I'm going to have a musical shock attack and see him come down and turn his back I'm going to sit on the water with my cock I'm nicer than the lollipop But watch out man The high on the mountain are the cool of the breeze The little of the fish here are the tight of the tweezers It smells like a overnight ice and freezer The sun come down, the earth get hotter The girl fishy smell like a world of the water Welcome to Green Horizons a podcast about cannabis legalization where we will explore the highs and lows of the movement to legalize marijuana I'm your host, Owen Gardner and I have a guest, Mr. Michael Lenz and together, we'll journey through the legal and cultural landscape of cannabis legalization Okay So I met you through the I was in your class grade class 2 and uh Yeah, basically my assignment I chose to be about why I think weed should be legal Okay and kind of more of like the the legal aspects of it and also business Sure opportunities that would come with it I also think like uh like alcohol's a lot worse Mm-hmm Just like first handedly and also seeing what it does to like people's families and stuff and also through my experience I've never really gotten much trouble with I've never gotten in trouble with when I was like with using weed or any of that I was If I ever got in trouble it would be like I was drinking or something Yeah and uh you know, you just start doing stupid things Yeah, absolutely Absolutely I should have had everything pulled up Did you want to start right now? Oh, yeah, yeah, it's fine It's It doesn't have to be super formal Oh, okay, cool I'd rather do it like a conversation style Oh, yeah, that sounds great No, I think alcohol for sure is a lot more destructive than marijuana and I had the same experience whenever I drank when I was younger and I had a drinking problem when I was younger Yeah It got way out of control and I ended up you know, I ended up getting into trouble and had run-ins with the law you know, and marijuana doesn't do anything like that you know, if anything it's it brings you into your inner self right, it's a more reflective it's a natural plant, it's a natural herb and I think it has not only physical benefits medicinally speaking but it's also been used in spiritual practice as well you know, like people don't really normally know this but in India there's a set of like spiritual mystics who use it as a form to connect deeper to like the living spirit you know, in many tribes in Africa it's considered a showcase of friendship and wisdom so I mean the plant has been unjustly targeted I think in this country for over 50 years and finally we're just now the federal government's talking about taking off of Schedule 1 and moving it into a Schedule 3 substance, that's only an election year yeah, it's election year so 54 years later 20, 24 states to legalize recreational weed and then over 30 states medicinally for the federal government to finally talk about moving it away from Schedule 1 and so and the thing I think is really weird like depending on where you are even if it is illegal in that state you could be in like a city where they they don't care about it but you go outside a little bit and like have it running out there then it's a whole different story yeah, yeah absolutely I remember living in Nashville, Tennessee for a while and Nashville, Tennessee when I lived out there about a decade ago had decriminalized marijuana but the rest of Tennessee was a sea of trouble like you would get into some serious trouble with police so and then especially moving out to Colorado and seeing how that was done they were the first to legalize, right? Colorado was the they were the first state recreationally in 2012 so over, you know, 12 years ago and living out there and seeing how the dispensaries operated it was really cool you know, to see they removed the stigma from marijuana and people can openly use for their own you know, a lot of people went for medical some people just like to have it recreational take the edge off you know, it's you know, it's treated as something that's harmless I feel like I feel like a lot of the opposition to this movement like sees like people wanting to legalize this because they just want to smoke weed all day and do like nothing and be lazy and that always that kind of annoys me because it's like with alcohol it's like you're not unless you have like a real problem with it you're not drinking all day no, no it's like a no, and I would point out too if you want to I don't recommend smoking all day and most and most people I know who smoke don't smoke all day most are are hardworking people and they at the end of the day they like it maybe in the beginning of the day they like it most people I know including myself were not smoking all day that's a that was a kind of like the propaganda that the government was pushing to create the idea that people who smoke are lazy or they're apathetic they don't have they don't they don't have any intentions to better themselves as a as a as a human I've always looked at that as that's just that doesn't have to do with you're like using anything that's that's something like more like not morally but like that's that person you know foundation something going on in you yeah like I've had like time periods when I've been a very lazy person I didn't do much and I mean some people like that I mean I'm not going to judge either way but right but it had nothing to do with like smoking weed or anything no no no no no and that's the and that's the thing is there's just been so much propaganda out there against it and I put out there's a lot of successful people who smoke weed a lot of successful people a lot of athletes a lot of athletes a whole lot and I remember the whole remember the whole ridiculousness I remember Michael Phelps who was a they had something with Michael Phelps who was a gold medalist like what like eight time gold medalist swimmer he has like all the records all the records and and he got and he admitted to to to he got caught like there was a picture of him smoking a bomb and it was a huge deal and they're like you know Michael Phelps lost a bunch of endorsements because of it he's really the like epitome of like peak human ability yeah it's ridiculous absolutely absolutely in fact if anything he credits it he credits it with helping control chronic pain that he had from swimming so competitively he he had stories about his shoulders you know being in in severe pain from swimming and how marijuana would help alleviate and and and calm that tension so I mean if anything it contributed to him being able to to to stay at the peak it was it was Rick Rubin is another one that comes to mind I think of he's the famous one of the most famous music producers of all time Rick Rubin is a normal smoker of cannabis and he's one of the most successful yeah what's that Willie Nelson oh yes Willie Willie Nelson would be an example of that Bob Marley one of the most famous and influential and beautiful musicians I mean the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
