The majority of Asian immigrants come from Eastern Asia, followed by South Central Asia, Southeastern Asia, and Western Asia. The top countries of origin for Asian immigrants are China, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Current demographics. By 2050, it is estimated that Asian Americans will reach 9.3 percent of the U.S. population. And by 2065, it is projected that Asians will be the largest percent of U.S. immigrants annually. Now we'll look at Asian immigrants by region. 31 percent of Asian immigrants come from Eastern Asia, 16.8 percent from China, 8.5 percent from North and South Korea, 2.9 percent from Taiwan, and 2.6 percent from Japan. 27.7 percent come from South Central Asia, specifically 17.3 percent from India, 2.9 percent from Iran, 2.9 percent from Pakistan, 1.6 percent from Bangladesh, and 0.9 percent from Nepal. 32.6 percent come from Southeastern Asia, with 15.1 percent from the Philippines, 10.1 percent from Vietnam, 2 percent from Thailand, 1.5 percent from Laos, 1.3 percent from Cambodia, and 1 percent from Myanmar. And lastly, 8.3 percent of Asian immigrants come from Western Asia, including 1.7 percent from Iraq, 1 percent from Israel, and 0.9 percent from Lebanon.
