A white Toyota Land Cruiser collided with a B-Double truck on the Wimmera Highway. The truck driver was unharmed, but the Land Cruiser driver, a 48-year-old man, suffered critical injuries and had to be freed from the vehicle by emergency workers. He was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital. Witnesses are asked to contact Crime Stoppers. A white Toyota Land Cruiser travelling on the Wimmera Highway just before 5.30am veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a B-Double trunk travelling in the opposite direction. Victoria Police leading senior constable Don Jones says the driver of the trunk is a 43-year-old man from New South Wales who wasn't injured in the accident. You can see the Land Cruiser is in the middle of the road with substantial damage. The B-Double which was travelling west on the Wimmera Highway and the vehicle have collided. It appears at this stage that the Land Cruiser may have been on the incorrect side of the road. The driver of the four-wheel driver is a 48-year-old dandigal man who was trapped in the vehicle and has suffered extensive critical injuries. Ambulance Victoria paramedic Andrew Roffey says it took emergency workers almost an hour to free the man from the vehicle. The head injury, chest, abdomen and pelvis injuries and he was trapped by his legs so it took us quite some time to free him. He was placed into an induced camera and airlifted via HEM3, the emergency medical helicopter to Royal Melbourne Hospital. Anyone who saw the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
