In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminds us that we are quick to judge others, but we should first examine our own faults. He uses the analogy of a speck in our brother's eye and a plank in our own to emphasize this point. Jesus urges us to remove our own faults before trying to point out others'. The message is clear - we need to stop being hypocritical and seek forgiveness for our own shortcomings. We live in a world where we are constantly being judged and judging others. As Jesus gets near the end of his Sermon on the Mount, He lets us know that judgment starts at home with me, as none of us are perfect. As Jesus says, And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me remove the speck from your eye, and look, a plank is in your own eye. Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7, 3. If he had a mic, he should have dropped it right there, because all I can add is, enough said. I'm tired of being the hypocrite. How about you? Will you join me in saying, Lord, please give me the strength to remove this heavy plank in my eye. It is much heavier and worse than what I am judging. Lord, forgive me.
