Leeds United boss Daniel Farke praises his team's win over Stoke City. Katie Boulter begins her Indian Wells campaign tonight. James Bentley serves a one-match ban for Leeds Rhinos. Good afternoon, it's three o'clock, I'm Philippa Platt and this is Leeds Hacks Radio News. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has described the budget as the late, desperate act of party that has already failed. He has also confirmed the rumours of the reduction in the two pence national insurance saving the average tax worker £450. Jeremy Hunt also commented on a change of loan policy for people already on Universal Credit who still need extra help. A nurse says that more treatment options are available for eating disorders than ever before. Millions of people suffer daily, so seeking and receiving the right support is essential for a full recovery. NHS nurse Beth Gripton spoke of the support available throughout the area of Leeds and West Yorkshire. A protest is taking place outside of Leeds bus station this afternoon. This is as a result of high energy bills and the effects it's having on the public. Steve Johnson says that the people are dying. We're campaigning for energy for all. Now what we mean by that is that it's the fifth richest country in the world and yet 45 people die each day in the UK because of failure to heat their homes. People in a small village in Leeds are sharing their worries about the health impacts of a proposed sand and gravel quarry. The people of Methley have raised their concerns about the exposure to silica dust which could lead to the development of lung cancer. Emma and Tony Long have young children who attend the school near the proposed site and said their children's health should be a priority. The brown bin collection cycle is being pushed back by one collection to the first week of April. This comes following the budget overspent from the council this year. Councillor Barry Anderson has said that this is wrong. An exhibition creating hip hop over the last 50 years is on display in Leeds and has already had over 60,000 visitors. The display features the work of artists such as Nightmare on Wax and Skinny Man. It runs until March 24th at Leeds City Museum. Police say there's been over 270 shoplifting cases reported in Leeds in January. Multiple shops on the high streets have reported to be involved in the incidents. Alex Taylor from clothes store Hip on Vicar Lane says that shoplifters are becoming more baffled. A customer walks in, he's had his hood up, he doesn't even really show his face to any of the cameras so we were able to see him after the fact. Walks down back towards the door, grabs his head with a car hard shoulder and just runs out the shop. Now to James with the sport. In Formula One, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner could potentially face a second investigation from the FIA. Horner has recently been cleared from a previous investigation following complaints from a former female employee about inappropriate behaviour. But calls for a second investigation have arisen following leaked texts from the Red Bull boss's phone. Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has described his side's 1-0 win over Stoke City last night as their best win of 2024 so far. After a slow start to the season, Leeds now sit just two points off the automatic promotion spots with fans at Ellott Road taking a liking to Farke's football. I think he's done a brilliant job. I think he's done a fantastic job. From start of season to where we are now, nobody could have done a better job than him. Yeah, what was it like? 10 wins in the last 11? It's pretty good. British number one and recently crowned San Diego Open champion Katie Boulter kicks off her Indian Wells campaign tonight. She faces Italy's Camilla Giorgi at 9pm tonight on court three. And now time for some Leeds Rhinos squad news. As second row star James Bentley drops out the side to serve a one-match band. A band which has been upheld by the RSL council. Rhinos come up against Leeds Leopards on Friday in a clash which could take them towards the top of the table. That's all for the sport today. Now back to Pippa. Thanks James.
