This is Indistinct Chatter with John Coops. Today I have a very special guest. I have Kaylee Copes here with me today. That's my sister for you all that don't know. But I'm going to go through, I'm going to introduce her, go through like some of her qualifications for like social media and like kind of being an expert in that field and then we're going to get straight into it. So Kaylee has an associate's degree in general studies from Prince George's Community College, a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from the illustrious Howard University. She's a senior research analyst at Ipsos Market Research Company. She also worked as a brand marketing assistant and social media manager for Cross Colors, a high-end hip-hop streetwear clothing brand. So without further ado, Kaylee Copes. Hi everyone. Very excited to be on this podcast today. Okay. All right, Kaylee. So we're just going to like run through questions. I'm going to just pretty much ask you about like issues and like kind of pick your brain about different things in like the marketing and social media field. All right? All right. Sounds good. All right. So question number one, how do you think social media has reshaped communicate with their audiences, particularly in industries like fashion and streetwear? I think social media has really shifted the industry in a way because now with social media, there's this idea of fast fashion and just being able to see things very fast and being able to share your newest designs as well as, you know, sometimes being able to take someone else's design and shape it in a way that fits your brand. I also think it's shifted the way they communicate with their audiences because now instead of like, you know, the newest fashion has to be on billboards or you have to sit on somebody really hot to be able to see it and actually want to buy it. Now you're able to see it on your local influencer or just being able to just see the brand and the product images. I think that it's really made it easier for people to go out of their way to buy brands and go out of their way to really connect with the brand and feel a certain type of way about the brand. All right. What strategies have you found most effective in engaging a brand's target audience on social media and how do those strategies differ depending on the platform? So that could be Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, like how do those strategies like change up? I think the biggest strategy or like the most effective is finding your target audience. Really finding your target audience and finding what they like. So like also posting a lot of short form content. So a lot of people tend to do images. They think that images would be the best way to promote their brand. You know, taking fun pictures that their audience would like. That's cool, but a lot of times on Instagram or even TikTok, we find their rules work the best. Just making those videos where like maybe the consumer is fancy or the consumer is just showing off in a fun way. It doesn't even have to relate to your brand. But someone may see the video and think, oh, wow, I like what this person's wearing just because they see it on them. I think those are really big things to keep in mind when it comes to marketing as well as constantly creating and making sure that you're not stopping your momentum when you get it. That makes sense, actually. Okay. We've got a little bit more time left, so we can do one more question depending on how you answer. So how important is data analysis in shaping social media campaigns and what metrics should brands prioritize when measuring the success of their social media efforts? So like what are, like I said, different things that brands should look at when they're trying to measure like the success of whatever post or like marketing campaigns or whatever that they're posting on social media. Like what should they look for? I think impressions is probably the most important when it comes to metrics that brands should be prioritizing. Because the question is how many people are seeing your post, but also how many times they're coming back to your post. That's a really big thing in social media because a lot of people, they're just scrolling. They're not actually looking for anything. They're just scrolling to see what's the hottest and the latest and the greatest. So if you're actually able to get people to engage and click on your post and actually, you know, do something from your post, that's the biggest thing that a brand wants. But data analysis altogether is very important when it comes to social media. I think a lot of brands also mess up with not paying attention to what their analytics are saying. Yeah, that actually like make a lot of sense. That's all the time I have for you, but I 100% obviously appreciate you coming through. I've been on the podcast, obviously, and thank you so much. I thought it was super insightful to like learn about, number one, impressions. Like that's not something that came to my mind right away and how like the amount of people that interact with your posts and things of that nature is like what you should look out for.
