Melody Neal, from the Waste Factory Studio, shares her experience of going through college without smoking. However, her roommate's occasional drunk cigarettes influenced her to try it during their senior year, causing her to feel guilty for giving in to the urge. Hi, my name is Melody Neal, and I'm with the Waste Factory Studio. I managed to go all four years of college without smoking. Well, almost all four years. Freshman year, my roommate would have the occasional drunk cigarette. I didn't think much of it. I honestly thought it was a phase. Maybe she thought she looked cool doing it. An emo, alt, rocker chick aesthetic, if you will. Pretty soon, though, she was buying packs every week. By senior year, she was even smoking inside her dorm room. I never thought I'd end up like that. But, one eventful evening as we celebrated finishing midterms, I don't know what came over me. I felt a strange urge to try it, and I did. And I felt horrible about it. Like I had somehow failed after managing to avoid it every year prior.
