Hello, good morning and welcome to Mandanga's podcast. We are now Frelluc and Jesus. We are broadcasting from Ferrarias, near Real Martí High School. Today we are going to talk about our island, Minoca. We are going to start with the most visited places on the island. Then we are going to continue with the sports that you can practice there and some typical sports. Then we are going to introduce you the fiestas that are celebrated here in summer in every town. And we are going to conclude with typical food, so stay tuned. As you know, Minorca is a very tourist summer island and there are many places to go. Some of the most visited places by the tourists are the following. Tourist resorts like Cala Caldana, Pinibeca and the charming White Houses, Sombou. Apart from these tourist resorts, there are many natural beaches like Cala Mitjana, Macarella, Sonsaura, Cala Escurchada. In my opinion, Cala Mitjana, Macarella and Sombou, they are the ones we like the most. But in these three, it's always full of people and it's not pleasant because you don't have many space. But not everything is bad. There are many beaches that are not very crowded. They are very hidden among the islands such as Cala Fustam, Cala Viola, Sesollas. In Minorca, the typical sports that people practice are the following. Soccer, football, basketball, tennis, padel, running and cycling. These three sports are really tight. Main races are very original. One of the most popular races is Tres del Fuego. Some traditional sports are Zinzot and Bulg. The summer in Minorca is different to other places. All along the summer, we celebrate our typical parties in every town. We call them Fiestas de Pobla. They are very traditional. All the people go to the town where the fiestas take place. Normally the fiesta lasts two days, but for example, in our town, Ferrerias, they last three days. At the fiestas, we do a jaleo with horses. In the jaleo, it is made in a square, the main square of the town. In the jaleo, people make the horse jump, which are ridden by what we call fachés, always accompanied by the traditional music made by the band from the same town. The horses are left two by two inside the square, and they make jumps, turns, and then leave the square. But the fiesta continues until all the horses from the jaleo have passed, and usually last an hour and a half. Like any good island, Minorca also has typical food. At the island, there are many bakeries. They are very typical here, and that is why a lot of typical food is part of it. Some of this food are the following, pastissettes, enciemadas, risottos, and many more food. In my opinion, the best ones are the enciemadas. It has a round shape. There are large and small ones, and it is like the dough inside a croissant, but fluffier. And they usually put powdered sugar on the top of them. Sometimes they also make them filled with chocolate, cream, and many other things. We are running out of time for today. We hope you like today's podcast. See you soon!
