Omar Bell interviews Aizel Wright, the current recipient of the Fulbright Business Scholarship to Colorado Boulder. The scholarship covers tuition, expenses, room and board, and provides a mini allowance. The application process took two months and included writing three personal statements. Aizel believes the time and effort she put into the scholarship helped her secure the award. The scholarship is only available to Sioux High students, and this year, only eight people applied, with four being selected as finalists. Aizel thinks her well-rounded package, including sports, clubs, and high grades, helped her stand out. Welcome to everyone. My name is Omar Bell. I am joined here today by current recipient of the Fulbright Business Scholarship offer to Colorado Boulder, Aizel Wright. Thank you for having me. Awesome. So what really goes into this Fulbright Business Scholarship? Yeah, so it's exactly how it sounds. It's Fulbright. They cover tuition, expenses, room and boarding, and food. And they also give me a mini allowance to spend as however I would like. That sounds amazing. How much time have you invested into your scholarship package? Well, I started the actual scholarship process in like December, and it's been going on since February. So the entire process and selection of the scholarship is about two months. Awesome. And were there any essays involved that you had to submit? Yeah, I had to write three personal statements of how I handled struggles in my life, what led me to be interested in business, stuff like that. Perfect. And do you believe the time you spent on this scholarship offer was what resulted in you getting the award? Most definitely. I remember putting in hours at night trying to get my essays revised, asking teachers for help. So yes, I do think the amount of time I put in helped me get this result. How competitive is this scholarship compared to other scholarships? Well, that's the interesting part. It is only reserved to Sioux High students. But interestingly enough, this year, I believe only eight people applied, and four were selected as finalists. Sioux High meaning your high school, right? Yes, sir. Why do you think your submission topped others? I feel like I had a very good overall package. I did some sports. I'm in a few clubs. And I think my grades really set the tone because I know a few of the other contestants didn't have as high of a GPA as I did. That's pretty awesome. Again, congratulations on receiving the scholarship offer. And again, thank you for your time. Thank you.
