MCA - Ep#2 - Music and money

Here is Marco Oros from Slovakia and my topic will be music, or how to get money, how to earn money of music. It is very strange question if somebody says that you can earn more money by music. No! This isn't true. And let me explain you something. I admire music but problem is that music has a cultural value, not commercial value. Of course I think of music which I like. For example classical music has a cultural value but commercial music, for example rap nowadays has a commercial value by money. So try present people who are in theater or in concert hall on classical music and now try present the people who are in the club, in the concert hall but listen for example hip-hop music, rock music, techno, etc, etc, etc and try think both things. Yes, those are main difference but for example we can talk about various characteristics of various kind of music, for example classical music or maybe hip-hop, maybe another things but let me tell you something. Try present classical music, classical music genres correctly and popular music genres, for example rock, pop, hip-hop, reggaeton and maybe another genres. Yes! And we can also count to those genres the traditional music. There are some exceptions of course but that's not matter. The main characteristics are like this. The classical music is very complex and the pop music is very simple. Try present the rhythm and chords of pop music. For example try present summer hits. Have you noticed this? If you are the musician, yes, maybe that those chords are same in most of the summer hits in classical music. Of course we can start from another chords but chords of most summer music are same. And this is same for example we notice on basic rock music. This is classical 8-beat. So this is just my opinion about it and try present the compositions by Monteverdi, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, Strauss, Verdi. Those classical compositions are very complex. Or try present maybe Indian classical music. Of course there is this difference, like for example we can't understand concept of Indian classical music by listening of the western people. There is very different kind of listening and all sort of characteristics of music. So try ask people from India. Maybe you are from India so you know about which things I talk. So Indian classical music has a different characteristics like western classical music. Maybe it is strange, maybe no. But let's get this. Or for example as I mentioned try compare the ambient music I think to the nowadays ambient musical compositions for example from Iceland or maybe from another north countries because there are most of ambient artists which I noticed. Maybe I would like to call it neoclassical music but neoclassical music can be also different like this. And those are main results of this. So ambient music is I think between pop and classical music as well. Because there are some characteristics of this that listener of this ambient music can get this like art. Because there is ambient. So it can be like this. And also I talk with my friend from Czech Republic about this that how to characteristic jazz. When we can sort the jazz. Because jazz can be between classical music and pop music as well. Yes this is true. Maybe it sounds very strange, maybe no. I am not sure. But let me tell you something. I think it also although I only listen jazz music sometimes. I mostly listen for example world music and various music with traditional influences. For example from Balkan I listen pop folk music genres. Maybe I'll talk about it later on this podcast. So jazz music can be also between classical music, pop music and also traditional music. So let's get example. The jazz music as I heard correctly was developed from the blues. Which can be classified as something between traditional music and pop. But I classify this as traditional music genre. So this is my answer that jazz is between those three music kinds. So for example classical music, pop music and traditional music. But this is just my own opinion. So let's return back. We can earn many money from music. It depends on this what you do. Try present people who made for example hip hop and who made for example classical music. Those are very different music genres. Of course as I mentioned there are different styles and I listen various kind of music. What I like and dislike on this you know currently is just this that music can be art. Not thing like we get from money. So by my thinking artistical music is more beautiful like for example this music like hip hop, rap or rock. But I can also listen it. And not many people understand the classical music as music. Of course there are some I would like to say pop classical music compositions by Mozart, Strauss and that's it. So I would like to say that those people are not listeners of classical music. Those people just admire compositions who know everyone in this planet. Of course you cannot agree with me. You can disagree. I will accept it. But this is just my own opinion about this. That exist for example another undiscovered compositions of classical masters. I've heard one composition by Claudio Monteverdi and it just remember something to me. Something from my childhood. I tried to looking for this composition. I think it was one year ago. And I found it. Of course. Due to this that I am not good Italian speaker. So I just try to guessing words. But I found it. I was very happy. And this composition nobody knows. I don't want to tell the name of this composition of course. But let me tell you. Maybe you know what they would like to say. There are a lot of undiscovered music on our planet. Maybe it is for example music from various traditions. It can be classical music from authors, composers who only know some people in earth. So that's it. And it can be for example some piece of music for example. Popular music who know only couple of people. That's it. So about it that we must discover something as art of music. But money is money and music is music. Of course. I think that money, art is not good for this. I remember to one of my talk and in this small talk somebody said to me that in this age you cannot earn money from music. I agree with this. Of course. The composers and various opera singers or players on the classical music instruments are required. But I think that important is for example study both gymnasium and conservatoire too. This is just my opinion. Or conservatoire and something different. Because music can be in this age for example hobby. Not your primary job. This is just my opinion so maybe you can't agree with this. So I'll accept it. So thank you for listening and I don't want to tell it that you couldn't dedicate to music.
