The speaker reflects on their decision to retire from basketball, expressing peace with their choice. They discuss how the business side of the sport affected their love for the game and the mundane aspects of practices and road trips. Despite this, they still have a passion for basketball and share their personal journey, from growing up in a tough neighborhood to finding their love for the sport. They talk about the importance of faith and their mission to please God. They believe that their story is a part of God's plan and they are grateful to be a part of it. Full transparency, when I hung up my sneakers, there wasn't any ounce of emotion that I could have used to say to myself that I regret it or that I failed. I truly made peace with my decision. I was tired of how strong the business of basketball had such profound influence on the love I had for the game. It had great aspects to it, but regarding the heart, there was pure division. Practices were mundane, having to leave your family for road trips became mundane. Quite frankly, spending more time with teammates, day in and day out, was all the same. I hope you can appreciate my tone, because I still love the game. However, my sister reminded me that I'm not divorced from it, it just looks different. Point Guard, a personal diary. We are all born innately grasping for air. Reaching for the invisible we know is real and right there. No different than believing in what has been conceptualized in the mind, imaginative thoughts giving birth to the inner self, a robust reason for a quest to attain fulfillment in life. You see, I'm just a kid from Jane Street, here to share my story, aware of my environment where they shoot bullets or bleed, a community trying to survive economically, households raised by queens, apparently. I'm so glad I made it out this scene, but let me go further, just slightly. A basketball was placed in my hands, without knowing that my heart would discover love and explode into passion, a law of attraction. I tightly gripped my dream to safeguard, obtaining motivation to reach higher than what my eye beheld, guaranteeing this dream was all I needed to keep me focused on the road to achievement, not knowing really how that would pan out, but God, knowing all things and being who he is would allow me to realize it along the journey. From top of the hill, Staff Ave, Elementary. To driftwood aves, no mesh on rims, only concrete. To putting banners up in the legendary Lesko Eastern, you see it, a tradition built on winning, executed through the pillars of talent and family, where sacrifice form reality, I knew through hard work and tenacity, I was on the right path to succeed. The dream was bigger than me, 5'10 point guard cooking up like curry, Asia, Africa, North America, basketball, you did that for me, incredible. So I took another dribble, to a place that was foreign, called faith to faith, now a Christian with a new profession, only to carry out God's mission, I hope I please him. I accepted the work of Jesus, this is my beloved son, hear ye him, been given a reason for believing that God desires to use me as an instrument for his glory, for you Lord are the real PG, convinced it's never been mine, for this is your story, with my name written in the book of life, ever so timely.
