Complications include rheumatic fever and kidney disease, which can be deadly if untreated and cause lifelong problems. For signs and diagnosis of Streptococcus pyogenes, the parts of the body that the microbe infects are the dental plaque, hypopharynx, and the upper respiratory tracts of a person. The disease can be diagnosed through a throat swab culture or a rapid antigen test that can be done at a local doctor's office. Possible complications are acute rheumatic fever and kidney disease. If left untreated, kidney disease is deadly and can cause other complications that will cause lifetime problems.
