What Spiritual Legacy are you leaving and to whom?

00:00-10:37

The question being asked, what spiritual legacy are "we" leaving and to whom> Are we imparting the gifts and callings of God that are on our lives to the next GENERATION or are we hoarding what GOD has given us to take to our grave? Think about who are you training to carry on the ministry after you're gone? Selah

The speaker apologizes for not sharing an inspired word for a while due to moving houses. They thank the listeners for their emails and thoughts. The topic for this session is about the spiritual legacy that people are leaving behind. The speaker discusses the story of the ten virgins in the Bible and emphasizes the importance of passing down spiritual gifts to the next generation. They mention the story of Elijah and Elisha as an example of a spiritual legacy being passed on. The speaker encourages listeners to mentor and impart their spiritual gifts to the younger generation. They conclude by asking what spiritual legacy the listeners are leaving behind. Hello, inspired by a word family, what an honor and a privilege it is to be back with you on the air, and I apologize for it being such a long time that I've spent not sharing an inspired word. However, I'm in the process of listing my house and looking for a bigger house. You know, when your family moves back home, and you need the additional space, you try to accommodate as much as possible. But I am back. And with that, good morning, good afternoon, good evening from whatever part of the world you are tuning in from. This is inspired by a word podcast. And I'm your host, Reverend Dr. Tammy Smith saying welcome to every one of you. I want to thank all of you who have been sharing their emails, their thoughts, and being a part of what it is that we are doing, sharing an inspiring word for you, the listener. Let me give this disclaimer. The views of the host of inspired by a word and her guests are not necessarily the views of Facebook, YouTube, Instagram. Use a listener or its sponsors. Inspired by a word host would like to hear from you. What's your take on the various topics that we share with you? The topic for this session is what spiritual legacy are you leaving? I was reading this book by Dr. David Ireland, and he talked about as adults, we have or have made out a wheel to determine who gets what we have, whether it's property, wealth, and how it is to be distributed to our heirs. We have or should have spiritual heirs. So the question today, tonight, this afternoon, or whatever time element that you are in, what legacy are you sharing? What legacy are you leaving? Pardon me, and to whom? On our church anniversary, there was a pastor who broke down the scriptures of the 10 versions. Five were why and five were foolish. You know the story, Matthew 25. The five that were wise were considered to be the elders and the five that were not so wise for the generations following. Let me read it in your hearing. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto 10 versions, who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were wise and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. And while the bridegroom carried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight, there was a cry made, behold, the bridegroom cometh. Go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, give us your oil. I want to pause right there. We were directed for those who were in the service, 50 and up, to go seek out the next generation that was present and impart the giftings. In other words, the next gen needed and needs an impartation of the Spirit of God, the giftings that resonates within you, so that they will be able to walk out this Christian journey. They'll be able to function and operate in the spiritual gifts for the working of the ministry and up the up building of the kingdom of God, and tearing down the kingdom of darkness, to preach good tidings to the meek. He has sent them to bind up the broken heart, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of prisons to them that are bound. She went on to say that there is a shifting or a changing of the guards. And we as mature believers should be depositing into this next generation, what we have spiritually. Dr. Ireland wrote regarding Elijah and Elisha. You know the story First Kings 19. Elisha was Elijah's protege. The Lord told Elijah to anoint Elisha, who would succeed him as the next generation prophet. What did Elijah do? He cast his mantle upon Elisha. And that was the beginning of a spiritual legacy that he was to leave behind. Elisha stayed loyal to Elijah following him everywhere he went. Elisha's mantra to Elijah was, as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So wherever Elijah went, Elisha accompanied him and ministered to him. Elisha witnessed the miraculous, the NMOG, the mighty move of God by the hands of Elijah. Chapter 2, verse 8 says, And Elijah took his mantle and wrapped it together and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they, the two went over on dry land. Now, when it was time for the shifting or the changing of the guards, Elijah asked, What shall I do for thee before I be taken away from thee? Well, Elijah responded, I pray, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. In other words, give me what you got, the power to do what God needs me to do. The words of Elijah, thou has asked a hard thing, nevertheless, if you see me when I'm taken from thee, it shall so be unto thee, but if not, it shall not be so. The Bible says that there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire and parted them both asunder. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. When Elijah was taken up by the whirlwind, Elisha took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him. Elijah left a legacy. Elisha began to do exploits in God, verse 14, verse 20 through 22, verse 23, and you can read all of that Elisha did up to chapter 10. Just to read some of the events that took place, and the MOG, the mighty move of God by the hand of Elisha. My parting words to you, what spiritual legacy are you leaving and to whom? Have you reached out to this next generation, generations X through Z? Have you mentored or are you mentoring them? Have you imparted unto them the gifts, the anointing, the spirit of God that resonates in you so that they can see you as pastor or apostle or prophet or evangelist or teacher, so that they'll be able to stand strong in the midst of chaos and confusion, so that they'll be able to live a holy and exemplary life, to carry on the work of the ministry, to go into the highway, into the hedges and make disciples of all nations, to preach good tidings unto the meek. He has sent me, he has sent them, those of you who have imparted the giftings and the spirit of God to, sent them to bind up the broken heart, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of prisons to them that are bound. When I return, with inspired by a word, I'm Reverend Dr. Tammy Smith saying to you, what legacy are you leaving? God bless.
