The conversation covers various topics including movies, music documentaries, and singers' vocal techniques. They discuss movies like A Diner and wonder what happened to Steve Guttenberg. They also talk about Bon Jovi and Duran Duran documentaries and how the bands started out. They mention the vocal techniques of Jon Bon Jovi, Lindsey Buckingham, and Sammy Hagar, and discuss other singers like Dave Mustaine, the lead singer of Tool, and David Lee Roth. They also mention guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and talk about Sammy Hagar's upcoming tour. I was thinking of the movie A Diner, where Steven Guttenberg, I don't remember who the woman was, but he wants to marry this chick and he loves football. So he makes her, she has to pass this football quiz before he'll marry her or whatever, right? And I always mess with things. I was just like, I totally should have done that with you about movies and stuff. Whatever happened to Steve Guttenberg? I don't know. He's around, I'm sure. I don't know if he went to, like, the Coon and then just, police academies and went, I'm good. Probably made all his money and retired. Is he direct or something? I don't know. He was attacked on the streets of New York, wasn't he? Oh shit, really? Rick Moranis was. That's who it was. Never mind. It wasn't. Rick Moranis was, yeah. Why? Just for random or? Fucking New York. Yeah. I was thinking it was New York. Yes, you're absolutely right, because he was making a movie or something and then that happened to him. I think his wife died or got sick or something, right, and he retired. He retired 20 plus years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Well, we were watching a little bit of the Bon Jovi documentary. Yeah. Is that any good? It's good. I want to check it out. But it's not as good as Nickelback. Whatever. There it is. Nice. Nice. Right in there. But they show clips from the early 80s when Bon Jovi was huge and they got the hair and they got the fucking spandex and it's like, come on. What were we thinking? But it was cool back then, man. Oh, you need to watch the Duran Duran documentary. That one is even I can't even understand half of what they're saying because they're, you know, British and it's not their accent. It's the words that they use. I'm not used to some of their language, you know, some of the lingo or whatever. Yeah. And their outfits and their makeup. Oh, yeah. But I loved them back then. Sure. Sure. All right. And Duran. Sherry's going to be on her deathbed. She's like, Philip, come here and have you lean in real close. Yeah, Sherry. Nickelback. I know. You're drunk, but. It'll have a I'll have a tiger paw. If you ever have the chance to go see Nickelback and meet them, I don't think Philip will ever hear the end of it. I think it's going to be one. He might not know about it. I might just take off. OK. We were standing up after the concert, walking out and we had it was in the casino. So we'd been in the casino, we'd eaten and we'd stayed and played and we were walking across the walkway and you could see down to the parking lot. And here comes this huge truck going up under the building. I said, you know, that's their their truck. Huh? It's truck and roll. Yeah. But, you know, that's the truck. I had no idea. But I was like, why else would a big old truck be going up under the casino? I'm sure they're going to load up. And I said, yeah, I read it. It says truck and roll. I bet it is there. It was. Sure enough, we saw it in the documentary. We saw that truck and I saw it on something else. I was watching us all truck and roll. And when we got in the elevator, we were going up to where we parked. I was like, can we go down? Yeah. I said, can I go to the basement? He was like, no. I said, look, what if I just hit the bottom? No. I said, but I could just pretend that I got lost or something. No, he would not let me hit that button. Whatever. I could have helped him load the truck. Are you sure you could have? The band was probably gone. Oh, the band never touches their equipment. No, that's what I'm saying. The band was probably gone. Sure. The band plays, sits down the guitar, get into a van, and they're gone. Well, they have their own bus. Each member has their own bus. Each member has their own bus. That's great. Chad tends to party and the other guys are family men. That's exactly right. Chad, you're always in the same. Usually you're throwing blows. You're getting sick of each other. You've got to have your space to go. If you can afford it, it's the way to go. And they can afford it. That's what kept the Eagles together so damn long. We're breaking up. Okay. That is one thing about the documentary. It shows that they started out in a van, all of them. Even for Duran Duran, they all had a car. I couldn't believe they all fit in that little car. I'm like, where did they put their equipment? We took an Econoline van with basically a U-Haul trailer behind us. Damn. It's tight. It's sleeping with the seatbelt wrapped around your... Oh, my God. Oh, man. Well, that's the thing about this Bon Jovi documentary. Because Jon Bon Jovi is 60 now, and he's talking about, God, when I was young, this was so easy. But he has a vocal coach and he does the steam. He is basically propping up his voice hours before they go on. Have you heard some of that? I've heard he had a problem. Some Bon Jovi live stuff. Not good? Yeah, I've heard it. I haven't been in person, so I don't know. No, I've heard it. Like reading stuff, like he needs to stop. It's more sketchy. That's what I heard. And that's what amazes me about Lindsey Buckingham. He screams, but he still sounds... A lot of it's genetics, a lot of it's care. Lindsey Buckingham treats his voice and guitar like instruments, right? Bon Jovi at 22, I'm sure they were screaming and drinking. Dave Mustaine from Megadeth eats potato chips to get that voice. Really? He eats a whole lot of potato chips to get the salt. Really? People do weird stuff. Yeah, different tricks and stuff from him. Well, I heard Sammy Hagar. Sammy Hagar is still singing. But he talks about what he will drink and eat. He really does treat his voice. And he still can reach those volumes and scream. The lead singer for Tool just turned 60. And he has a specific diet, specific beverages, rest regime, workout thing, so he can sing. And the stuff he sings is very hard. It sounds exactly like the album. That's good. But that's all he does. I love Bon Jovi, but I think you probably ought to pack it in. I think songwriter, he should just... That's what I'm saying. Or at least adapt to different kind of music, maybe where it's... Y'all don't pass out, but Sammy Hagar is one of my favorite. I love his voice. He's almost in his mid-70s. I think he is, yeah. And from what I understand, he's getting ready to go on tour. Nickelback, there you go. They're in Europe, so... Oh, you know where they are, do you? Well, they're supposed to be. She has GPS on her phone. Yeah, let me pull them up. No, they're going on tour. Oh, God, okay. No, they're supposed to go on tour in Europe, so Sammy is now the focus. Oh, okay. Because he's going to sing some even David Lee Roth songs. Yeah, they're talking about doing Van Halen songs. Yes. David Lee Roth songs? I mean, from Van Halen. Yeah, Van Halen. Yeah, Van Halen. David Lee Roth, not on tour. They are not wanting that. They learned that the hard way. Yes. A select few songs every now and then, he will appear and help. Well, I don't care about that. I don't care to see him. I'm talking about... He even hired some... Y'all would know the guitarist. I don't know who he is. Joe Satriani. That's who they hired? Didn't Hagar get Satriani? I don't know. He hired someone, he said, that is so picky that they were playing some... And he can play like Eddie. I think it's Satriani. Okay. And he's so picky. Steve Vai. Maybe it was Steve Vai. I'm getting confused. I don't know. Maybe it was Steve Vai. Maybe so. Satriani is a good guitarist too. Satriani is before Vai. Satriani taught Vai. Oh, did he? Okay. Maybe that's where I'm getting it. But he's so picky that they had recorded something and the guy said, no, I messed up. And they're like, where did you mess up? And it wasn't that it sounded bad. It was just he didn't hit the note he wanted. And so he's very picky and he said he can do anything that Eddie Van Halen can do. Sammy Hagar had a band called Chicken Foot and it had Satriani in it. It had Michael Anthony on bass and him singing. I forget who the drummer was. Jason. Yeah. Yeah. They have played together with Satriani, so that may be him. There's a lot of guitar players out there that can smoke everybody. Well, that's what he said. I mean, yeah, Eddie Van Halen. However, this guy is like a perfectionist. Well, that could be good and bad. You know, you want to be a hard ass about stuff. Okay. So going forward, we're going to hear Sammy. Okay, cool.
