The Toronto City has implemented the Toronto Action Plan to combat black racism. The plan includes 22 recommendations and 80 actions to address barriers and promote equity in areas such as housing, mental health, employment, safety, and civic engagement. It is a long-term commitment to transform the city and create a fairer society. Toronto aims to be a model of diversity and to prioritize education, healthcare, employment, and community empowerment. The fight against racism is not just progressive, but a mission to realize the city's potential and promote equality for all. Thank you Navjot for your such vital, informative and detailed explanation on housing and homelessness. My name is Shasif and Shodri Sufi. From now on I will be taking over and explaining the next action plan which is mental health and wellness. Recognizing the exhaustion and frustration within black communities from repeatedly sharing experiences of racism without seeing substantial change, the Toronto City has advanced to Phase 4, the implementation of the Toronto Action Plan to combat against black racism. This ambitious and strategic long-term plan for 2021-2025 emerged from extensive consultations between municipal authorities, experts and crucially the community members themselves. It includes 22 recommendations and outlines 80 specific actions to address systematic barriers and promote equity across five key areas, namely housing and homelessness, mental health and wellness, economic development and employment, public safety and law enforcement and civic engagement and representation. This plan is far more than a mere document. It is a blueprint for transformation that can significantly impact our students' lives. It allows for the development of multi-year work programs and resource allocation, highlighting a long-term commitment. As we commemorate our 50 years tackling anti-black racism, we recognize there is still much work to be done. Hence, it is vital to systematically address anti-black racism to enhance equity and justice for everyone in Toronto. The Action Plan sets forth a new operational approach or rather a strategic framework with the primary aim of making Toronto a fairer city for all its residents, confronting the forces of anti-black racism and re-imaging Toronto as a model of diversity are critical components of this endeavour. Today, Toronto faces a critical decision whether to rise to the challenge and contribute to societal evolution by rejecting prejudices and discriminations against minorities. Acknowledging the various struggles faced by black individuals is essential to reshape the character of Toronto. Therefore, prioritizing education, healthcare employment and community empowerment will also help strengthen the city's economic foundation. Last but not the least, the fight against anti-black racism in Toronto is not just a progressive initiative, but the mission to realize the city's potential by promoting diversity, combating discrimination and implementing equality-friendly measures. Toronto paves the way for every individual, regardless of race, religion, culture or background, to contribute to the city's vibrant future. Thank you. Thank you everyone for listening to me with patience. My next friends will be taking over and will be explaining the next Action Plan. Thank you.
