Dating apps have become popular, but there is controversy surrounding them, especially when it comes to sex hunting. Some people use these apps solely for finding sex partners, which has affected the reputation of the apps. People may prefer searching for sex online because it offers more options and is free. Online dating allows individuals to express themselves more freely, including their sexual desires. However, the consequences of sex hunting on dating apps can be disappointing, as it attracts sex addicts and hinders the search for long-term relationships. Additionally, there are health risks involved, such as STDs, when engaging in casual sex with unknown partners. It is important for app users to be sexually educated and prioritize their health. Regular testing and vaccination can help prevent sexually transmitted infections. Using condoms correctly is also crucial. Welcome everyone to Have a Sip. I'm Hai. On today's show, we will be talking to three university students about dating apps. Let's find out their take on this popular yet controversial topic, sex hunting on dating apps. Before that, I would like to introduce our sponsor. This Christmas, Galaxy Cinema is having a special promotion for lovely couples in their Tinder system. Go grab your lover, have a great time at cinema, and save some money this Christmas. Welcome back. You're listening to Have a Sip. Ladies, please introduce yourself to the listeners. Hi, I'm Hung. I would not say I'm a pro online dater, but it's the truth. Hey guys, my name is Ngoc. I have tried a dating app, but not really into it. I'm Nghi. I have tried online dating, and I'm totally in love with them. You know what? Online dating has been so popular these days, to the point that Tinder is stated by research in 2017 to have an impact on adults' romantic and sexual lives, but in a somewhat unsatisfactory way. Nghi, do you happen to know any updates out of them? Well, the most controversial thing about dating apps is obviously sex hunting, with 25% participants in a survey in 2017 told they only look for sex on dating apps. To outsiders, dating apps are heaven for hooking up. Do you think so, Ngoc? Personally, I think that looking for sex partners isn't a bad thing, but when people bring it on such popular dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, I feel like it just worsens the reputation of the app. Because originally, those apps replaced traditional matchmakers and connected people without any network. They can even lead people inside into new perspectives. I wonder how their reputation has changed drastically like this. So why do dating apps, which people use for dating, obviously, have turned into a tool for sex seeking? I think that those sex seekers see the potential of finding sex in the virtual world more than in reality. Like, they can always search for their perfect partner anywhere and anytime. Not to mention, on those apps, the sky's the limit. It is a free space, basically, and it costs no money. For an app that provides them their target, there's no more perfect option than this. I totally agree with you. Besides, according to an article in 2014, individuals tend to express themselves more freely online. And this also applies to online dating. Since sexual pursuers may be afraid to show their desire in face-to-face settings, dating apps aid them in expressing their innermost cravings. That's why there are numerous sex seekers on these platforms. So what are the consequences? How does sex hunting on dating apps affect the users? Disappointment. According to an article in 2018, sex hunters on dating apps are mostly sex addicts. They seem to dominate online dating and always look for, you know, friendly benefits, one-night stands, no-stream attacks. Hence, dating platforms gradually lose their initial purpose of finding potential long-term relationships and instead becoming an intermediary for sex hunters. I see. The sex addicts will try every way possible to find their sexual partners, like creating fake profiles or catfishing. Yeah, I think so. In fact, if people do use dating apps for sex, it's not safe either. People can have STDs and you don't even know. Sometimes the users get lured by their physical appearance and ignore the problems that may exist inside them. And that can cause them a lot of health issues. Exactly. What you just said has proven the point that being sexually educated is extremely important. Not only that does it protect us from dangerous illnesses, but it also helps us make more healthy decisions about sex. So that's why I really hope that these apps users are all well-educated for the sake of their health and others' people's health. What's more, online sex pursuers tend to change their sexual partners frequently and they don't give a talk about regular sexual health check-ups until symptoms show up. That's why Planned Parenthood Federation of America encourages people to take regular testing of STDs if they are sexually active. Vaccination is a crucial method of preventing sexually transmitted infections like hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and HPV. In addition to protecting both partners from STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV, condoms are a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy when used correctly and consistently. Although most people don't give it much thought, everyone should make it a must before having sex. Alright, we had a friendly and thought-provoking conversation. Thanks listeners for joining us.
