The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1st to 29th. It will feature 20 teams, including the hosts, top eight teams from the 2022 edition, two teams from the ICC Men's T20 team rankings, and eight teams from regional qualifiers. The tournament will have four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8 stage. The matches will be held in various stadiums in the United States and the West Indies. India's group stage matches will be played in the USA, with their match against Pakistan scheduled for June 9th in New York. who all are not waiting for the T20 World Cup to happen. And thus, we are here with all the things that you need to know about the tournament. The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup, a binal 2020 international tournament contested by men's national teams and organized by International Cricket Council. It is scheduled to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from the 1st to 29th of June of 2024. It will be the first ICC World Cup tournament feature matches played in the United States and in any other country in the Americas outside the West Indies. England are the defending champions having defeated Pakistan in the final or the previous edition. The tournament will be contested by a record of 20 teams, an expansion from 16 teams at the 2022 tournament. They will include the two hosts, the top eight teams from the 2022 edition, the next two teams in the ICC Men's T20 team rankings, and eight teams determined by regional qualifiers. Canada and Uganda qualified for the Men's T20 World Cup for the very first time, while the United States is participating for the first time by the virtue of being co-host. The 20 qualifying teams will be divided into four of five teams. The top two teams of each group will advance to the Super H round. In this stage, the qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four. The top two teams of each group will be qualifying for the knockout stage, which will contest of the two semifinals and a final. In November 2021, the ICC announced the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup would be played in the United States and the West Indies. A joint bid was submitted by the cricket West Indies and the USA Cricket following two years of preparation, forming part of a strategic partnership between the two associates. The top eight teams from the 2022 tournament of the two hosts qualified automatically for the tournament. The remaining two automatic qualifications placed were taken by the best-ranked teams in the ICC Men's T20 team ranking, which had not already secured a place in the finals as of 14 November 2022. The eight remaining places were filled via the ICC's regional qualifiers, consisting of two teams from Africa, Asia and Europe, along with one team each from the Americas and the East Asia-Pacific groups. In May 2022, the ICC confirmed the sub-regional qualification pathways for Europe, East Asia-Pacific and Africa. In July 2023, Ireland and Scotland and the Europe qualifier became the first two teams to qualify, followed by Papua New Guinea from the East Asia-Pacific qualifier. Canada secured their qualification in October 2023 after defeating Bermuda in their final match in the Americas qualifier. The following month, Nepal and Oman qualified after reaching the finals of the Asia qualifiers in Nepal, followed by Namibia and Uganda becoming the final two teams to qualify after ensuring a top finish in the Africa qualifier. Zimbabwe became the only test-playing country that failed to qualify. Now let's look at the groups and the formats. As discussed, the 20 teams have been divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage, and in this stage, the qualifying teams will split into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the two semi-finals and a final. In Group A, we have India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, USA. In Group B, we have England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman. In Group C, we have New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. In Group D, we have South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal. So, Now, let's look at the venues and the stadiums for T20 World Cup 2024. There will be matches in USA, which will be conducted in Central Broward Park, Lauder Hill, Florida, USA. Next will be in Eysen, Shoher Park, Nassau County, Long Island, New York, USA. Then next will be Grand Prairie Stadium, Grand Prairie, Texas, USA. Then in West Indies, it will be held in Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbuda. Next will be Dharan Swamy Cricket Stadium, held in Grosserslip, St. Lucia. Next will be Arnolds Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St. Vincent. Next will be Brian Lara Cricket Academy, San Fernando, Trinidad. Next will be Sri Vivian Richards Stadium in North South, Antigua. And the last, Guana National Stadium in Providence, Guana. This is because India are in Group A. The Rohit Sharma led team will play all its preliminary matches in the USA. It's the first three group games will be held in New York, while the final tie will be in Florida. The marquee clash of T20 World Cup 2024 between India and Pakistan will be held in New York City on June 9. It will be the first T20I meeting since Virat Kohli's iconic knock at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium in 2022 T20 World Cup, where the 2007 champions had won the thriller against Babar Azam's men. The arch rivals had however faced each other three times in 2023, all in the ODI format. Those of two clashes were in Asia Cup, where the first tie was washed out due to rain, while India won their super four clashes by 228 runs. The Rohit Sharma led side then slashed their arch rivals by 7 wickets in Ahemdabad on October 14 in the ODI World Cup against Group Stage Clash.
