The speaker discusses how false teachings of the Bible are passed down through generations, from small country churches to large megachurches. They reference a verse from Matthew 7 where Jesus warns about false prophets and emphasizes the importance of recognizing them by their actions. The speaker emphasizes the need to study the scriptures for ourselves and not rely solely on the teachings of pastors or churches. They mention the responsibility of discerning the truth by comparing it to the entire word of God. The speaker identifies themselves as Pastor Tim Hall from redletterwordsofjesus.com. One of the amazing things I've noticed over the years is how false teachings of the Bible are picked up and shared down from generation to generation from the small country church on the side of the road to the largest megachurch. Jesus taught very clearly that we should search the scriptures to study it for ourselves as he said, Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are rabious wolves. You would know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7.15 Here he is telling us, yes, we need a church and a pastor to shepherd us, his sheep in the church. While we are responsible for loving and encouraging each other, especially the pastor, we are responsible for discerning who is teaching the truth by comparing it to the entire word of God, not just bits and pieces, as we are to be faithful to our living Lord Jesus every day. This is Pastor Tim Hall of redletterwordsofjesus.com
