Lev Shestov
Lev Isaakovich Shestov, originally named Yeguda Leib Shvartsman, was a Russian philosopher known for his "philosophy of despair". He was an existentialist who was born in Kyiv (Russian Empire) in 1866. Due to the aftermath of the October Revolution, he emigrated to France in 1921. He spent the remainder of his life in Paris until his passing on November 19, 1938.
