more on schizophrenia rather than pastiche, as described by Frederick Jameson. The Doomed Generation is Iraqi's most post-punk work. Like The Living End, it's a road trip film of sorts, with gay characters abound, but unlike The Living End, it's violent and intense, a post-punk thriller for the bored-out-their-brains teenager. Two key features of the post-modern post-punk media are, according to Frederick Jameson, pastiche and schizophrenia. For The Doomed Generation, we're going to ignore pastiche and focus solely on schizophrenia.
