The speaker discusses the challenge of ensuring that Facebook displays videos and images in the desired size and format. They explain that when using dynamic creative, Facebook automatically chooses which content to display, but if dynamic creative is turned off, users have more control over the placement of their content. The speaker demonstrates how to adjust the settings in Ads Manager to select specific images or videos for different placements. They emphasize the importance of optimizing content for different placements, such as feeds, stories, and reels. The speaker also mentions that while Facebook's algorithms are intelligent, they can still make mistakes, so it's important to have some control over content placement. Overall, the speaker provides instructions on how to ensure that videos and images are displayed correctly on Facebook. So the biggest question, stop, lights off. Three, two, one. So the biggest question that I get asked by all of my clients is how do I put in the right size videos or images, square, portrait, so I can make sure that Facebook actually shows the consumer what I want them to show and the size I want them to show. And why when I use it dynamically can I not do this? It's something that I pull my hair out all the time with. There are two things that we need to remember here. When we are using dynamic creative, Facebook is about adding up to 10 different creatives, whether that's video, whether that's static, whether that's square, whether that's portrait, and we are leaving it to Facebook to show that content in the right placement. If we're not using dynamic creative, then we need to turn that dynamic creative off and then that allows us to actually load up a portrait or a square so that we can make sure that the consumer is seeing the right size placement in the placement that they're using. So why is this important? Well, for me, I still see adverts on my phone and it's gone up as like a portrait, okay, so we'll go into the sizes in a minute because I can never remember the sizes, but we're looking at a portrait size but the writing has been cut off, okay, which is basically telling me that it's gone in as a square and Facebook is now showing on a full screen, which is a portrait, but the writing on the side has been cut off. So even though Facebook is saying it's going to do the best thing and optimise for the right person seeing on the right placement, still not completely sold. Now, don't get me wrong, as I'm always saying, this is the most intelligent computer on the planet, maybe not in terms of AI, but stupidly intelligent. It does know everything about what it needs to know, but I think it still makes mistakes. So I still like to have a little bit of control. So you're probably asking how do we sort this out and can you show me? Yes, I can. I'm going to put my glasses on, I'm going to jump straight in to Ads Manager now. So again, start off by pressing that big green button, create a new sales campaign. I'm not going, this isn't about objectives and things like that, they're for other videos. We are going to go through to the ad set page. Now, in the ad set page, you'll notice we scroll down, we have dynamic creative. Now, sometimes that is on automatically. I think by default, it's generally off. So let's pretend it's off. OK, we've come down here. Now, if we select dynamic creative on and then we go to the ad page, we'll scroll down and we can see that we can select images or videos. Now, if we go for images, we can put multiple images in there. If we want videos, we can put in multiple videos. Now, we can have up to 10. It doesn't have to be just a video or just images. You can mix and match them both. In fact, I recommend mixing and matching them both. But for the purpose of this episode, we are going to go back to ad set and we are going to turn off dynamic creative. OK. Now, when we go back, it will look slightly different. So here, our media is now a dropdown, add video or add image. OK. Now, if we go and add an image here, you can see that this is saying, OK, for your feeds, in-stream ads for videos or reels, we can, it has come through as that. If we go to the original, same thing happens because we've uploaded a square. OK. For the stories, reels and apps and sites, a portrait, which, excuse me earlier, is basically 9.16 in size. It just gives us the centre. Now, if we, it doesn't give us the option to do anything else because it's a square. Now, on the right column, search results, we can move that to original, recommended is cutting off a lot of the image. If we go to original, it's bringing the square and we've got grey on either side. So, let's push that through and click done. Now, you can see here, it's fed it in. OK. Now, what we really want to do is make this look better so that when we are serving the ad to the consumer, if they're looking at their phone and Facebook decides that whatever the feed they're on, it wants to be full screen. And stop here. OK. Recording new video. 3, 2, 1. So, for when, when the, when, 3, 2, 1. So, when the, for fuck's sake, 3, 2, 1. So, we want to be making sure that whatever placement we are going to be sending our ad to or Facebook decides that it's going to send our ad to, we want to make sure that they're seeing it in the best way. So, all we need to do is go underneath media, we can see our feeds now. So, we'll see the feed for in-stream videos and reels. We'll see stories and reels and we'll see right column. And as we hover over those different areas, you can see in the grey, it's popping up with the edit group. So, the square feed is fine. Stories and reels. We're going to go over that and we're going to edit group. We now have the editing placement pop up and down the left hand side, here we can see change. We click on change and we're going to scroll through our images. Obviously, you would be better off if you loaded these up simultaneously. And there is my portrait one, which is 916. I save that. And you can see now that it's brought that one in. So, what you could do as well on your right column and search results is change the layout of this. Now, I'm generally okay with that last placement simply because we just don't get a lot going on in that particular placement. It's the stories, reels and the feeds where Facebook and Instagram is really pushing our content out. So, I tend to just leave that one as it is because, you know, it's chargeable for our clients. It's a bit more time getting things sorted out and I just generally don't do it. So, now if we go to the right hand side and press advanced preview, we can now see all the different aspects coming through where Square is able to fit. Square looks great. And then here, brilliant, stories and reels. You can start seeing all the stories and reels coming through the same, exactly the same formatting that we're wanting, which is absolutely brilliant. So, that is how you get your Square and your portrait into the same ad so that Facebook can put it correctly on the platform or the placement that you are asking it to do so. And just remember, if it is on Dynamic Creative, you can't do it. You will need to upload. You could, if it was Dynamic Creative, you could upload these two. The sales and Facebook will make the decision. But as I said before, I see Facebook sometimes making the wrong decision and I'm not sure I have 100% trust in how Facebook does that. But I hope that helps and I will see you on the next one. Bye-bye.
