Carl is excited to share his knowledge to help improve business and leadership skills. My name is Carl Coltrane. I am an English instructor specializing in business English. A native of the Silicon Valley, I later earned a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I then trained in adult learning, online learning, and then teaching English as a foreign language at the University of California. As a dual national citizen of Germany and the United States, I am also fluent in English, German, and Spanish. In the U.S., I have taught in corporate environments, adult education schools, and secondary schools for grades 9 through 12 in the state of California. As a young U.S. Army intelligence officer, I had the opportunity to enhance my innate interest in other countries and cultures. After then working for companies in Austin, Texas, and New York City, I returned to Silicon Valley to work in sales and marketing for Xerox Corporation, Oracle, and Hewlett Packard. I eventually transitioned into leadership roles in sales and marketing in the emerging category of revenue operations for early-stage, high-technology startups, usually with less than 100 employees. Some of these included companies based in Europe. I contributed to the successful sales of several startups to larger organizations. At these companies, our focus was typically business-to-business in the disruptive high-tech categories of big data, machine learning, data science, high-performance computing, and autonomous vehicle navigation. After working in the last decade in high-tech environments specializing in disruptive technologies, I bring an intimate understanding of how business gets done in the U.S. in places like New York City and the high-tech hubs of Austin and the San Francisco Bay Area. With my breadth of knowledge and my experience as an instructor, I look forward to sharing insight that you can begin to use right away to improve your business and leadership ability.
