The speaker talks about the importance of keeping a weather journal to observe and understand different types of weather patterns. They mention that weather is unpredictable and can change rapidly. They provide examples of how weather patterns can vary based on the seasons and explain that keeping a weather journal can help us make predictions about future weather. The speaker encourages the listener to start their weather journal and keep an eye on the sky for observations. Look out the window. What is it doing outside? That's right. It's raining. So we can't go outside today. You couldn't go outside yesterday either since it was raining. I know this because I wrote it down in my weather journal. Do you keep a weather journal? Well, you can. All you have to do is look outside and write it down. There are all types of weather to look for. It could be sunny, rainy, stormy, snowy, windy, or cloudy. Weather is unpredictable. It can be sunny one minute and stormy the next, especially during this time of year. Weather often follows a pattern due to the season. For example, it could be stormy in the spring, sunny in the summer, windy in the fall, and snowy in the winter. If it's the middle of a season, like winter, we could have five days of snowy weather, which is a pattern. If the season is changing, there might not be a pattern. For example, if the season is changing from summer to fall, it could be sunny and hot for two days. Rainy, windy, and cooler for the next two days, and then windy, sunny, and warmer for the next three days. This is due to the seasons changing. Keeping a weather journal can allow us to observe the weather and see the patterns that are occurring for ourselves. Meteorologists study the weather every day and make predictions for future weather. You might not be a meteorologist, but you can give a weather report by looking out the window. You can also make predictions for the future weather through your observations from your weather journal. So keep your eye on the sky and start your journal today!
