The JumpStart class taught the speaker about the exciting ways technology can be used in the classroom. They also learned that technology changes rapidly and can be time-consuming. The speaker struggled with podcasting due to outdated instructions, but still hopes to retrieve their podcasts. Their favorite module was slides, as they learned new features and shared them with students and teachers. They plan to continue using digital assessment and adding resources to Padlet. Additionally, they want to link book talks to QR codes for easy listening in the library. One of the important takeaways that I had from this JumpStart class included, well first of all, there are so many exciting ways to use technology in the classroom and I'm sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg, but I certainly learned a lot. Another takeaway is that the technology changes so rapidly and there are just so many options and choices and of course there are some features on some of the websites that just certainly will never be used, but they're there if anybody wanted to learn more advanced ways to use them. Technology is also very time consuming. I spend way more time watching the videos and re-watching the videos and re-doing the assignments than I thought I would, but I also feel like that if I don't use the new learning right away or if I don't use it on a fairly consistent basis, then I forget exactly how to do it and I need refreshers. I think my biggest struggle was with the podcasting and probably because the instructions on the JumpStart video were very different from the current version of Audacity that I downloaded to my computer. I ended up saving it to audio.com instead of the way that was shown on the video, so I hope that I'm still able to retrieve my podcasts when I want them. Also, I've used audio recording in my learning management platforms like Schoology or Brightspace that I'm familiar with, so I don't anticipate using this particular video recording way in any way, shape, or form. I don't know about my favorite module. I guess I would have to say slides because I already use slides quite a bit and I learned about so many of the features that I've never used before. I knew they were there but didn't really know how to use them, but I now use them and I've shared a lot of those features with students and other teachers. I think other ways that I will continue to use what I've learned is through digital assessment. I have used Google Forms a lot. Again, I learned about a few different features and so I've been continuing to use digital assessment in my classroom. I'm going to continue to add resources to my Padlet. I've already got quite a few there, but I love adding things to that. The other thing that I want to continue to do is to linking book talks to QR codes and then putting the QR codes on books in the library so that kids can just simply listen to them.
