Nothing to say, yet
The main ideas discussed in the transcription are: - The increasing popularity of Tesla cars and how they are becoming more common and affordable. - The host's personal opinion on Tesla cars and their aesthetic appeal. - The suspension of basketball player John Morant for 25 games and the discussion of his social media presence and portrayal of a "thug" image. - The discussion of rappers and their portrayal of a certain lifestyle in their music and how it may not necessarily reflect their actual experiences. - The appeal of appearing "hood" or from the streets, especially for successful individuals who come from low-income backgrounds. All right You are now to get you beat most ignorant podcast in America doesn't be an appointment Why I'm gonna be okay and sitting here with my main man Larry P. What you got to say my man back back again? Yeah, so um two weeks in a row two weeks in a row Tesla's Tesla's are now What I considered the new version of Altima's you know You know Altima's were uh Everybody else they all look the same from 1999 to 2017 Yeah Interesting I don't see that many Tesla's like that, you know, they got Tesla's that cost like 30,000 now No, I see Tesla's but I don't see them like I wouldn't describe them as like Oh, you got the Tesla? Like it ain't that no more, but it's more like I don't see a lot of people just driving Tesla's They out there Like what type of person drives a Tesla? Everybody at this point. No, but I mean what type of person like is that is it a is it a Working professional is it uh, everybody is a mom of two. No, there's a new Altima's everybody Now there used to be a time and day Where they're the the type of Tesla or a Tesla came with a type of level status level Now it's just a new Altima's. Everybody and their mom got a Tesla. I could have a Tesla. I mean that's what I'm saying. Anybody can have a Tesla. What's up? Here's my issue with the Tesla. Anybody does have a Tesla. Here's the issue with the Tesla. I remember I was in um I was in like kindergarten And they would take me to draw a card Alright You wouldn't draw no Tesla. Tesla like one of them block cars you just like a child would draw. It ain't no block car. Come on, that don't look that bad. You think a Tesla is a sexy car? I think it's grown on me. I don't think anybody will pull up in a Tesla and somebody be like ooh, who's that? That's not a ooh, who's that car. Yeah, it is. Nothing Tesla's I see. Yeah, I'm some haters. I'm not a hater. You want a Tesla? Not really. Okay. I'll drive one. You'll drive one but you don't want one? Actually, I kinda do. So you want a Tesla? Kinda. You trading what you got right now for a Tesla? Yeah. Why not? I mean everybody got a little tail on life, man. It's low maintenance. Um, speaking of low maintenance, what are we talking about this week? Um, we talking about, well you know basketball season is back in order. Well, it's only a matter of time before, you know, the infamous John Morant shows himself. Well, it's gonna be a while. Oh, he's still suspended? John Morant is suspended for 25 games. Goodness gracious. So he's suspended for the first 25 games of the season. And um, and the reason why this is relevant to our show is we really want to talk about um, you know what you be putting on social media and you being out here whipping away that you're not about. Yeah, um if anybody watches the show Power Mm-hmm um, I'm a big fan of Tariq J. Patrick. But John think he is, John wants to be Tariq J. Patrick. The only difference between Tariq J. Patrick well, uh uh uh You worried about spoiling it? No, no, no, no, no. I'm just trying to say I was going to say the only difference is that you know what I'm saying Tariq grew up in the lifestyle where his daddy was living that life which John grew up in the lifestyle where his daddy was living that life The only difference between Tariq and John is at any time in these situations where we do have these people that like living that life that they that he did have to live that life for a little while He making millions as a basketball player Here's the issue with John Here's the issue with John specifically before we get into the bigger picture of it all John Morant was a very good basketball player was well sorry sorry my point was correct John Morant is and was a very good basketball player that got to go to college on a basketball scholarship because he was a good basketball player that people did not anticipate being someone who was going to go and make millions of dollars What ended up happening is he was a lot better at basketball than people thought he was going to be got to college and they were just like wait he can go to the NBA end up being the number two pick in the draft and now after living a very regular normal probably suburban middle class life now you are a millionaire and you don't know what to do with yourself DeMarcus Sumpter Sumpter South Carolina He bought like a Taurus the gun he was using was a Taurus but he didn't live a life where he was He can afford an expensive gun though Yeah because he's a millionaire but he didn't buy an expensive gun I'll give you a good example Tupac Tupac started discussing all of this gangsta thug stuff and trying to live a thug life after he had gotten to the point where people rap about hey I used to be a thug but now I'm a rapper he did it in reverse John tried to do it in reverse like hey I lived a nice good regular life and now that I'm a millionaire I'm going to tell y'all I'm a thug It don't make sense At what point do rappers stop rapping about that life when they no longer feel the need to live that life I'll give you a great example Jay Z grew up in the struggle sold drugs started rapping about it and then once he no longer was required to sell drugs and live in the struggle started rapping about things like art it's very different it's the reverse I actually grew up in the struggle therefore I don't feel the need to talk about it Jay Z's an anomaly he got people like Yo Gotti he probably he ain't done that in a long time he still be out there rapping like he a flip a brick Young Gigi does the same thing Young Gigi's something else T.I. does the same thing and T.I.'s raising kids so like all of these people who are rapping about the struggle it's struggle that they actually lived but they aren't in that struggle anymore versus John Morant who's never been in that struggle acting like he was in that struggle him and Tuck Tarantino Tuck Tarantino out here rapping like he's ever lived in Tuck Tarantino daddy came on TV to tell y'all hey my son lives in a gated community and he's out here rapping about flipping bricks and shooting guns this man does not flip no bricks or shot no gun this entire time well you know the issue is when you give somebody laughter laughter laughter when you grow up in that lifestyle you usually want to do everything you can to get out of that lifestyle but as you're growing up and you don't have that lifestyle that lifestyle glamorizes you gotta think about it rap lyrics shows like power TV movies football players that was homeless you know everybody has that lifestyle the hood looks fun to people who not in the hood you're like dang I want to be a rapper but you can't be a rapper without living that lifestyle I think that's an older model I think there was a point where nobody was trying to hear that nobody was trying to hear Will Smith rap about partying in Miami getting G with it in order to not be about that lifestyle you gotta be like J. Cole or somebody which you have to know I actually am good at rapping a lot of these people don't know they good at rapping well that's another point when you look at rap in the 80's rappers were just rapping about being the best rapper think about Run DMC they never rapped about the streets they just rapped about rapping and then you get to a point where rappers were starting to rap about stuff that was happening in real life and then that took a mind of it's own and then rappers started rapping about stuff that wasn't actually happening the cash money millionaires I don't know if y'all know this were not millionaires when they was rapping about having millions of dollars but they didn't really rap about having millions they just rapped about the possibility of it they was rapping about all the money they had and how much money they was spending but they wasn't millionaires they called themselves the cash money millionaires and they could call themselves the money team and they could only have a couple of dollars that's true you can maybe you a millionaire subjective in my mind I got millions you can call it what you want to call it but to me millions they never came out on any song that said we got millions and I got about 330 million in my bank account that's not what he said but he made us think it no y'all thought it on your own they made us think it with the rental cars the gold teeth they made us think it with the gold chain that's your perception and that is what everybody in the world does but that's me on the outside looking in that's me on the outside looking in all I gotta do is put a name on me I gotta do this well that's the value of being brand clothing like if I think Versace is expensive then I wear Versace to make you think I got money or or you get Versace for free oh yeah but they don't talk about that and then put it on but they don't talk about that but that's where you end up with situations like a John Moran John Moran is thinking oh the only way I'm going to be respected in the hood is to look like I'm from the hood well he already got dreads he got dreads and he black and he play basketball like he don't really gotta keep going hard in the net I mean I mean really if you want to look like you're from the hood you were succeeding well my boy but again why do you feel I guess my biggest question is why is that so appealing to specifically young black men to look like or give off the image of I'm hood I'm from the hood this is the life I'm living when you're not really that especially when you're successful especially when you got money you want to know why because the more successful when you're from the hood you can tell people that's from the hood I ain't gonna try him you see a dude walk down the street you see a dude walking with 5 guys you try to order some food this dude walking with 5 guys he orders some food if I did I bet y'all would be like yeah don't mess with him let him order first now let's say that same hood guy made it to the NBA and he's still hood somebody may be like yeah I might try him and that's the problem the problem is not the fact of not being hood the problem is being successful and then not being hood and still thinking like dang I might look like that they can try me cause they'll try me even if I was from the hood but I know I ain't from the hood I know I ain't hood so now they gonna still try me so now I gotta give off the perception that I am hood so when they try me I'll be like when we come back I want us to talk about what this hood really looks like it's the under phone rush
