Vincent wants to improve his ball protection skills in basketball. He started playing in early 2021 and took inspiration from players like Damian Lillard and Steph Curry. Off the court, Vincent likes to socialize and make everyone feel included. He is open-minded about starting the season with a new coach and wants to improve on defense. Vincent joined the team after being invited to a tryout. Hello, so today I'm here with Vincent, what's up everybody, and we've got some questions for you. So, I hear you play basketball, is there any specific skills you want to improve on this year? Well, I was looking at my footage from last year and I saw that I really need to work on my protecting the ball skills because I saw last year that I was getting the ball stolen from me very easily and it was very preventable, so I've been kind of working on like protecting the ball and like using my dribbles to make sure no one could steal it from me. And yeah, that's just basically just protecting the ball. Yeah, for sure, improving the handles, yeah, good, good. So, in one sentence, how would you describe yourself? Just a regular guy at school, yeah, nothing more, nothing less, just go to school, go home, getting your stuff done, living a normal life, very nice, okay, so I have to ask, what sparked your interest in the sport of basketball? So, I played, my friends started playing with me in like early 2020, 2021, I was kind of a fan before then, but I really started like playing it around that time and then I started watching the NBA and I started taking inspiration from players like Damien Lillard, he's my favorite player for example, I took a lot of inspiration from him, I took a lot of inspiration from Steph Curry because I, you know, I based my role around shooting. So, well, that's good, it's impressive. What would you say your greatest strength is in or off the court? I like to socialize with people, you know, I want to make sure everyone feels included, I like to be friends with as much people as I can, you know, make sure everyone's like not worried about being at school because I was once that person, you know, when I first came to the school, going through these halls and seeing all these people was kind of scary but now I want to be that person that's just like, you know, makes people feel safe. That's respectable, that's good, I approve. Okay, so, how do you feel starting off the season with a new coach? It's going to take some more to get used to new coaching drills and all the plays, but, you know, it's a fresh step and maybe I can like, you know, learn some more stuff that I wouldn't have learned with my previous coach and we have an awesome group of guys and teammates that will help me through it. So, you're coming in with an open mind, ready to see him go? Yeah. Good, good. So, coming off that heartbreaking defeat last year, what are any new strategies or mindsets that you've changed? Why'd you have to bring that up? I wanted to forget about that, man. Well, what I'm going to change, what we were thinking about changing last year, well, we weren't playing, we weren't playing as aggressive on defense as we should have, you know, we were letting easy layups get by, easy shots, I think our guys are just tired, so I think we got to work more on our conditioning and our defense skills this year because we were letting easy shots get by and it was, you know, it wasn't, we didn't lose by a lot, but it still felt like we did because we could have prevented it. Putting in the work, not letting that break get to you. Yeah. Good job. So, to end off our interview today, what drew you to play for the team that you play for? Well, someone asked me to come to a tryout because they were seeing me play and I was like, you know, I have nothing better to do, so I went and they were impressed with me and I was surprised because there were so many other talented people there and I don't know why they chose me, but that just led to me being on the team. Well, good, good. So, you got some heart in it. Okay, well, that wraps up our interview with Vincent today. Bye, everyone. Bye-bye.
