Sophocles

Sophocles was a renowned author who lived during the ancient Greek era. He is best known for his tragic plays, which are still performed and studied today. Sophocles wrote over 120 plays, but only seven have survived in their entirety. His most famous works include "Oedipus Rex," "Antigone," and "Electra." Sophocles was also a respected politician and military leader, serving as a general in the Athenian army during the Peloponnesian War. His contributions to literature and Greek society have had a lasting impact on Western culture.
