The Chiefs are currently 9-0 in the season and have been able to overcome injuries and tough opponents. They have had some close games but have managed to make strong comebacks. The Chiefs have also faced criticism about the referees favoring them, but it is argued that they have been penalized and had calls go against them as well. The chances of the Chiefs going undefeated are good, especially with their upcoming game against the Panthers. They may only lose a game if they decide to rest their starters towards the end of the season. Overall, it looks like an exciting second half of the season for the Chiefs. Well, good morning everyone, welcome to the Chiefs Daily, I'm your host Andrew Alexander, I'm here with co-host Nathan Carter, looking at how the Chiefs are doing over the season, you know, coming off a 9-0 record right now with some hopeful prospects for the future in this big game coming up next week with the Bills. Let's just start off with last game, how about that field goal blocked in the game? Oh my goodness, crazy way to end a football game at any level, but especially at the NFL, and of all teams to do it, it's the 9-0 Chiefs, who lost to the Broncos last year, almost pulled us down, the end of the division last year ended up being close, so to come back to play at the Chiefs Stadium and to almost lose, just what a crazy way to end a football game. And the fact that the Chiefs have stayed 9-0 because of that game, it's funny to keep hearing NFL fans talk about how scripted the league is and how the Chiefs are determined to win no matter what, and the refs set it up, there's no setting up a blocked field goal, especially a chipped field goal from 34 yards out, it's just crazy. Right, yeah, it's amazing, well, looking forward, what do you think is that X factor, that key factor that makes the Chiefs 9-0 right now? It comes down to an ability to overcome, they've gone through so many injuries, they have played some really tough teams from the start of the season, they've played some low teams that they've struggled against, 7 out of their 9 games have been one score, and a decent amount of their games they've been losing at different points in the game, but they've had some strong comebacks, and then offensive injuries, being able to come back from those was ability to overcome, again, just losing Isaiah Pacheco, arguably one of the top running backs in the league, Hollywood Brown, Roshi Rice, both strong wide receivers, Hollywood Brown was a pickup in the offseason, a deep threat, Roshi Rice coming on, he's still just in his early years, facing some arrest warrants and still being able to work through that, and then they lose him to injury for the rest of the season, hoping to get him back by next year, but they're able to pick up guys like DeAndre Hopkins and Kareem Hunt, and make them perform, Kareem Hunt's doing some of the best stats in the league the last 5 games as far as running backs, and he's going to Chiefs, it's really cool to see. Yeah, it's amazing, it's cool to see how they're working forward, moving forward, here's the real question, everybody wants to know, and I want to hear your thoughts on it, do the refs actually help the Chiefs? My political answer is no, but it does appear that they can be a little more biased at times, similar to the way that they treated Tom Brady, if you watched any of Tom Brady's career, especially as he got older, it was clear to see that what became an attack on the quarterback, illegal hitting the passer, for Tom Brady, didn't look the same for other quarterbacks. When Tom Brady would get hit, the refs would freak out more about it because he's the focus of the league, Tom Brady was, and now Patrick Mahomes is the focus of the league, putting up the best stats in the first several seasons of any quarterback of all time, probably, if he keeps this pace, he's going to end up with just as many if not more Super Bowls than Tom Brady, he's an incredible quarterback, and the NFL gets its money from Patrick Mahomes, so much of it, they've had plenty of touchdowns called back, just like interceptions called back, people want to point to the stats that they've had interceptions called back, and part of that is because, like Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes knows how to use an offside, he knows how to use an encroachment, so that if the play starts, he knows to just pitch it up, throw a touchdown, if it gets called for interception, that's fine, because it just gets declined by a penalty. He's had one of the most penalized offensive lines in the league, especially last year, they had the number one most penalized offensive lineman in Juwan Taylor, 74, on the right tackle, they've lost two games, just last year they lost two games on missed calls by the refs, the fans clearly agreed, both sides afterwards, and there was a lot of discussion about it, especially the defensive passer interference in the Packers game that would have put them on the one yard line to win the game easy, and there was no DPI call whatsoever, and it was a completely missed call, the announcers agreed, the head NFL ref agreed, it was just a rough game, and then the refs aren't perfect, they're going to mess up games, they mess up games both ways, there were some questionable calls both ways in the Bengals game, people wanted to blame the refs, but in the end the Bengals never could come up with the win. Yeah, so exciting to see how things have played out this season, obviously 9-0 right now, hoping obviously to go undefeated, they've come close to that in the last couple seasons, performed well, what are the chances of the Chiefs going undefeated from here? So it looks good, it looks good for the Chiefs, the Bills in Buffalo this weekend is a big game and could be the hardest one to win. My guess, we play the Panthers after that, and as a somewhat Panthers fan, they're going to beat the Panthers. The Chiefs might only lose a game if they rest their starters at the end of the season, and that could even end up being two games, they're already two games ahead of all the other AFC, there's only one other team in the NFL that has just one loss, everyone has two or more, so the Chiefs have a legitimate chance at not just winning the AFC, but winning the AFC two weeks ahead and resting their starters and still getting the first seed. So they likely won't go undefeated because they're going to have to rest starters, but we'll see, it depends on how the rest of the AFC does. Awesome, looking forward to an awesome second half of the season coming up now, thank you for being here on the show and thank you to our listeners for watching and we'll see you next time on the Chiefs Daily. Yes sir, thank you Andrew.
