Robert W. Service

Robert William Service, born on January 16, 1874, and passing away on September 11, 1958, was a renowned poet and writer acclaimed as "the Bard of the Yukon." He gained fame primarily for his poems "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "The Cremation of Sam McGee," which were featured in his debut book, Songs of a Sourdough (1907), also published as The Spell of the Yukon and Other Verses. Despite being dismissed as doggerel by the literary community, these humorous tales in verse have endured and remain incredibly popular even today.
