Maurice Marie Émile Leblanc, a French novelist and short story writer, gained popularity for his creation of the fictional gentleman thief and detective Arsène Lupin. Lupin is often compared to Sherlock Holmes, the famous creation of Arthur Conan Doyle. Leblanc was born on November 11, 1864, and passed away on November 6, 1941.
