Washington wind That Washington wind That Washington wind That Washington wind The day we moved in we painted the front door red Ate pizza on the floor and put together the bed Wrote a threat song on the wall Told the story of it all At the start we didn't know that it would end Cause I love you to live here Cause I love you to live here Now nothing's left but empty frames Memories I can't escape Cause I love you to live here We built this life and burned it down Can't believe it's all gone now Cause I love you to live here The day you moved out I went through every room Changed it around but there was nothing I could do Fetched your jacket, the front porch lamp You left your mark on everything No matter where I look I still see you Cause I love you to live here Now nothing's left but empty frames Memories I can't escape Cause I love you to live here We built this life and burned it down Can't believe it's all gone now Cause I love you to live here And after this house is set for a woman's scene Home is not a thing, it's a feeling Cause I love you to live here Now nothing's left but empty frames Memories I can't escape Cause I love you to live here We built this life and burned it down Can't believe it's all gone now Cause I love you to live here Cause I love you to live here Cause I love you to live here Cause I love you to live here Her name is Amanda Kind And that is called Love Used to Live Here She is very kind and she's a great Canadian artist And she did a radio interview with yours truly recently So that is awesome as well Have a great time talking to Amanda Kind Well I'm going to have a great time talking to our first artist tonight Miss Mackenzie O'Brien Here we go You're listening to the Tim Kelly Show on KICR IndieCountryRadio.com And tonight I am live from the Pierce Arrow Theatre in Branson, Missouri Getting ready to kick off the Nashville Roadhouse Live show Here at 8pm Central Time With Stevie Lee Woods and the Nashville Roadhouse Live Band But before that my special guest tonight is Mackenzie O'Brien How are you my friend? I'm doing great, how are you Tim? I am fantastic as well Thanks for doing the program tonight I sure appreciate it And I've been looking forward to this one Your music is fantastic And I've had a chance to play it several times on the radio So good stuff, they're in for a treat tonight Thank you very much, I really appreciate that Absolutely, now I'm looking at a great bio You've recently opened for Miss Pam Tillis Her dad Mel Tillis used to have his own theatre here in Branson And my brother even got to hang out with him when he was around in Branson I never did get to meet him And his daughter is fantastic, I love her music Oh my gosh, me too Like Shake the Sugar Tree, maybe it was Memphis Oh my gosh, she's so good And that's the goal isn't it? For your songs to be memorable just like that And people can rattle them off the top of their head That is so true And especially, I've opened for a lot of people And I get extra excited when it's a woman that I'm opening for Because I feel like in this business It's a tough business, but it's tough to be a lady in it too So I just feel like watching her And just feeling the empowerment that she has is so inspiring Absolutely, and I know that and I've known it for years I've been doing this show for 12 years now And coming up this May And actually, I play a lot of women on the radio And I play three songs in a row when I do the interviews And back in the day when you're in radio When you're first starting out They'll tell you, hey you'll get in trouble If you play that many women in a row or something like that Right That doesn't happen around here And that's the beauty of owning the station And doing what we want, so I love that Yes, that's why you're the best Appreciate it Thank you for playing ladies on the radio Absolutely In May you're getting to open for a great gentleman though He was the winner of season, I forget the season I think 22, yeah it was 22 of NBC's The Voice Back in 2022 on Blake's team And I play his new song too, Bryce Leatherwood So that's good Yeah, I'm very excited about that He did so great on the show And now he's on his tour and I think that's awesome And he got to be on Blake's team And I know he's going to help him out a lot He's got a great original out to radio called Neon Does And I've been playing the heck out of that since it came out It is really well done And so that's going to be fun That is going to be fun That is going to be fun And he's kind of got that He's not like pop country Which I think is really cool Because he's kind of like more traditional stuff So I think that's great that it's coming back Absolutely You know, I've been doing this for a while, I told you And I play a lot of Blake's team of The Voice Maybe they didn't win the competition But they still keep putting out a lot of great original music It seems like not winning The Voice just fuels them To keep pushing and keep going Absolutely, absolutely It's a stepping stool for a long career Yep, and I was just recently told by an artist You know, you don't want to come in first You want to come in second or something like that Like Miranda Lambert did in the first Nashville Star competition I interviewed Buddy Jewell last year And he won the competition But he had wrote and pitched his stuff to Nashville for 10 years And it took winning that to get really some recognition And get a record deal But Miranda's ended up having a bigger career Absolutely, absolutely You never know what can happen Never do And Morgan Wallen was on The Voice I don't think he won either I don't even know if he was like a finalist I am friends with Audra McLachlan who was on that same season She went further than Morgan Wallen He's ended up having a bigger career as far as mainstream radio But you've got to hear Audra McLachlan sing She's a songbird, we call her I tell you what, what a voice Oh wow, I'll have to look her up Audra McLachlan, yes She's got a great song out too Now I've got to play it Since we're talking about her I'll load her up tonight in my playlist as well You have actually also opened for Lone Star My buddy Stevie Lee Woods has met them too That's going to be performing tonight at the theater And they have performed here in Branson I know a couple of years ago at Silver Dollar City The theme park that's here that owns Dollywood and all of that Yes Rodney Atkins, Chris Jansen, Chris Cagle, Kylie Morgan I've got her music Jordan Davis, Lee Bryce He got married here in Branson about 6 or 7 years ago Oh wow, I love that That's all good stuff Thank you very much It's so exciting just getting those opportunities And I feel so blessed I'm up here in Chicago Which I think has been a blessing I know people are like, well why aren't you moving to Nashville And Nashville is great The industry is there And I go there a lot But Chicago has just been so great to me With the opportunities that I've been given I love it Our favorite Chicago shows are on Wednesday nights We love them all Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD Oh, I love it I have a lot of friends who watch their shows too Especially the Fire Yeah, it stays cold there it looks like a lot of times on TV Yes, it does It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure Especially when I have my southern friends in Nashville And it's spring It's basically second winter we call it And then they're in springtime You're probably ready for the month of May to get some warmer weather Absolutely And the summer is the big time for the Midwest So we have all the festivals going on That's my busy season because the weather is finally nice So we're just gearing up for that Now, a young lady from Chicago I guess you were born and raised there originally, is that right? Yes, I'm from northern Illinois I just say Chicago Everybody does that, we're all posers here But I'm from McHenry And we're basically right by the Wisconsin border And I've lived in the same house my entire life I've never moved How about that? Now, I definitely can't say that We moved around a lot when I was younger, especially, too And one of the houses that we lived in When Elvis passed away I was up in my bedroom and I heard it on the radio And I was 15 years old And that house is now torn down So it's not even there anymore Oh, wow Now, let me ask you this, though Why country music? There's a lot of genres out there And I listen to a wide variety of music I started DJing 80s music back in 86 When I went to broadcasting school in California In San Diego That 90s country is what got me to want to do country radio Why country music for you? I'd say our stories are a little bit similar Like, I love 80s music And 90s country is what I grew up on I actually recently just saw Dwight Yoakam live And he's just incredible And he still does his little dance moves on stage I was like, oh my gosh, he's so inspiring Pretty good actor, too I watch The Panic Room every now and again Oh, I've seen The Panic Room Yeah, he's really scary in that He is And his arms really sore for most of it Oh, I bet Oh my gosh, he did a lot Like, he was actually in Wedding Crusher, too He's done a lot of cameos I think that's just wild But he's had a very successful career And definitely very inspiring to me Like, I grew up on Gretchen Wilson And Toby Keith I just love country music And I think I've always wanted to be a singer And I just found my home in country music Because everybody was just so inviting And I felt, like, morally just more aligned With what country music is about As opposed to, like, going to LA I felt like it was just a lot more cutthroat there Nashville's still a little bit cutthroat But I feel like we got some morals down there So I really like it Well, it is good for the acting part You know, a lot of music, country music Especially, I just think of a couple off the top of my head Like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers Those kind of folks You know, he had a great run with the Gambler series on TV Based off that song, The Gambler And then Dolly with 9 to 5 and all of that So you never know when a song of yours Might get picked up to be in a movie or something like that And they could make a whole series around it Absolutely, I'd just be so happy with that Anywhere this song wants to go, you know We would love California for that all over again Oh, hell yeah You know, my dad, when I was a young man I lived in California when I was in my 20s And I drove up twice to audition for Wheel of Fortune And I love solving the puzzles And I'm really good at it But I never got picked to be on the program But, you know, everything comes full circle Now I'm friends with the announcer, Jim Thornton On Wheel of Fortune And the former announcer for The Price is Right Both with Bob Barker and Drew Carey And his name is Rich Fields I need to have them on the program Oh my goodness, that's so cool I used to watch that show all the time Love all of those shows And it is, it's a lot of fun Now, and doing these interviews Is kind of like trivia questions, you know If I was asked a trivia question about you Something I don't know Like, what do you like to do for fun? Because I have no idea when you're not making music Oh my gosh, so I haven't done this yet But I would really like to get into fly fishing It looks really fun Sweet, you've got to come to Branson We've got Taney Como, it's full of trout Oh, I'd love that You would tear it up I would love that I watched this movie a couple days ago And it's about this veteran Who was dealing with PTSD And I think it's based on a true story So he, like, started this program for veterans To learn how to fly fish And deal with their anxiety and stuff And I was like, that looks really fun That is cool I haven't done it yet But I'd love to try it I was walking a dog down at a resort in Branson Several years ago And I watched a guy catch a four pounder Right down there in front of me When I was there That was a pretty neat fight Whoa Yeah That is very cool And trout, they're such beautiful fish I'd love to just stare at them Yep, and good eating Yeah, pretty good eating too Absolutely You won a songwriting competition With Murph Music Nashville Over 3,000 entries And you won that in 2020 Tell us about that That is awesome Yeah, I feel like that was Definitely a god thing And that was before Any of my resume was, like, filled up With anything cool So I was so happy that Ray with Murph Music Saw something in me really early on And when I won that I got to write with Chris Wallen Who's written some stuff for Kenny Chesney And I was just so honored to be there But that actually opened a door To work with some other Experienced writers in Nashville And also opened a door To work with the team That I'm currently with Ray gave me a contact To work with Daredevil Music And they have helped so much Just with digital And understanding the music business So I'm just so grateful for that That is awesome You write a lot of ex-boyfriend songs It says Now Taylor Swift is famous for that I'm a big Kansas City Chiefs fan And you don't know this about me But I have Patrick Mahomes tattooed On my left arm actually Oh my gosh, no way I don't have Taylor or Kelsey yet People ask me that all the time But she is famous for writing These ex-boyfriend songs as well And you had one ex-boyfriend That said that lived near a location At a really large festival that you were doing And you played the music so loud And you were actually singing about him And he could hear it from where he's standing And where he's living That's so funny Yeah, I hope he could hear it Because I remember when we were dating He lived next to Country Thunder, Wisconsin And he was like Country Thunder is so loud I hear it all the time when I'm back home And I was playing that song on a stage And I'm like, this is for you You can hear it I love it, what a jab Yeah So dating you would be an adventure I take it Oh, I always warn him Right when we first start dating I will write a song about you Just make it a good one There you go First one we're going to play tonight Is called Mean Girl Is that the kind of girl you are? So Mean Girl is funny I have a boyfriend currently And speaking of the ex-boyfriend songs He's a really nice guy So it's hard to write a bad song about him Or anything angry So I just decided to write a song about his ex-girlfriend There you go She wasn't so nice to him She wasn't Well we're going to play it for the folks And if you can hang out a little bit longer We'd love to come back and talk to you some more This is fun so far Thank you Once again, this is called Mean Girl On the Tim Kelly Show from KICR Indie Country Radio New Country's Best On this special Saturday night Live from the Pierce Arrow Theater In Branson, Missouri Mean Girl Show me a precious Mean Girl I wish you'd be so Mean Girl If I was nicer I wish you well But love Can go to hell Now I've gone and gone and gone To lay inside my Inside Inside And I don't want to tell you But your heart Would mean Girl Mean Girl Thank you so much For being crazy Mean Girl Now he's crazy about me Mean Girl Let me make it clear I'll be a mean girl If you ever come around here Now I've gone and gone and gone To lay inside my Inside And I don't want to tell you But your heart Would mean Girl Now I've gone and gone and gone To lay inside my Inside And I don't want to tell you But your heart Would mean Girl Mean Girl Now I've gone and gone and gone To lay inside my Inside And I don't want to tell you But your heart Would mean Girl I feel good about it Well actually that is a fantastic song So you shouldn't be nervous at all In fact your songs have had Over a half million streams on Spotify That is amazing, congratulations on that too Thank you so much Absolutely We're going to play another one though that you've done Performances around the world it says And dive bars and all of that in Wisconsin And Chicago But this particular song you did at some kind of festival They asked you Not to play that song It's called Sugar Daddy Issues And that's one of the first ones I heard from you And I thought it was great Thank you so much You know it's one of those songs where you either love it or hate it And there's really no in between And so it's got a lot of mixed reactions Because it's a little bit edgy Yep it is And you know I've got this TV channel It's called ICTV Indie Country Television as well And that song's got a video to it doesn't it It does I actually, so part time I work in a hair salon And it's a pretty good gig Because I get my highlights done for free And I have a lot of hair So it would be really expensive But she let me shoot some of the video My boss in the hair salon And some of it's shot in Lake Forest And other parts shot in Nashville And it just really came together And I was so happy with it So that explains some of the acting that we talked about You know I started this several years ago So about 4 or 5 years ago I started Indie Country Television Kind of based on what CMT was doing for the artist And now they've got all these other TV shows That they air mixed in So you don't see a whole lot of videos And I grew up watching MTV And they don't show videos hardly anymore either So I thought you know to create something That's just one continuous great country music video After another by the independent artist That maybe nobody's ever seen before And the lower views that it has So the lower views of the video is kind of what I'm looking for Because I want to help you out I want to help you get thousands if not millions of views So I'm going to put that on our TV channel If that's okay with you Absolutely, thank you I love that It'll run around in rotation about 24-7 We've currently got about 10 hours of programming on there On the independent side So it'll get played at least twice a day Yay! Sure daddy issues Yeah absolutely It'll be down in the right hand corner of the screen And if you click those three little dashes It will show you the program of what's coming up next So you can alert the folks If it's coming up in the next hour Or something like that You'll be able to see it live on Indy Country Television Love Indy Country Television That's right We got you covered, radio and television Love it You're getting lots of radio airplay obviously And lots of streams on Spotify But let me ask you this As a young lady Do you have any other siblings And if so Are they musically inclined like you Do they play in your band or anything Well So my grandmother played the accordion And she was actually very musical But my mom always jokes And she says it's skipped a generation Because she She was actually in band But she wasn't very musical And my sister She's like the smart one She has the brain My brother He is the sports guy So he played soccer And football And then I'm like the musical one My sister actually played the classical piano But She didn't do it for too long And she was just much better in school I was not good in school I was terrible at sports But music is something that I've always loved Now As a young person in school Music classes I mean I took those I learned how to play the violin a little bit What was your interest in music instruments wise That's awesome So I So I learned guitar When I was I think 14 And I went to a private school So my parents Wanted to make sure I got a really good education And I feel really bad Because like school Nothing I cared about too much I was a very much Okay let's have C's and let's just pass Let's do the bare minimum Kind of do that And I was really lonely on spring break Because all my friends were in Florida Vacationing And then I took my sister's guitar out of her closet Taught myself on YouTube And then I really wanted to learn How to play the banjo Like folk revival That was going on at the time So I learned a little bit of banjo too But that's the extent of my instrument learning That is awesome They love the banjo here in Branson And you're going to hear it tonight At the Nashville Roadhouse live show With Stevie Lee Woods and the Nashville Roadhouse live band And the banjo player is a gentleman By the name of Cole Lee Who just happens to be the grandson Of the Silver Fox the late great Charlie Rich Oh my goodness Wow You guys are in for a treat tonight Not only getting to hear McKenzie O'Brien But you're getting to see a great show as well It's the best of both worlds here tonight In Branson at the Piercero Absolutely It's going to be a lot of fun And we talked off the air about Hopefully maybe seeing you here one of these days Have you ever been to Branson? I've been to Branson once But it was a long time ago I did go to the Silver Dollar Place What's the river by you guys? One of those water rides They've got new ones now Something Falls I can't remember I haven't rode that one actually It's pretty brand new Fire in the Hole was one of the first water rides That I ever went on And that just opened up They just spent $30 million It's a 5 story building inside Climate controlled And it's crazy good Wow My grandpa started bringing us here When I was a kid And getting us season passes to Silver Dollar City And of course they own Dollywood And Pigeon Forge Tennessee too The same family So it's some really good entertainment And there's lots of great country music entertainment Here every year And Echo Hollow Theater And Lone Star and Colin Ray And a bunch of big names have been here Wow I mean Lone Star too They're just so good They have so many hit songs that they have I know And you're going to hear Amaze tonight By Stevie Lee Woods and the Nashville Roadhouse Live Band too They do a great job on that Lone Star song So that's awesome Now in a Mackenzie O'Brien show What are some of the cover songs and some of your favorite ones to do? You mentioned Gretchen Wilson And some of those great female artists Well I love Miranda Lambert She's like She's my favorite And I feel like we have similar ranges I love singing some Shania songs That always gets people going We love Shania I like to mix it up too Because I like rock music And I like 80's music So sometimes I'll do like Tears for Fears The Cranberries Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar I just like to mix it up Man I feel like a woman No I'm just throwing that out there Oh yeah gotta do that one I love that song So that's good stuff And you're in for a treat folks If you go see Mackenzie O'Brien in a live show as well And speaking of that Which one do you want to promote next? That's right I was born in Austin, Texas I still have family in Lampasas Around Wiley, Arlington and Georgetown Which is right outside of Austin And I spent a lot of my time in Ohio Then I moved to Nashville almost 11 years ago Okay, awesome And you know they call that Music City But I totally believe that Branson's about number two They call this the live show capital of the world Just based on the number of theater seats we have here in Branson In a little town of 10,000 We have 58,000 theater seats here Wow, you know I absolutely love Branson, Missouri My family, when I was young We would always go to Branson for vacation And we'd get a cabin We'd go see all the shows So it's really awesome Yeah, I can kind of tell you a full circle moment right now Getting to talk with you No kidding I see you opened for Lone Star in the past They do a great tribute show here tonight At the Theater to Lone Star And their song called Amazed Stevie Lee Woods Yeah, Stevie Lee Woods has opened for them before too And they performed in Branson a few years ago And man you should have seen the line at Silver Dollar City And it was raining and everybody was wearing their ponchos To get in and see them at the Echo Hollow Theater there in Branson So Silver Dollar City Well that never surprised me Yeah That's a great theme park And that's where my grandpa used to get us season passes too And they also owned Dollywood and Pigeon Forge So it's always a great time at Silver Dollar City And they put on a lot of great concerts out there Oh wow, I didn't know they owned Dollywood too I learn something new every day There you go You were raised on Conway, Twitty, Loretta Lynn Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash Conway passed away in Springfield Just north of Branson when he passed away Yeah, my grandpa He's the reason why I love country music so much He grew up in the hills of the Appalachian Mountains And his only source of entertainment was the Grand Ole Opry And his mom would play the Grand Ole Opry all through the hills You'd hear it down the holler And just seeing the joy that country music brought my grandpa I wanted to bring him joy too So I started singing And the first song to really make me fall in love with country music Was Austin by Blake Shelton And that just opened up a whole new set of doors for me Just exploring country music And all the great stories and messages And yeah, there's nothing else in the world like it That is true And boy, it's a small world We were talking about you've been to Branson before In the past and everything And have seen some shows here Well, I lived for 20 years in Southeast Oklahoma In Ada, Oklahoma Where Blake Shelton is actually from Right! And he's one of the reasons I wanted to do country radio When he came along and those guys in the 90s Like Garth Brooks and Toby Keith Who unfortunately recently has passed away But Vince Gill, those guys from Oklahoma Is the reason I wanted to do country radio back in the 90s Yeah, wow, great minds think alike Absolutely I also see something else you might have in common With some folks that I know You went to Belmont University And my good friend Allie Colleen Who I just did a second radio interview with Who is actually the daughter of Garth Brooks And Sandy, his first wife You know, she went to Belmont University And her best friend too, Carly Rogers Yeah, you know, Allie and I, we graduated together No kidding We did And I don't know her personally But I love her music I love following her on social media I just, you know, she is unapologetically her And she is super talented And I admire the heck out of her You know, even though she don't want to use daddy's name Or anything like that to make it That rubbed off on her, didn't it? Yeah, she is great Oh my gosh, her latest song, it just makes you cry Yeah, she did a duet with Lee Bryce That I played And that's what she wanted to promote In this last interview Lee Bryce got married here in Branson About seven years ago To his wife Sarah And Sarah and Allie are the ones That collaborated on this duet that they just did Nice They wrote it together Yeah, I saw that, I saw that You have had the privilege of opening For some of the big names in country music I'm looking at Ashley McBride, John Pardee Laney Wilson, our CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Holmes, Neal McCoy I've met him here in Branson Nico Moon, just a bunch of them Wow Yeah, Lone Star Twice I just opened for Martina McBride And yeah, I feel so grateful For all the different people that I've gone to You know, just stand side stage And watch them do what they do best From opening for Lone Star Twice That led to Dean Sams, the founding member And keys player of the group After my show, he said Jess, when we get back to Nashville Like, let's write, let's see If we can, you know, work together And we are ten songs deep He's produced ten of my songs We've co-written all of them Except for my Christmas song That was written by Dean Sams and Michael Britt Who is the original member And he plays guitar in the group Lone Star They wrote Under the Table Toe But yeah, Dean and I, we've been working together For over a year and a half And it's been crazy How much I've gotten to learn from him Well, that's what I was telling you a little bit ago You know, Stevie Lee Woods, the headliner of tonight's show At the Nashville Roadhouse Live Is going to sing Amazed by Lone Star And he's met those guys and opened for them before, too And he's going to be amazed By what you've got going on with the group Lone Star Some of them producing your stuff That is cool Oh, yeah Well, you know, I'm going to have to come to Branson And see his show That's absolutely correct We would love to see you here And love to meet you Yeah, we'll have lunch or do some dinner Or something like that We'll hang out, it'll be fun Yes, I would love that That would be fantastic I'm looking at your musical writing influences One of them is Dolly Parton And she's got a theater here, too The Dolly Parton Stampede It's a great show Which I haven't ever seen that one, too But they say the food is amazing over there Then we've got Miranda Lambert Bonnie Raitt Martina McBride Those are all fantastic Yes, yep Those are some of my biggest influences And now Lainey Wilson She's a huge influence of mine I just love watching what she does next And the anticipation Of seeing what she comes up with next Is always very, very cool How about the young ladies like yourself In the world of country music They are just kicking booty right now, aren't they? Yes, and I am all for it I am so excited To see all these women You know, just really push their way And push their way through And it inspires me It tells me that I can do the same Absolutely You know, I play a young lady by the name of Mae Estes You may know her She's from Hope, Arkansas And she recently got to open for Lainey Wilson And she posted it on social media I get to open for Lainey freakin' Wilson The bell-bottom queen of country music Yeah That is exciting, you know When the other female artists are supporting each other And letting you guys open for them It is really neat to see that Yeah, and I saw Miranda Lambert When I was young Maybe early teens I watched her do that for other women And that was part of the reason What made me fall in love with her so much Was how much she supported and pushed women You know, and vouched for them Yeah, absolutely Now, I want to go back to when you were 19 And you moved to Nashville And you went to Belmont It says you were going to pursue a degree In the music business So, did you really at that point You know, and looking back now Did you need that degree Or have you kind of figured it out? Well, I ended up switching to Entertainment Industry Studies Which I was able to take Artist Management courses And really just dive deep more Into each role in the music business And the music business major A lot of it was Anyways, it doesn't matter I even went on candidates sometimes Well, here's what I believe And you have it But talent is talent And good music needs to be heard on the radio I don't care if it's a female artist A band, a group, whatever Male artists You know, they need to be heard If they make good country music And that is exactly what you make Well, thanks for saying that I love connecting with the crowd I love being able to stand on that stage And see people in the audience Singing the same songs And loving the same songs That I grew up listening to And love And one thing Belmont did teach me Was, you know, behind the scenes What to look out for And, you know, as an independent artist You have to do a lot of these Different roles yourself So Artist Management Tour Management Band Lead You know, all these different things I have to do it And so, yeah Belmont was able to prepare me For that step Yep And, you know, there's so much Creative stuff that goes on Behind the scenes Behind the scenes Not only just making the music But, you know The merchandise I'm looking at your merchandise You got some cool looking merch And all of that going on too And then you've got You know, just your photography And the pictures that you're doing To promote your latest single You know You got to think about all of that You know, the backdrop And what you're going to wear And all of that stuff You know, and you give credit To the photo credits To those folks And, you know It's everybody working hard To make you a success It's not just by yourself Either, is it? No, it's not The photos you're talking about Those are taken by Michael Gomez And then Dean, of course He's producing my songs His son, Bryson He creates all my music videos His company is called Heapsweight Productions And then I have a graphic designer Who does all my merch designs His name is Chris Kennedy And my mom's a huge fan My band Specifically, Zach Reeder My band lead He also does the tour management part for me He's production manager right now So, yes There are so many people Well, Sherri Who connected us You know She's helping me Get my music out there By reaching out to You and others To help new ears come Or help my music get to new ears Yeah I've actually had the privilege Of talking to her over the phone And she's got multiple decades Of experience in doing what she does She has Splash PR And Sherri Cranford That's who we're talking about And she is fantastic And she's hooked me up now For the second time I just interviewed a young lady By the name of Brooklyn Summer I had her first interview The privilege of doing her first interview When she was 10 And now she's 13 Getting ready to be 14 And we just recently did it A couple of weeks ago Here at the theater So that was fun Oh, that's awesome There is some young talent In that town, too There are I love to see it You played a country concert In Fort Laramie, Ohio Is where you got to open up For Lainey Wilson, John Pardee I'm looking at Some other big names, though, too That you've opened for Like Billy Ray Cyrus, Craig Morgan And Daryl Singletary Before he passed I actually got to make Some horse trailers For Daryl Singletary Back in the early 90s When he was down in Oklahoma At a place called Sundowner Trailers I used to work there And I got to work on some of the ones That were donated to him He was the sponsor of theirs Wow, very cool So I thought that was pretty neat Getting to work on some of the things That a big name country artist did And then later on I got the wild hair To want to do something in radio And my first radio job Was at McAllister, Oklahoma At a big 100,000 watt station Down there And that's where I became Tim Kelly I love it That's so cool I met Josh Thompson Who you've opened for In Nashville At a bar called Losers Back in 08 Yep Losers, that's a good one John Michael Montgomery I play his nephew Dylan Montgomery On the radio He's pretty good Yes Love, love, love So you've got some good stuff And you've also been featured On CMT's Taste of Country And the Country Network I'm familiar with all of those And I've got a surprise for you Talking about country music videos But I'm going to hang on to it For just a little bit, alright? Oh, okay We're going to play your song Called More Than Home And I want to hear the story behind it But first I want to tell you my quote Of what I said about More Than Home And hang on, let me scroll up here And find it I said, the song's going to bring back So many memories of the hometown That you grew up in Nothing misses you more than home It's a hit song from Jeff Kelly Adams Oh, thank you You know, everybody remembers The hometown of where they grew up in And for you artists that are doing Something in country music That's what really sticks with you Because there's so many songs to write About where you grew up And the things that you used to do When you were growing up And it ends up being The story of your life In a country song, doesn't it? It absolutely does I always say that When anybody asks me What, you know, what can we expect When we listen to your songs? I say, grit with grace, country And what that is, is You know, my songs, they talk about The struggles that we may go through But, you know, that's the grit But then the grace is Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel Finding the positive And so you'll hear a lot of that in my songs I'm hoping that people find their strength Find the good And yeah, so country music It's country music If there's a good message and a story to it Boy, isn't that the truth They call it three chords and the truth But it does, it tells the best stories And that's what I call these radio interviews This is stories behind the songs You wouldn't believe the song titles That I see in my email every day Of artists reaching out to me From not just in the United States But all over the world I'm just recently taking on A gentleman from Ireland And playing one of his songs And I'm on the radio over there in Ireland too At one of their stations But country music is universal When it comes to storytelling, isn't it? It is, absolutely Everybody can relate To going through hard times I feel country music is about love I heard somebody say one time That it's either about love or fear But that really stuck with me Yeah, I love that And it's just so much is emotion And I love a good ballad in the world of country music I say that all the time You make a ballad that I'm hooked on I'll play that all day long on the radio No doubt about that And how about a piano in the world of country music? Like Smokey Mountain Rain from Ronnie Millsap Some of those Charlie Rich, The Silver Fox back in the day With Behind Closed Doors We got his grandson, Cole Lee Is going to play in the band tonight For the Nashville Roadhouse Live Oh, that is so cool Again, he's become the grandson Yes, and he's super talented And I haven't seen him play the piano But he can tear up the guitar and the banjo That is for sure That is very cool And the steel guitar We've got that And Michael T. Hermsmeyer Is going to play tonight too at the theater So I love traditional country music And I sure applaud these young folks That are keeping that alive Yeah, uh-huh We gotta And the steel guitar My grandpa always said I just love hearing that steel guitar cry Yep, absolutely Well, we're going to hear you sing this song Called More Than Home And then we're going to come back And talk some more with Jess Kelly Adams On the Tim Kelly Show From KICR Indie Country Radio New country's best On this Saturday night special From the Pierce Arrow Theater In Branson, Missouri Memories, big dreams I was a little girl Who wanted more Two red lights One stop sign I was looking for an open door To get out of this town And find my way Wasn't gonna listen to Anyone or anything Didn't need this place Or anybody in it Till I remembered That I Sat there Tapping outside my grandma's house That's back in the days When we swam in the sun With five kids To get my high school parking lot Found love in a broken heart I was Trying to pray At the church to cry Can't hold my own The town's blue and gold And it's Friday night Don't matter where I go Don't matter what I do There's a reason me Is more than you Now I miss your driving Driving back roads with my friends On flights, on weekends I really wanna feel that again I didn't need this place Or anybody in it Till I remembered That I Sat there Tapping outside my grandma's house That's back in the days When we swam in the sun With five kids To get my high school parking lot Found love in a broken heart I was Trying to pray At the church to cry Can't hold my own The town's blue and gold And it's Friday night Don't matter where I go Don't matter what I do There's a reason me Is more than you I guess I had to go To find my way home With my First step Tapping outside my grandma's house That's back in the days When we swam in the sun With five kids To get my high school parking lot Found love in a broken heart I was Trying to pray At the There's a reason me Is more than you New country best on this Saturday night special Live from the Pierce Arrow Theatre In Branson, Missouri Music Music Music Music Music Growing up, it wasn't easy I was broken to be But I was strong And held on to the Bro's and the Play's When they were gone, we were alone Some might say I was Cheated But they were wrong, all along I had everything I Needed I was raised in a house Where love was bound And your word always stood for something Mama's words was It's hard to go after far But I never had to want for nothing God was my Salvation, he gave me A chance when my days were heavy Stone by stone My whole foundation was laid I was homeless Music Music Music Music I left home, I moved on Grateful for the rest But I learned A little hurt Could turn into a blessing With people And dirty fruit I climbed up through The ash tree I'm here today with stronger faith Than anybody's I've seen I was raised in a house Where love was bound And your word always stood for something Mama's words was It's hard to go after far But I never had to want for nothing God was my Salvation, he gave me A chance when my days were heavy Stone by stone My whole foundation
