NFL WEEK 4 - TALKING ABOUT THE FUTURE OF NFL QBS

In this podcast episode, the host discusses the progress and future prospects of young quarterbacks in the league. Specifically, he talks about Bryce Young, who hasn't had a great start to his career due to being in an offense that doesn't suit him. However, he acknowledges that Young is talented and smart and could improve with time. On the other hand, he praises CJ Stroud for his exceptional performance and ability to elevate the talent around him. The host believes Stroud will be one of the better quarterbacks in the league for the next decade. Lastly, he expresses confidence in Anthony Richardson, who he compares to Cam Newton, as someone with immense potential and physical tools. What is up, everybody? Welcome back to the Liam O'Keefe podcast. Week four has come and gone, and truthfully, it was nothing special. There wasn't a whole lot to review. Nothing too shocking happened. So we're going to take a little different route today, and instead of doing a review of the week, we're going to talk about some of the young quarterbacks in the league and see how they're progressing, what I think their future is going to be. So essentially, we're going to go all the way back and talk about all the notable quarterbacks from the 2021 draft, which was Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson, all the way up to this year, which was obviously Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, and CJ Stroud. Along with, of course, the fantasy football segment that we started last week, I'm going to go over my guys who I told you to start and sit and see how I did, and I've got some more guys for you this week as we enter the first week of bye week. So if you need to fill someone in somewhere or any advice about that, we can get to that later as well. So the way I'm going to be doing these quarterbacks is I'm going to start from the most recent draft class, 2023, and then we're going to go back to the more notable guys from last year's draft and then from two years ago. And we're going to talk about them, rank them, what I think their futures are going to be, how well I think they've done so far. And we can just get into it right now with the first overall pick in this year's draft, Bryce Young, who has had not the best start to his career that you'd want from a number one overall pick and the quarterback that you gave up your entire future for. The Panthers traded their first round pick last year and their first round pick this upcoming year, along with a few other seconds, to get this pick. And Bryce Young has not looked as hot as fans of Carolina would like him to look. And a lot of what Bryce Young struggles with is just being in an offense that doesn't suit him yet. I don't think Frank Reich and the coaching staff has figured out how to play to Bryce Young's strengths yet, or it could be the opposite way where Bryce Young hasn't learned to play in Frank Reich's scheme yet. And we'll see which one of those two things breaks first. We'll see if Frank Reich decides to make a coaching change and play more to what Bryce Young wants to do, or we'll see if Bryce Young can get a hold of what Frank Reich wants him to do. Because the Carolina offense with Bryce Young in it is kind of like there's no real simulated open stuff. There's no Mike McDaniel, Shanahan offense where there's motion and your scheming guys open through blocks and run patterns and stuff. It's just kind of spread everyone out, everyone's going to run their routes, and Bryce Young, you're going to make the right read. And I'm sure Bryce Young is smart enough to do that. That's why he was the number one overall pick is that he was a cerebral guy who can run a pro-style offense. But it's just hard for him now, and there's growing pains coming with this offense and being a rookie in the NFL. And that's also the grace I'm going to give these first few quarterbacks. They've only played three or four games in the NFL up until this point, so we don't know what they're going to be entirely, obviously, but it's just fun to talk about and speculate and see how they're doing so far. So, you know, we're going to give them grace, and just because a guy like Bryce Young is playing bad now does not mean he's going to be playing bad for his whole career or vice versa. But back to Bryce Young, you know, it's just not the best position. They had to give up a lot of assets to get to where they are with the number one overall pick, and it's going to wear its ugly head, obviously. They gave a bad contract to Adam Thielen, who's 34 years old and shouldn't be receiving that much money. They gave a big contract to Miles Sanders, who hasn't turned out, which is also due to the fall-off of the Carolina Panthers offensive line. At the end of last year, the Carolina offensive line looked like a pretty strong unit, all things considered. They were really good at run blocking and pretty good at pass blocking, and that's what made their team so good was that they were multidimensional. They weren't just a throw it all the time, run it all the time. They could get you on the ground or through the air. I remember last year, with the same offensive line pretty much, I know it's been banged up a little bit, they rushed for 300 yards on the Detroit Lions. And obviously, they weren't going to rush for 300 yards on everybody, and you didn't expect that this year, but they got an upgrade at running back, and you assume that would equate to being able to have your rookie quarterback depend on its run game a little more, which just hasn't happened. Miles Sanders, who everyone thought was going to have a good year, because he had a great year last year, and he was getting a bigger volume and a bigger workload than he was last year. And, you know, people thought that would equate to him playing better, which just hasn't happened. He had 19 yards on 13 carries. That's awful. That's not good running back stuff at all. So, you know, Bryce Young hasn't been put in the best situation to succeed, and Carolina's kind of in a tough spot right now with what they've built around Bryce Young and the assets they've invested into guys that haven't really worked out yet. But Bryce Young is a very talented quarterback. He's a very smart quarterback. A guy I think can make it in the league for a very long time. But for right now, the situation around him isn't helping him, and it's not looking like Bryce Young's one of those top-tier guys who can elevate mid-level talent to be really good, like a Mahomes or an Allen or one of those guys. However, on the other hand, we have a guy in C.J. Stroud who is elevating talent and having it exceed expectations. Because, like I said last week, the Texans look really good. Nothing stopped this week. They destroyed the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I know Kenny Pickett got hurt, and we'll talk about him later, but even before Kenny Pickett came out of the game, Houston was just dominating on offense, man. They look really strong. Tank Dell is looking amazing. Robert Woods has looked like he's turned back the clock a little bit, which no one thought would happen after his time in Tennessee. And that's all as a result of C.J. Stroud. He is having one of the best rookie seasons in quarterback history. The only guy who has more passing attempts than him in his first four starts is Cam Newton. And Cam Newton had, like, the most legendary rookie year of all time. He was amazing. And C.J. Stroud has still yet to record a turnover through five games. It's electric stuff we're seeing here from Stroud, and I'm honestly very confident in saying that he will be one of the better quarterbacks for the next 10 to 12 years-ish, because he is showing the trait that he can elevate any level of talent. He has bad receivers around him right now. We've talked about this time and time again, but they keep outperforming expectations, and with a skill set like that, you can make it in the league for a long time if injuries and such go your way. He's not the most physical athlete of all time. He's not the smartest, but just the way he moves and the way he can play the game is so smooth and so on target, it's incredible. He looks very relaxed. He doesn't look flustered at all, which is what most people thought would happen, especially after he went to the Texans. They assumed that the line wouldn't be able to hold up, the receivers would never be able to create separation, and he would just drown out there because the change from Ohio State to Texas was just too much. And I thought that too. You can look back to some of my earlier podcasts. I thought that C.J. Stroud was going to struggle, but that couldn't be any further from the truth. He is excelling in his first few starts. The one question mark, though, I do have about C.J. Stroud is I want to know where his ceiling is, and that's the one thing that I question about him and why people didn't think he was worth the first overall pick. And that's how much can he elevate an offense on his own? Because he's doing it right now, but it's not at a super elite, like top 10, like barely top 15 level, in my opinion. And that's where I think Stroud will be during his time in the league. He'll be a guy who always hovers around the 11th, 12th, 13th best quarterback in the league. I don't think he has that real X factor to take over games and seasons in the way that you'd need to win a Super Bowl. I think you don't have to put the best tools around him, like Brock Purdy and San Francisco, to be productive, but you're going to have to surround him with some pretty serious talent. And honestly, if I had to find a comp for him in the league right now, I think Tua Tungavailoa is a great comp for him. Both guys who are good on their own, not amazing, but if you get them in the right situation, they can fly on their own and play some very, very good football. The last guy, though, from this list of quarterbacks, I have no worry about his ceiling at all. And that's Anthony Richardson. He is looking so good out there, man. He can run the ball with ease. He throws the ball fine. The offense is tailored perfectly towards him. He is in the best situation out of these rookie quarterbacks. And with his physical tools, he's unstoppable to bring down and stop, so you're never going to have that limitation there. Even if he never develops fully as a passer and he never matures with his footwork and poise, he can be a really, really elite top-level quarterback in this league. He looks like Cam Newton. We said that CJ Stroud was putting up those rookie Cam Newton numbers. Anthony Richardson could just be Cam Newton, one of the best quarterbacks of the last decade. He looks so similar to him in their play styles. Big guys, not afraid to run the ball, crazy arm talent. So if Anthony Richardson can put it all together and be in the best situation a guy like Cam Newton has ever been in, we could really see an explosive offense because that was the thing. Cam Newton was this generational talent but was never in the best situation possible. His weapons were always lackluster. Like Ted Ginn and Calvin Benjamin and Greg Olson are not guys you should be surrounding your MVP superstar quarterback that Cam Newton was. The defenses were never all that amazing. They did have prime Deontay Jackson back in his time but they never surrounded Cam with the right tools and then he ended up getting injured and was a shell of his former self. So this is a time for the NFL to see what a guy like Cam Newton could really have been in Anthony Richardson here. And I am so excited for the future of Anthony Richardson. People thought that he was not going to look strong in his first few games just like Stroud but it couldn't be any further from the truth, man. And I really have no negatives to show for Anthony Richardson right now. He's looking great and this is a team, the Indianapolis Colts, that can have a really bright future ahead of them because they have all their assets. All of their good players are still really young on offense especially. We'll have to see what happens with Jonathan Taylor in that trade. But if they end up trading him that might not even be the worst thing because if you can trade a running back for valuable assets, it doesn't have to be a first round pick or anything, but if you can get a couple day two picks for a running back like Jonathan Taylor, that only helps you because you have such a great running threat in Anthony Richardson. So going into the year, I was definitely down on Anthony Richardson and the Colts. But after watching Anthony Richardson play and realizing the situation they're in now, they're one of the brightest teams in the next few years. And once they shore up that defense a little more, I think they could be really, really dangerous. And while I'm still pretty high on all three of the main quarterbacks from this draft class, I think that Anthony Richardson is head and shoulders the brightest future and the best one right now. And that's going to do it for the guys in the most recent draft class. They all look pretty bright. They all look really special and better than I thought they would coming out. But now we're going to talk about a little bit of a weaker draft class, some guys that I don't really believe in as much or have that long-term franchise guy type value. And we're going to start with Kenny Pickett, who just things can't go right for Kenny Pickett. He has a horrible offensive coordinator. His weapons keep getting injured. And, like, it's just a rough situation for him right now. And on top of that, he's just not that guy. I didn't like him coming out of college. I don't like him being taken in the first round. And the Steelers have invested into him. They've given him their confidence. And now he's injured and he sucks. Like, I just don't get it, man. I have not seen positives out of Kenny Pickett yet. He had seven touchdowns to nine interceptions last year. And it's not getting much better this year. He only has four touchdowns to four interceptions with a 29.3 quarterback rating, which is 30th in the league out of 32 quarterbacks. This guy just isn't it. He's been hyped up by Steelers fans because he's supposed to be the next Big Ben, and he's the first quarterback they've taken in years. You know, when was the last time Pittsburgh had a change of quarterback? So, like, I just don't like him, man, truthfully. Everything about Kenny Pickett gives me bad vibes. He can't hang in the pocket. He can't, like, create on his own. He tries to run, but, like, it's just not fast enough. He tries to create and escape, but his arm's just not, like, strong enough to hit those crazy deep bombs and comebacks and cross-field routes. So he has the mentality of a quarterback that can be really good, but none of the physical abilities and tools of a guy that could be really good. Operating in structure for him is really hard, and operating out of structure is really poor, and that leads to bad quarterback play and bad team play. And now that he's injured his knee, I'm not sure how much of him we're going to see this season. It doesn't seem to be too bad of an injury, but I'm just not a Kenny Pickett guy. And as I mentioned before, he's not in a perfect situation, so he could hypothetically play better than he is now. Matt Canada is an awful offensive coordinator. He's trying to do what they do in San Francisco and failing miserably. He's not from the Shanahan tree. It looks like he's just, like, looking across the league and he's like, ooh, that works, let's try that, and not actually knowing how to do it because he's just running these weird jet sweeps and draw plays without having any of the line movement to go with it, and it's just not working out the way that it should be. And he isn't trying to change anything after, like, years of this happening. Every time the Steelers lose, you see that clip of Snoop Dogg being like, Mike Tomlin, Matt Canada sucks, fire him now, and it's, like, all over my TikTok feed. It's the only thing I see. But it's also, like, Kenny Pickett isn't operating it well either. So it's got to be both things. But people don't want to hate on their young quarterback because it's easier to hate on the coach. So those are kind of my thoughts on Kenny Pickett. Nothing special, should have been taken in the first round. It was a weak draft of quarterbacks. That's why there's not too many to talk about on this list, and I'm not going to go too in-depth with any of them. But, like, just don't like him, bad vibes. We can move on to another guy who I'm not so sure about. He hasn't gotten the same chance, and that's Sam Howell. If I had to describe Sam Howell, I would say he's literally just Baker Mayfield again. They play, like, the exact same style. Small, not super athletic dudes with cannons of an arms with great wide receivers. Tell me that isn't Baker Mayfield right now. They're the same guy, and we know what Baker Mayfield is, so we know what Sam Howell is. Baker Mayfield can operate and structure and give you a little bit of creativity. Sam Howell can operate and structure and give you a little bit of creativity. But don't ask him to be doing too much, and that's why Baker Mayfield is playing better than Sam Howell. People have figured out that Baker Mayfield can't read out an offense fully on his own, and he needs to have some schemed open looks and some help for him in terms of, like, rollouts and stuff like that. And that's what Kevin Stefanski did in Cleveland, and that's what they're doing now in Tampa. And that's why Baker looks great in Cleveland and looks great in Tampa, but looks bad in Carolina and in L.A. because that wasn't the offense suited for Baker, and this isn't the offense suited for Howell. Sam Howell could look great in Tampa Bay right now, and the dialogue on him would be completely different, but he's playing in Washington, where the offense is a little more like standard. Do it yourself, read it out, throw the throw you think it should be. And Sam Howell is so, like, one-read oriented that even if you don't tell him to lock on to one guy, he's going to lock on to one guy on his own and just throw it all the way down the field. Watching Sam Howell film, you can just see his eyes lock on to one guy the entire route, and he's going to throw it, and it's either going to be incomplete and it's going to be an incredible play, or it's going to be tipped, incomplete pick, any of the other things, or he'll just scramble out and try and make something incredible happen, and it usually doesn't happen. But he was a fifth-round pick, nothing too crazy to talk about. Honestly, the only reason I'm bringing him up right now is so I'm not just talking about Kenny Pickett in the 2022 class because it wasn't an interesting class. Malik Willis, not good, not going to be a good quarterback, and I can't even think of the other guys, Matt Corral, awful. Oh! I didn't even have this in my notes. Desmond Ritter was in this class. You all know how I feel about Desmond Ritter. Get him out of here. He's somehow being non-aggressive but putting the ball in harm's way, so it's the worst of both worlds. It's like the anti-Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers, like, would be aggressive and not put the ball in harm's way with it, so it could be explosive plays. But, like, Desmond Ritter is the opposite. He won't throw these super crazy downfield shots to try and gain yards, but Desmond Ritter will just, like, miss these dinks and dunks and have poor accuracy and still put the ball in harm's way and almost have, like, I want to see how many turnover-worthy plays they have him at because it is brutal, man. Every pass, you're like, wow, that could have been intercepted. Wow, that should have been picked. Wow, that's, like, almost a fumble play. And he's just not the game-manager guy they need in Atlanta. So that's all I'm going to talk about for this class of quarterbacks. 2022 was nothing special, but 2021 is where you can really get into it. These guys have been in the league the longest. They're the most interesting group. There's a lot of different dynamics you can see around the league with them. So these guys right here are definitely the most fun to talk about. So we're going to start with the best one, the one taken first overall, the guy who looks like a top-ten quarterback in the league already, Trevor Lawrence, baby, the prince who was promised. Everyone knew he was going to be good since his first snap at Clemson all the way back in college. He's just been special for them, man. And then he got to Jacksonville, and he didn't look great in his first season, but that's just because Urban Meyer was one of the worst head coaches of all time. He didn't even make it through the full year. That's how you know it's bad. But Trevor Lawrence, he is great. He got his weapons around him finally, and he's having a rough start to this year, but I'm willing to overlook that due to his immense success last year and the potential I see in him right now because the team around him isn't fantastic, and he's still putting up good numbers. You know, they just destroyed Desmond Ritter and the Atlanta Falcons in London last week, which was an interesting thing on its own with the whole Toy Story cast. And we don't need to talk about that right now. That's just all rough. But Trevor Lawrence is fantastic. He's going to be a top five quarterback for years and years to come. He's really special, and the organization is doing their best to get him in the right spot to succeed. And out of everyone on this list so far, out of Young and Stroud and Anthony Richardson and Kenny Pickett, I think Trevor Lawrence is going to have the best career out of any of these guys. He is definitely going to win a Super Bowl. He's definitely going to rack up an MVP or two. Just with a talent like that, how could you not? He is so elite. He's so special in every single way. Like, there's, like, almost no bad things to say about him, man, except for, like, his receivers aren't the best at catching the ball. Like, he'll put it right on the receiver, and sometimes they'll drop it. You know, Zay Jones had that problem. Evan Ingram has that problem. Calvin Ridley has that problem sometimes. So the only issue with Trevor Lawrence is how bad his weapons can be at times. But even then, they've been pretty good this year. Calvin Ridley's been creating the explosive. Christian Kirk is one of those guys who's always, like, reliable for a nice gain of, like, eight yards. Go get it, like, third down. So everything about the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence just screams successful, great for a long time to come. And now it's time to talk about a guy who is the exact opposite of everything I just said. Zach Wilson is a bum. Capital B, bum, trash. He had a pretty good game this Sunday, but that might be the greatest game of his career against Kansas City on primetime, which, admittedly, is probably the best place to have the game of your career. But we know what Zach Wilson is. He's not that guy. He's just going to come out next week. I don't know who the Jets are playing, but he's going to look antsy. He's going to make quick decisions. He's going to try and run around in the pocket, and then eventually nothing's going to be there, and he's just going to take another sack. It's the same thing every time with him, man. He's never going to, like, change. It's been three years. He finally learned under Aaron Rodgers this offseason, and people thought he'd get better. He hasn't. The offense looks stagnant. He just can't do it. The only game they've won is where the defense forced four turnovers, and that's not going to happen every week, man. So, Zach Wilson, a bust, one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL right now, if not the worst quarterback in the NFL. Now it's time to move on to two guys whose situations are a little more complicated. With Trevor Lawrence, it was all good, all great. With Zach Wilson, it's all bad, not great. But with Justin Fields and Mack Jones, there's different things on each side, and we'll start with Fields. But his issue is that he can't throw the football reliably. We know this. He has, like, with the exception of this week against an awful defense where he put up three touchdowns and then they ended up choking the game away anyway, which was just the most Chicago Bears thing they could do, which we'll get into later with my fantasy football, which was awesome for me because those touchdowns and those points were insane. But looking long term, I don't believe Justin Fields can be a guy because he's just not consistent enough to work a real NFL offense against NFL defenses. Justin Fields is one of those Ohio State guys, you know, those guys almost never pan out with the exception of Stroud thus far, who's just looking completely different than any of them have ever looked. But Fields is not ready for the NFL, and it's too late for him to, like, try and get ready. We know what he's going to be. He's going to be a guy who wants to run the ball and have not the highest ceiling passing, so it's really easy to game plan against him. And if Chicago ends up with the first or second pick, they've really got to make a look into changing quarterbacks because it's just been way too long and this has not worked out. I looked it up. It's almost been an entire full 365 days since the Chicago Bears have won a football game. They were the worst team in football last year. They have the worst record in football this year. You can't keep a quarterback like that. It's bad for the locker room, for the coaching staff, for the win column. It's all bad with Justin Fields in that area. And there are some good to him. He's dynamic, and he hasn't been in a great situation. His offensive line has always been pretty poor his entire time there. With the exception of D.J. Moore this year, he's never had great wide receivers, and you've kind of been able to cut that slack a little bit. But you also have to get to the point where this is year three, and we're not seeing anything we haven't seen before. D.J. Moore has not really created the explosive plays and have been as friendly as they've hoped for Justin Fields in helping him boost his career and helping him be a guy that they want him to be. But it just hasn't happened, and it's not going to happen, and I still stick with the fact that I think they should bench him. This last guy, this last segment, is very near and dear to my heart, and it's probably the most confusing this week than it's ever been. If I had made this recording last week, I would have had a bunch of different things to say about Mac Jones. But man, they got smacked by the Dallas Cowboys, and Mac Jones played maybe the worst game of his entire career. That second quarter he played was the worst quarter of football I've seen from a New England Patriot in my entire life, dude. He looked awful. He had three turnovers. Two of them were returned for touchdowns. It was the worst offense I've ever seen, and it got people questioning, is Mac Jones the guy? Everyone was pretty much concessions like, yes, he's the guy, but you have to get good talent around him as well. But after this week, it really got me questioning if Mac Jones can really be the guy to bring you to the Super Bowl and to win you championships, which is the ultimate end goal of every NFL team in any NFL season. Is Mac Jones going to be able to elevate an offense enough to where he can win? And I just don't think that's going to be happening. I love Mac Jones from the bottom of my heart. He is the best in my eyes, in my soul. I think he's so awesome, and he hasn't gotten the best shot. But as of right now, looking at it objectively, you just struggle to see the ceiling. You can see that he's just like, I'm going to cut out that ambulance going through the background there, so you're welcome for that. But getting back to Mac Jones, he's a guy that I like a lot, but you've got to wait and see the ceiling. If he was in San Francisco, he would probably have a Super Bowl by now. But if you have to be in the greatest position possible to win a Super Bowl, I just don't know if you can be a top quarterback in the NFL. But moving on from that to more fantasy football talk, I want to say I was pretty right about most of the guys that I talked about last week. Justin Fields looked amazing. He had 30-plus points. The Bears running backs both feasted. At least Khalil Herbert did. Roshan Johnson was a little less effective, but Khalil Herbert looked really nice. And the Cowboys weapons, they didn't have the greatest day. They, of course, had some problems with Christian Gonzalez went out for the Patriots, so they didn't really have a guy to hold him down. But even then, they weren't dynamic, explosive, wide receiver ones on the day. The only guy that I really kind of missed on was Quentin Johnston. Like, and I just don't get it. Why aren't they using him? He was a first-round pick. Why is Jalen Guyton getting these snaps over him? Is he just bad? So was it a bad drafting choice? Or, like, why is it a weird personnel choice and you're just choosing not to have him out there? But anyways, it's time for this week's guys, the starts and sits. I have a lot of running backs that I have some strong opinions on. I have two sits and two starts. My two sits are Miles Sanders and Ramondre Stevenson. And I talked about Miles Sanders' reasoning earlier in the podcast. They can't run block for him. It's hard for him to get going, and when you get behind and lose and are losing by so many points that you have to keep throwing the ball, the running back isn't going to get a lot of that volume, which is happening in Carolina every week. So he's not a viable option. And then also, Ramondre Stevenson, he's getting outclassed by Ezekiel Elliott. Ezekiel Elliott is the best Patriots running back right now, and that is due to poor offensive line play and them throwing the ball more than any team in the NFL right now, I think. But you've just got to see that he isn't playing good football right now. He's kind of fallen off since last year, and his touches are being taken away by Ezekiel Elliott. However, I have two guys that if you don't want to start Miles Sanders and Ramondre Stevenson, consider looking into David Montgomery and Damian Pierce, who are going to have huge weeks this year, strictly off of workload. David Montgomery got 32 carries, I'm pretty sure, or 32 touches at least. He's looking phenomenal. He is a guy that I had in my notes as a guy I wanted to get in every single draft. I got him in two out of my three, and man, it's paying off. He had so many fantasy points last week, dude. It was insane. But the worst part was I had him on my bench for one of those games, so I couldn't even reap all that reward. But he's just awesome. Jameer Gibbs is a non-factor. So, like, start David Montgomery. No matter what, he's going to get the touches. He's going to get the volume. He should be an automatic lineup lock every week. And Damian Pierce is kind of the same thing, but, like, a little less. The Texans are throwing the ball with efficiency, but that also means more scoring opportunities, more drives for Damian Pierce to get the ball and get in the end zone, and that happened last week. And he even has some design screenplays. The Texans like to get the ball in his hands in the receiving game as well. So those are two guys who you should be starting every time. And the last guy I want to bring up before we end this, because this has kind of gotten to be a little bit of a longer episode than I would have liked. We've now hit the 30-minute mark. Calvin Ridley, slowly on the decline. He only caught three passes last week. Not even two passes. I'm looking at that wrong. He only caught two passes for 30 yards. So if he's not getting the receptions and the targets he should be, he's getting outpaced by Christian Kirk last week, which isn't good. So just be very wary of Calvin Ridley. He's definitely a guy you should start because he's probably your wide receiver too or your flex, but don't be hesitant to take him out of your starting lineup if things don't go your way and he doesn't get the targets and catches he needs to be productive.
