Who the Texans should draft in the 2024 NFL Draft
The transcript discusses the potential draft picks for the Houston Texans in the 2024 NFL Draft. The speaker believes that the team needs defensive players, particularly in the cornerback and defensive line positions. They predict that the Texans will select cornerback Mike San Rostil with the 42nd pick, safety Javon Bullard with the 59th pick, defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III with the 86th pick, linebacker Curtis Jacobs with the 127th pick, quarterback Deontre Prince with the 188th pick, running back Isak Guerrero with the 189th pick, defensive tackle Keith Randolph Jr. with the 238th pick, and offensive guard Katie Levinson with the final pick. The speaker provides scouting reports and reasons for each selection. They express optimism that these picks will help the Texans become Super Bowl contenders. And in the second round with the 42nd pick the Texans will select Hey y'all and welcome back to my youtube channel Today I will be going over who I believe that the Texans will select with each of their nine picks in this year's 2024 NFL Draft I believe that Nix's area will want defensive players as our offense is fairly loaded in and of itself and our Cornerback and defensive line positions need some help for pick number 42 I'm going with cornerback Mike San Rostil from the Michigan Wolverines Mike San Rostil already has a great record even though he just switched to a quarterback two years ago after being a wide receiver In 2022, he was an honorable all-big-ten mention at quarterback with 58 tackles 6.5 tackles for loss Two sacks one interception and seven pass breakups. He was also team captain In 2023, he managed to get even better Second team all-big-ten conference and tied for third in the FBS with six interceptions And two of them were returned for touchdowns He started all 15 games and had 44 tackles four tackles for loss One sack six pass breakups to force fumbles and of course those six interceptions Scout state although he is a bit inexperienced He's a great run defender has great twitch and footwork good field awareness and attention to detail He's also a former wide receiver. So he knows how they work and he has great upside. What more could you want? He's a good fit for the Texans because number one He is already this good after switching to cornerback two years ago Which means Dino vaso can pull out so much more out of him just like he did with Derek Stingley number two he's always in the right place great field awareness and A great attention to detail frankly, that's exactly what D'Amico Ryan's want He's also a great run defender Which it was a vital part of why the secondary was so up and down last year Well, he is a bit small the Texans do often do press man coverage Which he is very good at which would allow him to stop or not have any targets directly towards him I believe he could become a potential starting nickelback and would be a great fit for the Texans secondary our next pick at pick number 59 It is Javon Bullard from the Georgia Bulldogs The safety is especially needed now that Jimmy Ward is aging and has had a lot of injuries and Jalen Petrie has seemingly regressed in his second year and Javon Bullard is probably the best safety you could pick up He had the best combined score of all the safeties can play cornerback and safety Great run support an incredibly physical person and he is great in syncs I think he'll be a great fit for the Texans because he can play two positions So if somehow Jimmy Ward and Jalen Petrie are completely fine next season He can switch to cornerback and help out Derrick Stingley jr Besides that he's just an incredible safety and will fit perfectly well under D'Amico Ryan's and he is incredible Physicality with great instincts, which will be very useful for the Texans secondary He would be a great fit for any team that drafted him I just really hope that we do for pick number 86 I predict defensive tackle Leonard Taylor the third from the Miami Hurricanes Scouts say that Taylor is strong an incredibly good puncher He was 10th in the combine for defensive tackles and his real issues just lie in his technique He could become a steal for a guy with this much power and he has great first step quickness I believe he can be a solid defensive lineman for the Texans as long as he starts working on his technique next at pick number 127 I predict that the Texans take Curtis Jacobs of the Penn State Mitteny Lions Who is a linebacker in 2023 alone? He has 50 total tackles 31 solo tackles and 2.5 sacks Scouts say he is explosive has good tackles Incredible body control with good size and he's good with the gaps in ball The reason he will be dropped this low However, is he is a bit slow and reads and doesn't have as much instincts and he's not a great blitzer However, the Texans could utilize him because after we lost Blake Cashman There's been a bit of a gap in our linebackers and nobody has been able to replace a guy as good as him He will be a good backup for our linebackers in case one gets hurt and even be able to gain a starting slot he will be able to practice more and learn more reads and The best part is the Texans blitz the third fewest in the league Which allows him to play just as well as normal without having to blitz This one's a bit of a curveball, but at pick number 188 I have the Texans drafting quarterback Deontre Prince of Ole Miss in his 2023 season alone Deontre Prince recorded 36 total tackles 24 solo tackles One forced fumble one interception and five passes defense not to mention that he also managed to get a sack Scouts say that Deontre Prince is mentally tough has great eye balance and good footwork with good attacks He helped stop the run he was 10th in the quarterbacks combine and ran a 4.38 40-yard dash So he is incredibly fast for a quarterback He is bad at outside containment can get a little lazy in leverage His press redirection is not there and he just needs to put in more effort But if anyone can get that out of him, it will be Dino Vasso Just like he managed to get Derek Stingley to be better I believe if he just fixes his effort He could potentially start just across Derek Stingley jr. And become a solid impact player for the Texans Now the next player that I have the Texans drafting at pick number 189 is running back. Isak Guerrero Isak Guerrero is of the Louisville Cardinals and I don't blame you if you haven't heard of him However, he put on an impressive showing at the Colmont last year He had 132 carries with 810 yards for 11 touchdowns and his average was 6.1 yards per carry Scouts say he is a good pass catcher with a great blend of size agility and toughness He is impressively strong and very good at doing subtle cuts He will benefit the Texans as an RB3 Who could potentially become an RB2 or RB1 in case Pierce is not as good or Mixon gets hurt I think he would be still at pick number 189 and would be a great fit with the Texans. Next up with our second to last pick at pick number 238 I Believe they will pick Keith Randolph jr. A defensive tackle out of the fighting Illini last year Keith Randolph jr. Had 49 total tackles 20 solo tackles 1.5 sacks and he was a prominent member of Illinois's Defensive line. He is a team captain who is an active tackler who uses a strong outside hand to post a mirror lateral blockers He handles himself really well against one of the top left tackles Penn State Olumu Yuwa Fashanu He can get skinny and slip into the gaps and he is a capable arm and allows access around pass protection Well, he might fall to us is he's less quick. He has a below upper body twitch He doesn't have foot quickness or skill set that is really coveted however I believe he could be a really good backup on the defensive line Because he clearly handles himself against one of the top prospects in the whole draft So, I believe he could easily back up for our starters He just needs some time to increase his agility for the Texans last pick I predict that they will select Katie Levinson an offensive guard out of the Kansas State Wildcats He has a good body composition Wide pass sets you can bounce and stop while recovering from a bull rush He can literally bulldoze opponents into a new gap when he's double teamed and he's got a great mentality of Just hitting and pushing but not a big fowler and he has good foot quickness I believe the Texans will select him solely just because we needed him in depth last year and They're afraid that the same thing might happen this year But what he needs to work on though is his better timing He is below average hand technique a tall pad level and sloppy entry points They will draft him because we had a lot of injury last year where we had to go down to our practice squad just to get some new offensive line because everyone else was hurt and Titus Howard and Larry Metunzel are aging and might not be able to play as Well as they once were able to in an ideal world if I was the Texans general manager I would take all of these guys But D'Amico Ryans and Nick Cesario are generally very good drafters after all They did get Tank Dell CJ Stroud and Will Anderson So they'll keep stuff close to their chest and there could be some traits that I am missing out on But I believe that these guys will be the best fit for the Houston Texans in order for them to become a true Super Bowl contender, which I am very excited about and I hope all of these guys will be selected and benefit us as well The draft is on Thursday, so we should be able to see who they pick very soon Well as I always like to say in Texans and Stroud we trust Have a good day y'all. Peace out You
