The presentation by numerous candidates resulted in a collective decision by the County Council not to nominate anyone from Rothdam. Concerns were raised about the candidates lacking political experience for the crucial role of President. Despite various names being mentioned, none were proposed due to the perceived lack of political knowledge among the nominees. The decision was made unanimously by the Council members. Well, the presentation was made by a large number of candidates and to be quite honest, it was a decision made collectively by all the members of the County Council that no candidate would go forward from Rothdam County Council as one of the nominee councils. The situation is, there was, as you'd be aware, various questions and I think some very valid questions put forward in relation to mostly the constitutionality of the role of the President and as a result, to be quite honest, I certainly was not over-impressed with the answers that my colleagues and myself put forward and I think this sort of, it's a very important role and I think to a great extent, I think most of them, if any of them, had no political experience and I think lacking a political experience for the highest role in our land like being representing Ireland on the international stage, it's very difficult for somebody to come in with law and expect to take the top role. There is some good candidates going forward from the different parties and the people have a good choice and I'm quite sure maybe other County Councils might have a different view and that there would be other, but I think that's the collective role of all of the members that have been involved in the Gael and the independent members and this has been come to unanimously in relation to that. And finally, there wasn't even a name proposed by anyone, it was a majority, it was a flat no. Did any name at all come close to even being proposed? Well, no, there was different names mentioned but then we reflected on the various questions that those names or those nominees were presented with and we came to the conclusion it really lacked a political experience and I think that's why the judgment was made by a collective unanimous decision of the members of the 18 members of the Oscar McCarty Council.
