The court dismissed Fawcett's claim as they were bound by a previous decision that stated homosexuality discharge is not prohibited by Title VII. The author's conclusion was weak, and it would have been better if they restated the thesis and summarized the main points. A conclusion is important for clarifying the main idea and wrapping up the writing. The last paragraph in the article says, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed Fawcett's claim in a three-page opinion that noted the court was bound by a 1979 decision that held discharge for homosexuality is not prohibited by Title VII. The author did not effectively close his writing with a well-written conclusion. Instead, he finished with more information on the topic which would fit in better with the body paragraphs. Having a conclusion is important because it's how you clarify the main idea and wrap up your writing. If the author had added one last paragraph restating the thesis statement as well as a brief summary of the main points, then it would have been a much better way to end the article.
