Need an interactive and fun online learning game? Listen to this podcast to find one!
Kahoot! is a fun online learning game that teachers can use to help students review and practice. It can be used as a formative assessment tool to gauge students' understanding. The game allows for different types of questions and immediate feedback. Students can play individually or as a whole group. It can be used to assess prior knowledge, practice vocabulary, and prepare for quizzes or tests. Kahoot! also serves as a brain break and a way for students to collaborate with peers. It is a beneficial and easy resource for teachers to make learning enjoyable. Hello, hello. Welcome to the fun learning classroom with Ms. Lashway. I'm Lily here to tell you all the ways to help your students review and practice in fun ways. Online learning games can allow your students to review, practice, and learn. You, teachers, can even use this as a formative assessment to gauge where your students are at to inform how you should go forward. Today, I'll be focusing on one of these games that can help you and your students. Do your kids ever ask you what they can do after they finish an assignment or a test? Do you ever have a few minutes of extra time that you would like for the students to be practicing and learning content? Do you struggle to have different activities for them to do? Don't worry, I'm going to tell you about one game that your kids will love and is an easy way for you to see their learning. Kahoot! is a fun interactive quiz game. The students are able to do this by themselves or you can use it as a whole group activity. Kahoot! can offer educators, you guys, many different ways to let your kids learn and have fun. As a teacher, you can create questions that are multiple choice or true-false questions. You can select how long students can be on each question. For example, you can give them one minute to read and answer the question so that you can discuss it with them. Students can use whatever kind of electronic device they have. It also gives them immediate feedback. You even have it where they can have it where there are fun obstacles they have to get by in order to earn points. And you could create a code and send it to parents through whatever communication your school uses and have students practice at home. Kahoot! can allow for many different things for teachers and students. Are you about to start a new topic and want to see what your students already know? Use Kahoot! You can let them play this game to answer the questions and find out what they already know or do not know. It allows for you to write down and plan for what the students might already know and understand. You can also plan to address common misconceptions and misunderstandings. Then play the game again after you have introduced the topic and let students see what they know after. Have you presented a lesson? Does the lesson have many vocabulary words? Did it have a lot of terms? Do these vocab words and terms need to be known for a test? You can have them play Kahoot! You can have the students look at the word and decide on the definition. You can have the students look at the definition and decide the word. Or you can even have the students look at the word with the definition and decipher if it's true or false. This allows for your students to be able to practice and learn these words at any time. You can also assess what they are fully understanding and what words you may need to work on with your students. I was listening to a podcast recently on Brains on Universe about how much our brains can hold. It was talking about how powerful our brains are, but how our brains do need breaks. I think using a Kahoot! as a brain break is a great idea. Yeah, they are still practicing the content, but it is a fun and interactive way that they can collaborate with their peers. Lastly, do you have a quiz or an assessment coming up for your students to take? Kahoot! is a great way for students to review and help them understand the content. You can have the students play during a whole group session. This will allow for you to address anything the students might be confused on for the upcoming test. You could put this somewhere the student can access it, and they can do it if they finish an assignment early. You could send this code home to parents to let them know their student has a test coming up, but here's a review for them to do. Kahoot! has so many different benefits for you and your kids. This online learning game helps you as educators to let the students have fun while reviewing or learning or even practicing. Coming up with these activities does not have to be daunting. Use a super easy and fun resource. You can even jump in on the game and complete with your students. A great way to show them you care about them in the learning. Thanks for listening to this podcast. Remember, you're a great teacher. You can create fun and great ways for your students to learn. Come back next time to learn more about online learning.
