The management of renal insufficiency was also covered. The management of patients with chronic lung diseases was included in the course discussion. The most common chronic lung diseases treated by internists include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. Patients with joint disorders and related diseases are handled by internal medicine specialists working in the field of rheumatology. Osteoarthritis management was discussed, and the management of the most common autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis, was discussed. There was an overview of the most common autoimmune diseases and a general overview of how they are treated. Patients with liver diseases are also treated by internists.
