Today we're talking about digital literacy and its importance in everyday life with George Brown who is a digital content creator and has now started a YouTube channel to help and educate people on what digital literacy is and its importance in our modern day life. Let's get straight into it. Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure actually to be here. So can you briefly summarize your understanding of digital literacy and its importance in our everyday lives? Well, digital literacy is the ability to identify and use technology and creativity to use and improve our confidence in using technology for working and learning our everyday lives. So what can you say are the three main skills of digital literacy? Good question. There's actually three pillars of digital literacy. Finding and consuming digital content which means being able to find a piece of required information quickly on the internet and having the skill to be able to use it. Well, the second one is creation. Well, this pillar includes the ability to express oneself clearly and respectfully on the online space. The third one is sharing and communicating. Sometimes the consequences of sharing too much information online can be serious. So therefore, learning the risk is important. Wow. Okay. So how can you say being digitally literate in the modern age benefits you? Well, I can actually say I take and edit my own videos. And so I'm basically a digital content creator. And I can also drop out my own professional emails. When I communicate with sponsors, I'm also able to create my own YouTube vlogs too when I go on holidays. Okay.
