Hey everyone, welcome to the very first episode of Love Lives Podcast. I'm your host Saloni and I'm excited to be here with you. We are all about navigating the wonderful, crazy, confusing world of dating, no matter your age or where you're coming from. So, whether you're a seasoned dater or just getting on the scene, this podcast can be a wingwoman or a wingman. Let's face it, dating in 21st century can feel like a maze. You're meeting through people, through friends, events or swiping those endless profiles. Finding that someone special can be overwhelming. But fear not, because I'll be your guide. Many of us face challenges when it comes to dating. Perhaps you struggle to overcome the fear of rejection. Or maybe you are unsure how to approach someone you find attractive. Well, in this episode, we will be giving you practical tips on approaching someone you find attractive with ease, confidence and charisma. But before moving on to that, let's approach dating with light heart and open mind. Don't make it overly serious right from the start. Think as if you're giving dating a chance, knowing that each encounter is an opportunity for growth and connection. Remember, the goal is to have fun and enjoy the ride. So, don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Now, you find this amazing person and your heart does this happy little dance. First thing is to introduce a subtle, soft exchange of glances, what I like to call the look. Make an eye contact, allowing them to notice your interest. Perhaps, smile is a great starting point. If they smile back, that's a green light. Gentleman sees a moment by saying hello or introducing yourself. Well, women, you can also initiate the conversations too. Do you know what? Who's your best friend here? Small talks. Small talks can be your best friend here. Now, let's give you some examples on how to talk to someone. For example, you meet someone at an event or a party. You can say something like, hey, I love this song. What do you think of an artist? Hey, do you enjoy this particular artist or what sort of genre do you listen to? You can say something very simple and classic like, what brings you here tonight? See, the point is to break the ice and find common grounds to speak about something because it can actually vary depending on the situation you are in. Now, moving on to, what if you want to approach someone but they are with company? Well, look for a moment when they are probably alone or not engaged in a conversation. Well, it's better if you find them alone. Then casually approach them. Gently introduce yourself and probably you can use the conversation starters we just talked about above or whatever suits your situation. You can casually ask to swap numbers, your contact numbers, so that you can meet up later in a more relaxed setting. Well, now, we have talked about that somebody, if you want to approach someone who is with company. Now, you couldn't find them alone. You couldn't find them not engaging in a conversation with anyone. Or then how do you approach them? You can still approach them. Well, it's a bit bold move. Introduce yourself to the group. Say something like, hey, I am, add your name. I hope you guys are having a great time. If you could excuse me for a moment, I would love to speak to your friend. Then to that person, offer your hand with a soft change of eye contact with a shall we. Trust me, this works like magic. It exudes confidence, charisma, some sort of sexiness. Okay. Well, now, if you're alone, don't jump on it as if you're on a mission. Take a pause. Look at them in what activity they are doing. Observe them well. Then casually approach them. Again, hey, I am, like, add your name. How's your day going? If you find them reading a book in a quaint cafe, you can ask them about the book, what they're reading about. Then casually add, hey, would you like to grab a coffee? Or maybe you can say something like, would you like to take a walk? Looking at the weather these days, I don't think walk is really a great example. But you got the point. Because I said walk because sometimes it is less intimidating for someone. And you can see you have the all room all alone. You have the window to choose whatever you want to do. Just try to make yourself and the other person comfortable. That's all. Now, let's jump into what sort of conversation we need to pick. See, the simple psychology rule is people love to talk about themselves. So ask them questions, which is probably, again, finding common ground in the setting you are in. And just ask questions that you will be even comfortable answering. All right. We have talked about what the things we should do. Now let's jump into what things we shouldn't do while approaching someone. For the love of God, please stop asking your friends to approach someone on your behalf. I'm particularly anti with this line. Hey, my friend wants to talk to you. Well, this doesn't work. Let me tell you why. A. It makes you less confident. Maybe you are and it's okay. Do you want it to tell to the world? Do you? I don't think so. B. Nobody wants to talk to someone who is unsure of themselves. Trust me. And C. It can actually backfire. How? You are sending your friend to approach on your behalf. Your friend is putting their confidence, charismatic self out there in the world. Before you know it, they are the one getting the number. So from today, let's just approach this bitch. Let's just ditch this approach. My bad. Sorry, I just ate my word. Let's just ditch this approach. And concentrate on asking out someone. Concentrate on first we look, then we talk. I understand. Approaching someone can be nerve-wracking. Because chances of them being interested might seem slim. But rejection happens. But it's not the end of the world. It doesn't define you. Now let's talk about situations where things don't go as you expect them to be. Well, rejection. I'll give you an anecdote. There was a guy in my gym whom I fancied a lot. He was a cute guy. And after mustering up some courage, I did a look thing. He totally looked bad as well. But then he totally chickened out too. I didn't understand why. But I never looked at him again. Trust me. I do see him in my gym sometimes. But that's it. He's slowly fading into my gym background routine. And from this instance, what I learned is one mere interaction shouldn't define me. So I will say to you, embrace the journey of dating with openness and ease. And approaching someone is all about practice. The more you practice, the better you become. So from this episode, I would love for you to try out these tips to somebody who you want to have crush with or thinking of talking to them a long time ago. Both women and men. Go for it. It's 2024. Women, we should go and approach people. I know it's not very traditional. But that's it. We are living in a time where we can do anything. So go for it today. Use these tips and let me know how it goes. With that, we finish our today's episode. I would love to know from our amazing listeners, how do you approach them? You find somebody attractive? And this is just the start. We are going to unpack a lot in this dating adventure. Stay tuned for the next episode because we will be unpacking what questions to ask to make the first date extra amazing. Alright, I'll see you soon. With that, Salonia Grewal signing off.
