hello it's us your favorites back again do you know who we are they know we haven't introduced ourselves tell them girl okay it's Megan and Josie and we're really doing it we're really doing that how you pronounce my name though Megan that's what I said you said Megan did I won't be able to replay it and here you say it wasn't it Megan every time I say Megan I mean Megan yeah but how would y'all feel if your best friend mispronounced your name every single time not every single time 50-50 I'm sorry I just don't think about it right but I will try thank you I'm adding up to my resolution list which I'll hear about later all right all right so most of you probably know us or maybe you don't know us I hope that you don't know us because that would mean that we're famous if most of you know if it means our few friends and maybe some family are listening yeah if that's the case hey if that's not the case nice to meet you correct so we are going to do a little intro but this is really just a fun time really excited about it tell them why we're doing it we just want to have a fun time we sit around talking all the time all day all day texting funny stuff like we're just best friends that's sweet Josie we are definitely your best friend okay so we may not even have a full season I'm kidding but yeah we just wanted to start this because Megan has had these really nice podcast mics for a year now maybe two years two years I think I got them two Christmases ago oh so yeah we've been talking about it for a long time I've had big dreams for a long time to make a podcast or many podcasts I hope that I'll make a lot of them in my time but I never have the actual the actual willpower to do it and Josie said that she we were going to be doing it and then she didn't make it happen and I'll give you credit for that thank you I probably would have just said I want to make a podcast for the rest of my life and never done it you give enough content that I can feed off of and you like I give you enough content for you to feed off of it you do have great content well we just mesh well with our content and we we just laugh at each other and have each other up so there's two content creators out here ready to continue to create content yeah we were communication majors so shout out to our degrees and dr. Kutcher we love you maybe she'll be on the podcast one day what a dream she would good all right um so I guess we'll introduce ourselves officially maybe we'll come back around later and introduce ourselves in a different way oh I don't know what that means but sounds I like it you go first okay tell me who you are what you do my name is Josie um most importantly I'm a child of God that is what I do. I'm curious. What was I supposed to put first? I'm just going to say I'm an admissions counselor. And I'm not even that. Right, but you are a coordinator for enrollment communication yeah something like that. No, that's sweet. You are a child of God. Child of God and we'll be talking about the Lord and what he's did in our lives because that's the most important and probably we should be talking about that more anyway do you feel convicted about that just like in our friendship in general and probably just in life in general bringing up to anybody not like a specific friendship in general yeah oh well that'll be on the list for their 2024 as well and hopefully the rest of our lives. Correct. So yeah child of God number one mm-hmm number two wife. Shout out to Aslan. Number three. I want to say the name of her husband but also she is child of God. Aslan doesn't mean God. Really? No he just represents God in Chronicles and Armia. If you could remove that. Delete. Okay number three number number two number three um a friend a daughter a sister I have a twin sister that's fun but I think they're faking it yeah we don't look anything alike that's the season finale of the show actually um I recently have become a reader I like to bake I did like to run in 2023 still be to determine this year yeah and that's a little bit about me that's great girl I'm 24 period and it's the year 2024 easy to remember easy to forget I was born in 99 so it's easy to like do you know why I said that yeah okay okay my name is Megan I'm 23 years old but I actually did see this thing on Instagram the other day and I was like does anybody else have a superiority complex because they're young for their grade and I got real joked out because I any time that anybody's like oh my gosh you're so young you're such a baby because all my friends are 24 25 I'll be left one of them I feel better than them and I don't know if it's because and it's been my entire life um because I'm the youngest in my grade I don't know if it makes me feel really smart or if it just makes me feel special and cool um but I do have a superiority complex for absolutely no reason because I am younger than all my friends hmm interesting yeah and I don't know why but I thought on Instagram and I was like I've never really thought about it that's 100% true and you know when you playing a board game and they say the youngest goes first I always know that's going to be me I'll be 24 in July happy early birthday thank you so much um everyone is invited to my birthday party by everyone I mean most if you don't get a specific invite for me please do not come and I'm also a child of God and I'm an admissions counselor we work together and we'll talk about that I'm sure because we have very funny co-workers um and that's all I got for right now nice what do you like to do for fun? I like to hang out with my friends I do not like to bake I hate it actually and I do not like to cook and my New Year's resolution is to cook less than I did this year which is only about five times and I'm trying to do it less this year. What did you cook right before this podcast? Chicken quesadillas and it took about four hours I'm not going to lie to you. It smells good though. I don't want to say it smells good just smells like a lot um I do not like to read either I do like to watch TV I watch a lot of television I think that one thing I am good at is watching TV I do it every single day of my life and it's important to my routine um I really do I love it it's very important to me good stuff next question what's your favorite color uh yellow or orange or blue depends the day okay what about you? Purple. Right. I'm a purple girl. I just think it's important to know people's favorite color because I think it says a lot about them I don't know like why but just and it makes sense in my head that you're a purple girl as a kid you're like what's your favorite color that's like a very like you knew what your favorite color was there's the pink girls there were the purple girls there were the blue girls there were girls that like I like rainbow rainbow unicorn and I saw a Instagram reel today and it was like the same type of vibe but with Diet Coke Coke Zero Diet Dr. Pepper and regular soda drinkers and it was like you could tell the type of person somebody is by which of those sodas they drink and I think that's very true because I'm a Diet Coke drinker and you're what of those four options Diet Coke Coke Zero Diet Dr. Pepper or regular soda. What does regular soda mean? You're a regular soda girl. I don't know what that means. You want me to go to a restaurant and they asking you of those things or do you want a regular soda like full sugar you're gonna pick a Sprite. Oh yeah Sprite. I think maybe you'll pick something else. I'll pick a Sprite. I probably wouldn't pick a soda at all that's why I was a little confused by the question. What would you pick? Don't say water. Say water with lemon. Don't say water with lemon. I would say if I'm wanting something besides water I would say Sprite. Don't like tea. Don't like maybe Coke Zero or. No you're a regular soda drinker. Okay sure. And that's how you can and if you need to know any more about us you don't. I drink Diet Coke and Jessie drinks regular soda and that's good for our personality traits. It is and I felt bad for Pepsi growing up because I felt like they were the underdog so I would get a Pepsi you know at like a pizza party or something because I felt bad for it. And that also really checks out. What's up next on the list? Jessie made an agenda. We actually this is our second recording for this podcast which is because the first one one I was mumbling a lot but it was just kind of also all over the place and it's because Jessie said we need to use an outline and I was like no we just need to go for it. And then I listened to it and I was like oh man we need an outline bad. And so then I was like you are correct we need to rerecord it with an outline. So now Jessie made one. So it's just better practice. Exactly. But I do like want to talk about what we want out of the podcast. Right. For the listeners sake of you know why would you invest your time into this? Because what's the point we're trying to get to? What what do we want out of it? So specifically like the start of it you know. What do you want out of it girl? I was asking you. Oh you're asking me. Sorry it wasn't phrased right. And I'm not sure girl. Okay. Are you? Are you sure? I was just gonna say we just have a lot to talk about. Mm-hmm. And we've talked about a lot in our lives. We've been friends for. Well maybe just I'm just gonna say let's just pause and correct the verbiage. No no no not pause the video. Video recording. No no no. What? Just go back. Oh how long have we been best friends? Thank you. I would say probably three-ish. I'm gonna stop fast. Three, four? Not three. No girl. What year is it? We didn't have to be friends until 2021. In the end of 2021. September or October of 2021. I would even push it closer to 2022. It's like barely over two years we've been friends. Okay well that didn't go that fast I guess. We've been friends for longer. Right. But all that to say we hang out all the time. We live three minutes from each other. That's our fun. Not gonna tell you where you live in case you stalk us. I'm sure it'll eventually be talked about on the podcast. It's not hard to figure out. And then we also work together in the same office. We work 20 feet from each other. That is true. We also have a lot of other co-workers and one of them is one of my roommates. She's walking in here now so we're gonna let her on the podcast. Her name is Carly Gadman. Are you really talking about me right then? Well no it's just a perfect segue because she was mentioning that we work together. Oh wow. Didn't last time you had to describe me as I was Megan's Carly. I was your Carly because your sister was your Carly right? And that was very sweet to me. And our take one of the podcast, Jessie's twin sister, her fake twin sister, her name is Carly. And Carly is my roommate and also my friend. Which she's Jessie's friend too. Yeah. But we were saying that's my Carly and that's sweet. Anyway she's here on the podcast. Tell us a little bit about you. Tell us what you like to do. Tell us what you're up to. Tell us what you think about our podcast. What's the segment? Mind introducing myself? Yeah. Okay. My name is Carly. I graduated from NCU in May. That was kind of a long time ago now. I do work with those of your wonderful podcast hosts. So exciting. Best time of my life. Jessie and I said that we're work sisters because we're the only people in our office that actually are in the office every day. We don't travel. So that's so fun. I did Jessie and Gage. So very exciting. Planning a wedding. Also fun getting to do that as Jessie's work sister because she is married and she's been so helpful. What else do you want to know? What do you like to do for fun? And also who's your funniest friend? But just know if it's not me it will be cut from the podcast. I was going to say I don't think I have a different option here than Megan. But do you think it's true? Like if somebody were to ask you that would you say me? I'm trying to think. Who else would I... I'm trying to think if there's anyone else I would ever think of. Am I the first thought? Yeah. But also you're asking me this question right now. You're obviously thinking about me. But do you think genuinely if somebody were to offhandedly ask you that and I wasn't anywhere in the room would you say that? I would definitely think of you. I think maybe I would try to think of other people. Like try to think about it. But I would definitely think of you very quickly, yes. Because I'm trying to think and I can't think of who I would have said. And also answer this for people. Would you say that because we are roommates and we do work together do you think that we're also friends? Yes. I do think we're friends. I think so too. One time I looked at Carly in a Costco and I said I think that you're just really one of my best friends. Aww. What do you think? One of my favorite friends or something like that is really sweet. Something like that. That's so funny. In my free time I love to read. I have a gel nail kit. I really love to do my nails. Which came in handy for the engagement maybe? No, I actually got some done for that. It was the first time in maybe two years that I actually had my nails done and I hated it. They were so uncomfortable and the man, I got a French tip and the man made every single one of them crooked. And the whole time I was just like I could have done all of those better. But honestly it did stay on for a long time so that was good. Like right now I'm still trying to peel some of the edges off. Another fun little tidbit is that me and Jessie are friends because we were both in the same fake sorority. We call them tribes at Mississippi College. And me and Carly were both presidents of the same one. Carly, you're younger than me. And I would say that that is how we became friends is because I was like the second in command essentially whenever me was the president. And so like we knew each other. We were in the same fake sorority. Here's the real tea. I did not vote for Carly to be in that second in command position and she did not vote for me to be in the first in command position. I didn't. I wasn't very happy about it. Who did you vote for? Whoever ran against you, bro. No, I might have honestly voted for you. There was a couple I thought. There were a couple. Maybe Catherine Miller. No, she ran against you. Yeah, we kept putting Catherine's name. No hard feelings there. But I did run against one of our other roommates who will also probably be on this podcast. Y'all will get to know Meg. She's awesome. She's the homecoming queen. Best of the best. And then also you'll get to know Mary Beth who I was thinking was listening to us but she ain't coming in here. But she's kind of psycho crazy. She'll be a fun guest on the podcast one day as well. She is. She's also engaged. I think we'll also probably individually interview all the roomies because Megan lives with three girls. Four girls in one house. I'm married so we have very different... To a man or a woman. To a man. I'm sorry. To a man. Yeah. To an Asian. Yeah, that's true. We do live in different environments. Anyway, Carly, anything you want to add? Any final thoughts? Anything like that that you'd like to say about yourself? About the podcast? About anything about your life? These are two of my favorite friends and I think they... You're going to just really have a great time listening to this podcast. And I think it's so fun that they're recording it right now in my living room. Especially like senior year of college we became close friends. She asked me to be in her wedding and I think that that is why we're still friends. Because she got engaged our senior year and then she asked me to be in her wedding. Which I did say maybe. Which we can come back to at some point. But I think that that's why we're still friends. Because I think we would have stopped being friends had she not have asked me to be in her wedding. See and I just had the feeling that we were going to be lifelong friends. I don't know why. So I was like I got to put this girl in my wedding. We're going to be real friends forever. And I think that you kind of get to pick who you want to be friends with forever. When you pick people to be in your wedding. You know what I mean? Everybody, people would disagree with that though. That's like a big thing with people's lives. Oh really? Like oh I'm not friends with people that are modeling. Like I never want that. That is not the case for me. Apparently. But that never happens but. Never mind I take it back. But I'm not going to hurt you. Totally. But yeah. So we just have a lot of stories together. We have a lot of memories together just throughout our daily lives. Currently in our lives now. So we just have a lot of content. And we just want to share it with other people. Because it's good stuff. And I think so too. And that's awesome. And I don't really have any thoughts or goals for the podcast. If I'm being honest. I am really excited about it. And it is like something that I'm like oh this is very fun for us to do. But I don't know if I've even really thought about it. I think that I should. We'll circle back next time. The main thing I guess of this episode that we're going to talk about. And I've hinted at it a little bit. And our dryer keeps going off. And it's the longest buzzer I've ever heard. But I think we're going to talk about basic New Year things. What do you want to do this year? Instead of New Year's resolutions or goals. We're just going to say what are you doing this year? It sounds less intimidating to me at least. Should we say is there anything that we accomplished this year? Before we jump into next year. Because for me personally. I did 10 push-ups. And I'm really proud of that. And tell us why 10? Because it's kind of random. My New Year's resolution this time last year. Which I really wanted to make a New Year's resolution that was achievable. I've made many New Year's resolutions. And I've never once finished any of them. And so this time last year. I was sitting around feeling lousy about myself. As I'm starting to make New Year's resolutions. Knowing that I won't keep them. And I was like you know what? Maybe if I just set an actual achievable goal. Like laughably achievable. Maybe I'll do it. And so I said in 2023. I'm going to do 10 push-ups period. 10 total. And I was like that's so achievable. Because I do one a month. And that gives me two off months. And so I did one push-up every month this year. Except for April. Because that's when Easter occurred this past year. And he rose up. And so I was not going to as well. And then in November. I took that one back. Because of just like gratitude. Thankfulness. Purposes. Thanksgiving. Had a lot going on. So I was like that'll be a good month to rest. And I want to tell you all something. On December 31st of this year. I completed my 10th push-up. Thank you. Thank you. And personally I'm really proud of myself. Not really. It's not much to achieve. But I do think that it is. Like it really did give me a sense of accomplishment. Of like. You know what? I can accomplish something. Even if it's 10 push-ups. And I think that I ended up accomplishing several things this year. I don't know if I would say it's a direct result of me doing one push-up a month. But I do think that that's the start that I needed. That's encouraging honestly. It's kind of funny. I feel like a whole book can be written about that. Probably. Like I did. I could do the 10 push-up of your transformation. Oh. That's fun. What are you most proud of that you accomplished in 2023? I don't know. I would really have to think about it. I would say you had a big one. What? Starting to run. Oh that's true. And that is probably up there in my list of accomplishments for the year. I did start to run. And I don't really know how I continued doing it. But I guess the Lord gave me some strength. Some discipline. You made it part of your race for me. Encouraged me to run. That's true. Josie became a runner this year as well. We both ran 10k's. We got over our running trauma. Which we'll probably make a whole episode about. Because we have a lot to say about it. And I think we should do a whole episode on running. Because neither of us are really runner type people. No. Never have been. No. It's not. It's an unexpected thing. For definitely me. I wouldn't be too surprised to meet you and say oh. She's a runner. No a big part of my personality until last year was how much I hated running. And specifically math. I think that I go through a lot of phases where I'm sometimes very other people focused, and a lot of phases where I'm just not thinking about other people all that often. That's very normal. Right. And it might be normal. Yeah. But I am trying to think about others more, but also just thinking more about other people's perspectives. I watched some video the other day, and it was like, once a week, when you're somewhere random, like at a grocery store, like in a gas station, or getting gas, or whatever, just look around and try to take note of the people around you, and just actually consciously think to yourself, what is going on in that person's head? Or what could maybe possibly be going on in that person's life? And today I was at the grocery store, and there was this lady, and she stopped her buggy for me to go around her, but she looked kind of mad about it. And I was like, why is she acting like that? She should just, you know, buck up and move her cart and keep going. Like, she doesn't have to be the one to pull over. She made that decision. And I'm like, making all these snap judgments in my head, because she's kind of got a mean little face on. But I'm like, she probably is just socially anxious, and Lord knows I am too. And I'm like, so she probably just pulled aside, and maybe she's still nice and nervous, and she's maybe not great at making friends, and maybe she needs somebody to be her friend. And so I just smiled at her and said, and I was like, thank you so much. And what did she say? She just continued to walk on. But I bet she appreciated the smile. And maybe she did. And maybe none of those things are true, but maybe they are. And I think it's important to think about other people's perspective and their feelings. Empathy. And I'm trying to be more others-focused. Yeah. I'm not very empathetic, so I'm trying to become more. I'm very, and this is probably a way that we differ, but I'm a very logical thinker. Not that you're not logical, but I think you think more in your feelings. You know what I mean? Mm-hmm. And I'm not. Sometimes I need help with the, like, yeah, logical side of things. Or you should do this because this, instead of, oh. Yeah. Or if, like, somebody does something and they have, like, a soft story for why they did it, you would probably be like, oh, that's okay because it's a soft story. And I'll probably be like, man, that sucks really bad, but that does not excuse your behavior. Mm-hmm. And I think that that's probably not always the best. Anyway, so think about others more. My next goal is to maybe find a boyfriend. I'm almost done with my list, I promise. Maybe not, but maybe. Maybe. I'm unsure. I'm currently not married or dating anyone. I'm living here with three roommates. Also a big way our lives differ. But I think that I don't know that I would love to marry someone this year. I think that I actually would love to. I don't know if I'm a big marriage gal or not. Most of my, I would say all of my best friends are married or soon to be married. I didn't think about that. I don't, I can't think of one friend that, oh, no, that's not true. You have close friends. I do have close friends. But my top probably eight are all married or about to be. Which means that you also will have a family, and that's what you want, and it's achievable for you. And you know that you want to be a teacher, and so you're planning to take actionable steps towards that. Yeah, but I've also been talking about that for five years. Right. But you're also 20. We're the same age. I'm older. Barely. And your husband is in law school. That's an actionable step towards life. Yeah. And you know what you want out of your life. Which is great. I'm kind of still floating, too. Right. So don't feel alone in that. Right. But maybe I'll figure out some of those things in my life. I'm getting my master's degree. Yeah! What? That's me floating, though. I'm getting my master's because it was just out there in the galaxy, and someone was like, do you want to snag this while you're floating? And I was like, if I'm here floating, I might as well grab that. That's great. That's a great accomplishment. And so we'll see.
