There's a lot of excited excitement when Kirko Chaynes was coming over to the Falcons and what he could do, and like we've talked about between us too, it's like, for whatever reason, the injuries and all that were kind of hidden from the public. It didn't pan out like we expected it to. There were flashes starting out six and three, having that game where Kurt threw for a franchise record, single game, 509 passing yards, was absolutely thrilling, but it just didn't translate later on. It's nice to know we have playmakers around, who we know who is now, but who they have. I've seen Drake London, obviously, returning B. John, who for the first time ever, at least in my lifetime, we're talking about fantasy draft picks. There's a Falcon and a one and two conversation. I remember when Julio Jones was doing that, that was the last time we had that conversation. He ate too. He ate too. Yeah, and I mean, as we look back at the season too, there was flashes, especially from the offense. One of the most balanced offenses in the NFL coming into this year, being so high in both passing and rushing stats, but the question remains, who's the guy? Well, we know who the guy is now. It's our fearless leader, Michael Penix, who we're all excited about. A little bit of question marks when we drafted him. Jake Matthews, Chris Lindstrom, we'll talk about some of the injuries that occurred that are unfortunate, but bringing in guys and proactively trying to fill holes, I feel good about where we're at. Not so much with depth, but at least that starting five looks really, really elite and ready to protect him. Awesome. And potentially game-changing, NFLQB, Michael Penix. Yeah. Yeah, correct. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Terrible. I mean, I laugh to hide the pain because that is truly terrible from a lot of different ways, too. In the NFL, there's a bend-don't-break mindset a lot of the times, right? You can hold teams to field goals, you're going to win games. What can't happen is your kicker's kicking PITs every time you come down the field because we're breaking, not bending. And I think it's kind of a beautiful segue into what the Falcons have done in the off-season to aggressively address the issues that we've seen, which the main one being, we don't pressure a quarterback. I mean, these quarterbacks, they bring pillows and cots and set them up behind their offensive line. They can take naps. They can hang out all day long with the edge rush that we've had. I think when you look across the first three, I mean, main draft picks for the Falcons, it's going to be youth that has to make an impact early with Xavier Watts playing that safety position and already having to play a bigger role just due to injuries. But you talk about Jalen Walker, right? Like, this is a guy who we were, like, didn't expect him to be available. We got to go get him when he was there. And bringing in Leonard Floyd in free agency to kind of be that mentor to both him and James Pierce to show you, like, hey, this is how you play this position, this defensive and edge position in the NFL. It's invaluable. And I think part of that is we haven't had that. We haven't had somebody who can say, like, hey, I've been there. I've done that. I've seen the success. And now you have young guys who are going to have a mentor. Obviously, Jalen Walker and Leonard Floyd share that UGA connection in playing there. But also, James Pierce from Tennessee. And what that does is it gets you guys who work well together, whether it's in training, whether it's in practice, who can lean on each other and learn from each other in a really big way. We all know A.J. Terrell's a dog, right? So it's like, can we have someone? It seems like we have a guy now who can play that CB2 position and line him up. And we have guys, like when we're going to play against the Bucks in Week 1, where someone's got to cover two really good wide receivers with what they've got going on. Yep. Huge. Yep. He can't sit there and get comfortable. And you stack that up with a somewhat veteran DB room. Obviously, we do have young guys who are at play that we talked about, like Xavier Watts.
