Leonard Cox

Leonard Cox (sometimes spelled Coxe) was a renowned English humanist who wrote the first book on rhetoric in English. He was highly regarded as a scholar and received support from patrons in Poland. Cox was also a close friend of Erasmus and Melanchthon. He was adept at grammar, rhetoric, poetry, and preaching, and was proficient in both modern and classical languages, as noted by his contemporaries.
