"Auf zwei Planeten" by Kurd Laßwitz is a science fiction novel that follows the journey of scientists Saltner, Grunthe, and Thorm as they set out to explore the North Pole in a balloon. The two scientists are warmly welcomed into the Martian station and learn about the Nume's superior technology and human-like characteristics. In an effort to establish better understanding, Saltner and Grunthe are taken to Mars. Meanwhile, a Nume airship encounters an English warship and is attacked, leading the Nume to decide to conquer Earth and its primitive inhabitants.
