The speaker discusses the importance of aviation safety and the unique challenges that come with maintaining aircraft. They highlight the difference between aviation maintenance and other types of maintenance, emphasizing the need for attention to detail and thoroughness in the aviation industry. The speaker also mentions the initial training required for mechanics, which includes learning about tool usage, troubleshooting, and utilizing repair capabilities and documentation. Hey everyone, thanks for joining in here today. Today the big topic of conversation is going to focus around aviation safety. So a little little background on myself. So right out of high school went into the Air Force focus on aircraft maintenance here. So I worked on basically quite a few of the different models of aircraft the Air Force has to offer. KC-135 aerial refuelers, F-16s, F-15s, and the B-2 bombers. So I have a little bit of experience across the the different platforms and quite a bit of maintenance experience throughout my life. So the big thing that we want to focus on here today is understanding the difference between aviation maintenance and all the other types of maintenance that happen in the world. So everybody can be a good mechanic but the critical thing that most people tend to overlook is the idea that it's a bit of a stereotypical response but when things go wrong on airplanes they generally can't pull over on the side of the road when something goes wrong. You know often when your car engine dies, when something happens on your car you can generally get off the road or be in a safe environment relatively quickly. Generally especially your larger passenger jets, you know everything your Airbus, your Boeing's, your you know all your major airlines around the world. So you generally cannot get get pulled over relatively quickly in an environment where something might go wrong at a catastrophic level. So from a maintenance standpoint and the maintainers one of the things that a lot of people do not think about is that attention to detail that that not your auto mechanic may not have but but it's really critical in the aviation world that that your mechanics and your maintenance personnel and your manufacturing people carry this this huge attention to detail and ensure that they are tracking every little thing that they do on a daily basis and nothing gets overlooked that they are doing their their basic checks their basic reviews. So a lot of it starts with your initial training. So when when you first became any mechanic some of the very first thing that you understand is is your basic craftsmanship right. So you you focus on tool usage, on proper tool usage, on troubleshooting and the ability to to gauge not only the personal ability but but drawing on all the different repair capabilities and documentation that you can you can use at your disposal. So again that's a that's a big thing that that you need to focus on as a as a especially an aviation mechanic.
