Raymond and the speaker provide updates on their training progress and personal lives. Raymond recently got married and went on his honeymoon, which was enjoyable but went by quickly. They discuss the importance of listening to one's body and making choices that support progress. They also mention social occasions during the holiday season and the need to find a balance between enjoyment and maintaining fitness goals. They inform listeners that there will be a change in the check-in process due to Christmas and New Year's Day falling on Mondays. They encourage participants to reach out with any questions or concerns. They mention upcoming events, including a festive run and a monthly map out call in January. Overall, they emphasize the importance of staying focused and making the most of the remaining weeks before the holidays. Hello and welcome, guys, to the next episode of the private member's podcast within the progress project. It is an update with myself and Raymond. Raymond is on with us. How is it going, mate? All good, mate. Nice to have you here. Good. I am looking forward to this quick chat. It will not be a too long one to go through, guys. Just a few updates. We update in terms of where me and Raymond are training-wise and a few programme updates as we head into Christmas. Raymond, quite a lot has happened since we last had an update. It was just wedding, I think, that we did. Are you married now? Married and honeymoon done. Just like that. Blunking, you will miss it. So many folks said to me, just take it all and enjoy it, but it is the quickest day of your life and the honeymoon was not much better. It was three nights, four days in total. Very chilled, but just crazy, mate. What a week. Over before we know it, all that planning for two or three years and then that is it done. It has been very busy, but it was really good as well. I enjoyed it, mate. Yes, definitely. I think you were thinking that you were not going to know what to do with yourself, because there was a time when it was working shifts, working into the progress project, trying to plan for the wedding, moving house. Absolute madness was happening now. To just nothing. Week to benefit last week. Last week's training was unreal. There is a wee bug going around around. I know a few clients have been floored past you again. Obviously, your family are the same. A few of the girls on your side are saying things as well. I took that Sunday and Monday last week and then a wee bit into Tuesday, but session-wise, at the end of the week, it was so good. That is just going to be a wee insight of what is to come. I am going to try and repeat that constantly now, because that was the best week of training I have had in a long, long time. I doubt that it has been so busy, but I am just looking forward to having a wee bit of life back. Just normal work, nothing ridiculous with the house and stuff. The house is in a good position now, so training is going really well. We are getting miles in the legs, which we were looking forward to for a long time, and we are starting to get more focused on High Rocks. It is going well, so that is good. Definitely. It has been good to see you skip back into that. Last week, we had a bit of a testing week. We have got a couple of sessions in. With regard to High Rocks, our training is going to take a much more focus towards High Rocks. I think there are only 10 weeks to go now. It is coming around fast. My update is nothing as exciting as that, in terms of getting married and stuff, but I have just been ticking the boxes. I set a goal that my project in Black Ips was to run 40k a week every week. I have done that so far, at least. I even had to get out on Sunday morning. I had that day out on Saturday with some of my friends. I still had 3k to run to tick off the 40k, so I just had to wake up. It was pouring rain, so I had to wear a knee dress before everybody wakes up. I got my 3k in, so I got that 40k done. Nothing much in terms of how things are going with me. I have just been ticking the boxes, training well and feeling good. During this period, a lot of us are juggling more social occasions. As Jamie said, he just had a wedding and a honeymoon, and a lot of people have just said that they had a meeting on Saturday. A lot of things happened. We also had big Christmas nights and awards last week, which was an amazing night. It was really good. The venue that we had, the food and a few drinks, it was just a really good night. Thanks to everybody who could come to that. We have already got big plans to make it even bigger and better next year. I am just talking about that and more social occasions. Raymond, for example, had a busy week the week before, a wedding and a honeymoon. He decided that he was coming to the night out, but he just stayed sober. That is an example of picking and choosing and making sure that you are listening to your body and doing it that way. That is the best way that you are going to guarantee progress throughout. That is the advice that we give all our clients. At this time of year, it is just a juggling act. You just need to hang on and think. If we can maintain through the Christmas period, that is the best thing that we can do. You are not going to make massive progress. It is impossible. I want to enjoy time with friends and family. On the wedding day, I drank a lot. The honeymoon was not too bad. Days later, we had the night out. In my head, I thought that I could go and drink. I could just say, well, I will start back on Monday. The more you do that, you just put yourself on the back foot. I had a great time. I probably would not have enjoyed it any more if I had had four or five beers. That was my thought process. There were nibbles there. I had a bit of food, but nothing crazy. I woke up on Sunday and got my workout done. As you said, it is just about picking and choosing. If you have three nights out in one week and you drink and eat rubbish on every single one of them, before you know it, you are three or four kilograms heavier and you are chasing your tail on Monday. It is just about picking and choosing and planning. Practice what you preach and all that. It was really good. I enjoyed that. Yes, definitely. To be fair, I have been really impressed with everybody throughout December. If you have had nights out, everyone has been getting back at it the day after. I am pretty sure that the day after the awards night, I saw Leon getting out a run and saw Christian Siobhan doing a conditioning session. It has been great to see everybody across the board. Although we have been busy, we have been messing this, we have been keeping us updated and we have been getting straight back on track, which is brilliant. It is just a case of continuing that. We are heading into the actual Christmas week. I did a podcast last week just talking about that. Yes, enjoy it, but we do not need to spend seven days doing nothing. We can still, in between times, get moving and get some workouts ticked off. Eat well. Try not to have celebrations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is just a case of enjoying it with your friends and family, and we will push through. I just want to add a point on the next couple of weeks. Obviously, check-in-wise, we normally go through the check-in. You guys fill out your check-in or drop us a message in the chat on a Sunday. We will then go through the check-ins in detail on a Monday and set us up for the week. However, next Monday is Christmas day. The following Monday is New Year's day. I am pretty sure that you guys do not want to hear from us. Similarly, we do not want to be going through check-ins on Christmas day. The best way around that over the next couple of weeks is to just message us at any point. All your programmes will be sorted for the next few weeks into the new year, so everything is sorted. Just message us at any point. We will get back to you and touch base throughout the couple of weeks. We probably will not do an official check-in process, where you need to fill out a form on a Sunday and go through on a Monday. If you do not want to fill out the form, do not worry about it. Just touch base with us throughout. If we are struggling with anything, let us know. If you still want to fill out the form on a Sunday, just keep that habit going. It is great to get that done. You can review it and stuff like that, but it will not be a formal Sunday and Monday check-in process over the next few weeks. It will be a bit more relaxed, but we will be there for support anyway. Everything will be set up and just messaged if you need to. If anybody has any questions on that, let us know. A couple of other things that I just wanted to point out. We had a great festive run cup on Saturday—5k on Saturday with Santa hats, which was brilliant, so cheers to everybody who came to that. We have another one planned on Tuesday 2 January, so if you are not back at work, just call that a cobweb duster. We are going to confirm the time and location. It will probably be at Sprout and East Kilbride again, because we normally meet there, but I will confirm all that over the next couple of days. If you want to get involved in that, that would be a good way to all meet up again and to blow off the cobwebs from the Christmas and New Year. We will get an invite out for that shortly. And then on the monthly map out call—obviously, we are not going to do a monthly map out call this month, because last Monday was Christmas Day, so we are not doing that. But what I think I am going to do is, rather than having a full alarm run for the next one, I am probably going to do one on Monday 8 January, just to really set us off. There will be two in January, one at the start and one at the end, but I will just replace the December one. I think that will be a good way to get together and regroup after the Christmas and New Year, and then set ourselves up for January. That will be on Monday 8 January, but again, I will have more info on that. I am going to release the pipeline this week, just chatting through all of this. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Do all of you have anything else that you wanted to add to the remit around Christmas period coming up and how things have been going? No, mate. We have touched on it loads. We are just doing what we can. See if we get a clear week this week. I struggle a lot with the check-ins I do on the day. Not many folk have got much on this week, because it is the week before Christmas. See if we just try and nail this week. It is the final, final wee push, and then we can draw Christmas, Boxing Day, and another wee push before New Year, and then we can draw the first and the second. It is just about holding on. This is the toughest bit of the year, probably, but listen to what you said, mate. Everyone is doing well, and that is the positives of building a community. If you wake up with a bit of a slow start to the day and you see four or five guys and girls absolutely smashing it, that is probably going to make you hit that session in the afternoon or evening if you are more likely to leave it. I am really delighted with the community aspect we have built, because I see this time of year when it is really hard. I think everyone is pushing each other on, calling all day without smashing a marathon before Christmas. It is unreal. Who is doing that now? Everyone is helping each other within, because it is a tough time of year. It is going well. Everyone is absolutely flying, and I cannot wait for the start of the new year. Definitely. That is what I was going to say. Shout out to Colin, who completed his first ever marathon yesterday in under four hours as well. You are right, mate. Not many other people are doing a marathon the week before. A marathon the week before Christmas? That is silly, but to see guys who have just come into the programme and seen that, like all our members, that is what they are doing. It is good, mate. Everyone is absolutely flying. It really bodes well for the new year. We have applied ourselves throughout December, and as you say, it is a really hard month to keep making progress health and fitness-wise, as it just is. As you said, there are so many social events that it is not possible to be saying, for example, that I am going to go out every Friday and Saturday and expect to make lots of progress. It is a case of what time you are doing it. To be fair, everybody has been making progress. Sometimes, if you have been maintaining one week because you have had a busy week, that is still making progress. A lot of guys are still losing weight, and it has been great to see. There was a week when I was there. I was alone. It was crazy. What was that week? There were five or less weigh-ins a day, and it was just a wee broad look. It was so good. We are still making progress, and it is really exciting to see what is still on. This is how December has been, and what it is going to be like as we head into the new year. I am really excited, and I would like to wish everybody—I will speak before this, but I hope that everybody has an amazing Christmas and new year. If you check your emails, you should get a Christmas card email from us if you have not checked it already. I hope that everyone has an amazing Christmas and new year. It has been brilliant working with everybody so far, and I am really looking forward to some big goals that everybody has got in 2024 after the year-end reviews that we went through. There are a lot of big goals getting set, which is what we like to see, so I am really excited for that. Definitely. All right. Cheers, guys. If you have any questions on anything, give us a shout. If things do not make sense with regard to what I have arrived at on check-ins, let us know. I am looking forward to all enjoying a good break over Christmas, enjoying the pigs in blankets, and then getting right back to it in 2024. We will catch up soon. Looking forward to it. Cheers.
