In this transcription, Pastor Tim Hall discusses the teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. He explains that Jesus describes what a Christ-like life looks like and warns about false prophets. He emphasizes the importance of doing the will of God and living according to Jesus' laws, rather than just proclaiming goodness. Pastor Tim reminds listeners that Jesus is the way to the Father.
As we follow the words of Jesus in chronological order, we realize in the first part of his Sermon on the Mount, he describes to us what the Christ-like life looks like. Then, as he nears the end, he begins to describe for us what it does not look like, as he tells us of the narrow road that leads to heaven and warns us of false prophets all around us. For us to have a clear picture of the relationship he has been describing that he desires for us to have with him, in Matthew 7.21, he tells us, Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. I hear his words inviting us to inspect our own actions by asking the question, are we living in accordance to his laws, or are we just going along with what is popular, proclaiming our goodness? Remember, in John 14.6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me. This is Pastor Tim Hall of redletterwordsofjesus.com.
