In this episode of Botched or Re-Watch, the host, Kingsley Rowe, reviews two highly anticipated movies: Barbie and Oppenheimer. Barbie is about Barbie's journey to the real world and her fight against a male-dominated society. The movie is praised for its casting and feminist message. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, focuses on the creation of the atomic bombs during World War II and the life of Robert J. Oppenheimer. The movie is commended for its stellar acting and intense scenes. While both movies are well-casted, Barbie is more re-watchable due to its simplicity and lighter plot. In conclusion, Barbie is considered better by the host, but both movies are recommended for re-watching. Hello, movie lovers! Welcome to another episode of Botched or Re-Watch with your host, Kingsley Rowe. In summer 2023, the internet exploded when they found out that two highly anticipated movies were coming out on the same day, Barbie and Oppenheimer. This rivalry sparked the question, which one is better? Join me as I deep dive into each movie and give my honest review and rating. In today's episode, I will be breaking apart the pros and cons of each movie and at the end, I will be revealing which one I prefer. This episode is your chance to find out if Barbie and Oppenheimer were botched or if they will make you want to re-watch. So starting with Barbie, the overall summary of the plot is stereotypical Barbie starts becoming depressed and is sent to the real world to solve her problems and is followed by Ken. But Barbie soon finds out that the real world is ruled completely by men and is not a happy and fun place like Barbieland is. But Ken gets ecstatic after finding this out and returns to Barbieland. After discovering this, she decides to return to Barbieland only to find it completely taken over by the Kens. At the end of the movie, the Barbies take back Barbieland using female empowerment and stereotypical Barbie decides to return to the real world. Stereotypical Barbie is played by Margot Robbie who is known for many other movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street and The Suicide Squad. And Ken is played by Ryan Gosling who has starred in very successful movies such as The Notebook and La La Land. In my opinion, I think that the casting could not have been better. Margot Robbie looks exactly like Barbie and really acted how I imagined Barbie would be in real life. And Ryan Gosling's energy fits the vibe of Ken perfectly. I thought the movie was really cute and fun and the overall message of feminism and empowerment was really interesting. I was also very funny which I honestly did not expect. I actually really enjoyed this movie. I even saw it twice in theaters and I'll probably watch it again in the future. Now moving on to Oppenheimer, this movie is extremely different from Barbie. It takes place during World War II and is about the creation of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And it is also about the life of Robert J. Oppenheimer. It stars Cillian Murphy who plays Oppenheimer and Florence Pugh who plays Jean Tatlock who is Oppenheimer's lover. You can also see very big named actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, and even Josh Peck. The acting was honestly impeccable. The emotion that Cillian Murphy gave while playing Oppenheimer had me super interested in the movie. It had very tense scenes that had me on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. So much I even started sweating a little. This movie was very long. Over three hours long. Though I'm not the biggest fan of movies that are very long, it held my attention very well. I did actually enjoy this movie a lot. But is it better than Barbie? Well that's to be determined. So overall the movies were very well casted and both had incredible acting. Obviously the two are vastly different and if you are a girl or someone who enjoys very feminine things, you will enjoy Barbie. But if you are a history buff, you will enjoy Oppenheimer. Although I would rate the Barbie movie a 9 out of 10, and Oppenheimer an 8 out of 10. Based on re-watchability, I would most definitely re-watch Barbie a lot more. Just because it's simple and isn't very long and has a light, hard plot. Based on re-watchability, I would most definitely watch Barbie more because it has a simple plot and is very lightweight and isn't very long. I would re-watch Barbie and I would re-watch Oppenheimer as well, but probably not as much because of the length and the heavy plot of the movie. So to answer your anticipating question, which one's better? I would definitely say Barbie. Though Oppenheimer was great and filled with amazing acting, Barbie was just grasping my attention stronger. But both Barbie and Oppenheimer are a re-watch in my book. This concludes this episode of Botched or Re-watched. Tune in next time for the next movie review.
