Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers has been performing exceptionally well, averaging high points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. He recently scored 38 points against the Atlanta Hawks and 50 points against the Washington Wizards. The addition of Nick Nurse as a coach has contributed to Embiid's improvement in passing and playmaking. The team also acquired several new players, improving their depth and off-ball movement. Tyrese Maxey has been a standout player, showcasing his skills and potential. The team's offensive rebounding has improved under Nurse's coaching. Overall, Embiid is a strong contender for the MVP title this season. The team's depth and coaching changes have made them a formidable force in the league. Yo what's good y'all and welcome back to another video and in today's video we're gonna be going over Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. Now if you guys have not already make sure to subscribe as most of you guys that are watching are not subscribed currently at the moment. We're trying to reach a goal of 15,000 subscribers and yeah let's get right into this video. Now Joel Embiid has just been terrorizing the league over the past few games as he's been on an insane stretch. Currently he's averaging 33.3 points a game, 11.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists and also a steal and a block or almost two blocks as well. And Joel is currently coming off of a game versus the Atlanta Hawks where he did score 38 points but the game before that he clutched up for his team to give them a win over the terrible Washington Wizards as he dropped 50 points and while you may think he may have gotten like 20 or 30 maybe even you know 35 free throws he only shot 13 free throws and he made 11 of those so that was pretty good for him. He made 19 field goals that game and yeah I honestly just think Joel Embiid is the current frontrunner for MVP right now and he's just going crazy as he just had I think six straight games with 30 points. Like I said man I think he's the frontrunner for this MVP race and Embiid has led the NBA in scoring and back-to-back seasons as well and this man won MVP last season and somehow I think he's playing even better this year and I think their new addition of adding Nick Nurse definitely helped with that because honestly I think you know Nick Nurse in general is a huge upgrade over Doc Rivers and something that I think Joel actually developed the most on this season so far is his passing is his assists are up more than ever in his career. Currently he's at 6.6 assists per game throughout his 17 games this season and also a trade-in away James Harden, P.J. Tucker, and Felipe Petruzza to the Clippers for Marcus Morris, Nick Baton, Rocco, and KJ along with some draft picks and I just really think this helped you know the 76ers overall. It just gave them that depth that they actually really just needed and I don't think they've had this much depth in a long time because they also went into the offseason and they signed Kelly Oubre to a one-year veteran minimal contract which was great for them and this year's team unlike last year 76ers has been featured for more off-ball movement which has helped Embiid elevate his game. It overall is just a passer because when Embiid does face double teams now he has the ability to have teammates who can cut to the basket and give him an easy outlet. Oubre in particular has been sensational into that regard and the two-man chemistry between Embiid and Maxey that they've developed is helping Embiid overall as a playmaker and last season Harden led the league with 244 assists to Joel. Next to the closest pairing was Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon from the Nuggets with 155 but this duo was way more different than the current one right now between Embiid and Maxey because Embiid only assisted on 33 of Harden's made shots last year across the 51 games that they played in whereas he already has 31 assists to Tyrese Maxey this season but the increased playmaking load was really just by design because the Sixers had to replace Harden who led the league obviously with 10.7 assists per game last season while Tyrese Maxey is also taking a leap as a playmaker as well because he is averaging a career high of 6.7 assists per game this season and he can't single-handedly replicate what Harden really brought to the table in that regard but by tapping into more off-ball motion and turning Embiid into more like a passing threat the Sixers are also making it a lot tougher for defenses to load up against them especially in the playoffs because Nick Nurse said that they're just having a lot more variety and less predictability and he also said that not having the same rhythm to every game and not doing the same thing over and over just making things a little bit more unpredictable that way they don't know what's coming as much and you're harder to prepare for and Joel's assist percentage of 33.6 ranks in the 99th percentile league-wide among all bigs and he also has a career high of a .91 assist to uses radio smashing his career best of .65 which was last season but the passing isn't the only area in which Embiid is really taking major strides in because the Philadelphia 76ers under Doc Rivers were one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the league and they were last in the league with only 8.5 offensive rebounds per game in the 21 to 22 season and they were slightly better this last season with 8.7 per game which was 27th league-wide and this year they're sixth right now with a 12.12 offensive rebounds per game led by Joel Embiid's career high right now in 3.4 per game and prior to the season Joel never really top more than 2.8 offensive rebounds per game but attacking the offensive glass was one of the hallmarks of nurses Toronto Raptor teams and he seems to have brought that with them because Embiid is now bringing in a career high of 10.3% of the Sixers misses because last year he was only at 6% and Embiid has slightly been less efficient overall at 51.1% than he was last year at 54.8% but he's also created more shots on his own than ever before. Now Tyrese Maxey may not currently be a you know as good of a passer as Harden was but his willingness to move off the ball as a dynamic that the Harden and Embiid duo lacked. But enough on Joel Embiid I'm gonna do a quick rundown on the other pieces on the team starting with Tyrese Maxey because if you know me I've been saying this Tyrese Maxey is just that good and this season he's proven it as he's averaging 27.1 points per game 4.3 or 4.3 rebounds and a almost 7 assists and he just continues to come out every night and show us why he is this this young star and this man stepped up big-time against the Atlanta Hawks where he put up 30 points just last game and this was a game where he just stepped up because Joel Embiid has been currently dealing with a lingering kind of like an injury I guess and Tyrese Maxey definitely showed us what he can do is he drained four threes and also had seven assists in that game but he had a huge fourth quarter which helped him get the W over the Hawks and I think possibly even maybe one day we could even see Tyrese Maxey make a shot at winning the MVP but yeah man they also got other pieces as well as they got De'Anthony Melton, Nicholas Batum, Rocco, Marcus Morris they just have a lot more role players than they've ever had before and this is just gonna help them excel that much more as a team I feel like and Nick Nurse being their new head coach is just it just helps them that much more and it just makes this team way better because whenever Philadelphia does make it to the playoffs I feel like Nick Nurse will do a lot more than Doc Rivers could really ever do and if I'm a player I would definitely trust Nick Nurse a lot more on calling the plays than Doc Rivers but yeah I just like this team a lot more than the last season team is this team has a lot more depth pieces is they were struggling and before this season even started I thought this team was gonna be terrible because this they didn't really have no bench but trading away Harden and getting all those pieces back in return and even draft picks is you know definitely gonna benefit them in the long run but since this video is basically just covering all why I think Joel Embiid should win the MVP this season let me know down below what you guys think if you guys think Joel Embiid should be the current frontrunner for MVP or if you guys think he's gonna win it or do you guys think like Nikola Jokic is gonna win it who I would definitely say a second or arguably first but I think Joel Embiid is gonna win it for a two-time second time this season let me know what you guys think down below in the comments as always make sure to like subscribe turn on post notifications if y'all have not already and I'm out y'all
