Palmer Cox

Palmer Cox, a celebrated author and illustrator from Canada, gained recognition for his series of comical verse books and comic strips featuring the fairy-like sprites called The Brownies. Cox's amusing cartoons were published in multiple books, including The Brownies, Their Book (1887). Such was the success of Cox's The Brownies, that the Eastman Kodak Brownie camera was named after them, as it was one of the earliest popular handheld cameras.
